Arizona's Delicate Arch An amazing arch. In the middle of nowhere. I love Arizona. Music by Artlist: Hawkins - Flower Duet Lakme Adi Goldstein - Somplace Else
For those keeping track, surgery was a success. This will probably be the last video for a while. Even if I can hike, I won’t be able to edit right now. Also appears I may have flipped the screen during editing, making it look like the 4Runner is in Europe. Might have been me being too clever trying to make it hard to use the background for research purposes finding the arch. Or maybe it just looked better to me. Can’t remember my thought process there. Finally, I figured this video would spark a bit of a debate over sharing vs not sharing a location. I’m in the unique position that I can see the impact that I make personally. I’ve seen a parking lot at a trailhead go from empty to packed before and am almost sure I played a part in that. (That video is gone now, as are others.) At the beginning it didn't matter because no one was watching my videos, but as that changes, I feel I need to adjust my approach. I love these places, so I feel I have to be careful revealing vulnerable spots. I know some people would say ‘just don’t post anything’ but I also love making videos. Think of what you’re extremely passionate about and then think if someone said ‘yeah, just don’t do that anymore’. So (admittedly somewhat selfishly) I’m going to keep making videos. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try my best to limit any negative impact those videos create. I’m not saying I can go and you can’t. I’m not better than anyone. I’m just not gonna be the one that fills this particular parking lot. And we should all be working to improve our skillset and appreciation for these places, which you can learn by doing your own research. So…that’s really just what it is at this point.
Great video- definitely never heard of that one. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Add Grand Gulch and Dark Canyon to your list (just guessing you have one) of post recovery possibilities.
Wow! Just stunning! So proud of your success on the channel Jerry…been here for quite awhile and am looking forward to your healing and good health so you and Tina can keep rocking on in the Arizona wilds! Be well, Lori Lee
It makes me happy to know there is still at least one arch hanging out with some cactus friends and birds, watching sunrises and sunsets, without the support of bipeds, blacktop, and boardwalks.
The hordes you mention, are result of greedy folk who build cheap motels, cheap food outlets and all the detritus that follows to encourage these hordes to visit areas that were once prestine lands. Overpopulation is the result. I could name countless small, characterful towns throughout the Four corners that are the result.... and no, not due to indigenous peoples.
@@thomza actually, someone offered but I didn’t take them up on it. And I saw people I know and can reach out to that posted it. But I found it myself because I wanted the satisfaction of finding it. You can too. You may even find the search is fun like I did.
Glad that you’re saving the details to those willing to work for the objective. Call it a filter to separate the “I was here!” junkies from the self-aware nature lovers.
Wow, You and Tina knocked it out of the ballpark this time The view at delicate Arch and that sunset was unbelievable. You were there with your gear and it was fabulous! Jerry I'm glad you're on the mend, Tina I'm glad you have Jerry on the mend!
What a beautiful video. Thank you for the effort. And, thanks for not disclosing the location, etc. That’s obviously the right thing to do. Just one more reason we all watch you guys. ❤
Hi Jerry, glad to hear the surgery went well and that you're on the mend. Take good care of yourself and follow the rehabilitation instructions. Don't overdo it. Thanks for posting the video. Cheers...
I love that you don’t reveal all the details about the locations y’all travel too! I’m like you. I love the research and the thrill of finding things myself! I also love the sort of sacred energy that can be felt through the solitude of being alone amongst this beautiful landscape. Thank you for doing what you do and I’m happy to hear the surgery was a success! Hope your recovery continues to improve ☺️
Your videos are stunning. You continue to astound us with how you can capture the breathtaking beauty of nature. Get well soon so you can continue to awe us.
Thank you! Glad you are recovering well. I just had foot surgery and will be recovering for at least 4 months. These videos keep me dreaming a filled with hope. Thanks!
I like that you don’t post the location. You did the same thing with another video that had some native ruins in it. It was a really fun challenge for me to research and go out there on a weekend to find it…. Maybe I’ll find this one too, but if not, I’ll have fun regardless
So glad to hear that the shoulder surgery is successful! Ok Toyota listen up! Pay attention to where Jerry and Tina are driving their TOYOTA 4RUNNER through and back with any problems or issues. They are ambassadors to your vehicles.
Pretty cool yes I was there years ago. My brother brought me out there way before I even moved here the Tucson and then we took a trip that was one of the spots we stopped at. I would never tell anyone how to get there the less people who know the better.
Cool video Jerry. When I was young in Phoenix one of the stories our cub scout master would always tell us was a supposed native american legend of a stone portal in the Sonoran desert that one could supposedly walk through and end up in another random place, I always thought he'd made the location up cause I'd never seen anything close to a freestanding arch here.
Another beautiful adventure, I have never heard nor seen Arizona’s delicate arch. Thank you for taking us along and keeping it a secret. I grew up in Provo Utah and I can tell you that the Internet has completely ruined many pristine and beautiful places. A lot of them are now no longer accessible. Not everyone needs to know exactly where everything is. Great work as always Jerry thanks again. And thanks for being such a bad ass Tina. ✨👁🌵👁✨
appreciate all you do to share the beauty of AZ without actually SHARING it, in a sense. I am an east-coast transplant that has lived here 20 years now, and absolutely cannot get enough of this state. And it's undeniably heartbreaking seeing favorite places of mine that I have discovered, become known, and hence destroyed by people who can't appreciate without touching.
Yeah, the more the channel grows, the more I know the impact I can have. So when places are easily accessible and not controlled like this, I try to either not make a video or not give info on where it is. I wouldn't have even done this but I could tell it was just about out of the bag. As of now, I've seen multiple posts/videos saying exactly how to get there. Unfortunate, but I'm not sure it's going to change.
I’m 56 and was born here. Back in school I remember a story about conquistadors seeing the future through an arch in Arizona. I wont say where they mentioned. I’m wondering if this is the same arch. And I always wanted to get adventurous and go look for it someday. What a treat!
Glad your surgery went well. Heal and we’ll look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for keeping nature like the arch for those willing to work for it.
Thank you for this amazing video with an unamed incredible arch and a marvelous sunset! These beautiful images are more than enough for me. Take care and made a speedy recovery!
We have been watching Jerry and Tina et al for the past few weeks and enjoy these videos very much. Great scenery and good commentary and advice. Glad to hear that Jerry is mending well and we are looking forward to more videos when they come out.
Great video…thanks for sharing a natural treasure and couldn’t agree with you more…also glad surgery was a success take your time with the recovery, I know I did.
That was amazing! Thanks for taking us along and for not sharing the information. Places like this deserve to be found by those willing to put in the time and respect!
incredible find, great shots at sunset..... you little B.... that was hilarious!!!! my wife; laughing out loud pointing at me THAT'S YOU!!! i cannot deny it
I’ll never understand why I can rappel off a 300’ cliff no problem but get terrified at relatively mellow dirt roads. Oh well. We fear what we fear, I guess.
Amazing what the force of wind, water and time can create. Its results flow from your art to mine. So magical to me how things seen and absorbed flow to my hands and result in the sculpture I create. Inspirational. Get well soon.
Wow, that was awesome! Thank you... I tell you though, if you haven't ever been to Delicate Arch in Arches Nat'l Park, it is a must do. Everyone should see that at least once... have a great hike.
Delicate arch is amazing. I remember thinking ‘oh man, all these people. There are so many…..HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THAT THING!’ Cannot imagine being the first person to walk up and find it.
You couldnt have oicked a better day for your adventure, that sumset was magnificent looks like it was a painting. Enjoy your serene time out there and thanks for sharing. Stumbled upon your channel since I love hiking and the Arizona landscapes. Heal quickly Jerry you just gained a new follower ❤
Beautiful video work, and I totally agree with and respect the decision to keep the details of the location hidden. I look forward to snooping this out on my own some time. All the best on recovery!
Good news on the surgery Jerry !! Right hand drive Toyota At 1.57 ?? Had my left shoulder done about 40 yrs ago . Thought I could body surf a 14 ft wave . The Wave won !! Get well soon and remember to leave no face ! I mean leave no trace ! You know we’re I’m going with that !
I'm so envious of your find. I've been searching for this arch for three years without success. I'll bet I've been really close without even knowing it. At 73 I don't know how many more years I'll be hiking, but I'll keep searching for it as long as I can. My hope is to make a time lapse video of the milky way moving across the night sky with the arch in the foreground.
I’m glad everything went well! Today I saw for the first time a post on this arch n I was trying to find more info on it. And then I see your video. Great video. And I’m hoping for a smooth recovery for you…and Tina
Honestly... I think this just might be even better than arch in Utah. You got to have it all to yourself and appreciate it in peace. There are only like 9329389489248 people in Moab's Delicate arch. Really cool!
Glad you and Tina are well. I commend you on your responsibility and your stewardship of the outdoors. Keep up the work. If you posted anything it would be gone in no time. There are great places out there and part of the adventure is finding them on your own.
To the victor goes the spoils, so if you want to protect it that is totally up to you... Best of luck with your health and getting back out there and sharing your adventures!
without the sound of the diesel truck idling contest in the windows parking lot - "0.9% for well qualified buyers....DODGE TRUCK... " - Hopefully most of them will be among the many reposessions happening right now...
I respect the hell out of you not saying anything about this place. I was also immediately curious to see how hard it would be to find it, definitely hard. I clicked around a lot of places on the internet and dragging my mouse on google maps. But I got lucky on google maps and it took about 2 hours. So for sure, if someone wants to find this place, all you gotta do is look. P.S. - happy the surgery went well. Take your time on the healing process! Looking forward to seeing you out there again in the future!
Hi Jerry & Tina. My husband and I live in Phoenix, and commend you for helping us make and tick off items on our bucket list. If your game, we'd love to join you on one of your adventures sometime. Off-roading and hiking to leave no trace are our passions. I'll definitely play sherlock to see if I can find this one. Thx for sharing. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care!
Thank you for keeping this natural treasure a secret. Like you, well sorta, my channel is tiny, as my channel gets bigger I’ve decided to stop revealing locations. I’ll admit, I’ll be searching to find this arch but I promise not to reveal where it is if I find it.
Yeah and all this just happened by accident it all came from nothing. That’s actually laughable. The beauty is incredible. Look at the design. Thank you for sharing.
Glad the surgery went well and that you didn’t tell the world where that arch is. It helps people to leave no trace when they can’t find it! And why is the steering wheel on the wrong side?!!?
Hi there Jerry … love your videos, great cinematic quality, coherent , informative narratives and narration, and of course lively humor 😎 Did my homework and definitely pinpointed where this superb spot is. My only question is this … once the road becomes impassable, how long is the hike (up, over and down to the arch ?) One final note … like you , I have a rather lovely wife who loves to keep me in line 🤪 Wishing you well as you recover from your surgery . Cheers Ed
Hey man. Behind on responses. If you have the location, you should be able to measure the distance. Just take it from where the shorter road that goes really close branches off from the road you came in on. You can either hike the rough road we drove, or you can hike cross country in a more direct line (I think). Either way, it's probably (guessing here) 1~2 miles each way. Not too much elevation gain.
I think I was concerned enough about sliding off the side of the road that I wasn’t as worried about the striping. I may have cried a little afterwards…
Finding a gem like this through research or happy chance always makes it more meaningful than just checking another box off a "to see" list. Glad to hear you are doing better and will be back out making the videos you love soon. Any suggestions for others who are learning to discern when not to reveal a location? Many times I just know it when I experience a place, but curious what you think on that.
Its hard for me and I haven't figured it out entirely. If it's vulnerable to over crowding, I try to not disclose much info or just don't make a video. Things that are easy to get to, have good roads, easy hikes, no permits and a big draw of a feature - like a waterfall, ruins, swimming hole, etc. I need to be very careful divulging a lot of info on places like that. I know a place that has waterfalls and is a 3/4 mile hike that I haven't seen online much. I haven't even been and definitely won't post a video on it. If I did, it would instantly be overrun. If there are limiting factors; rough terrain, backpacking/overnight required, rappelling for access, high clearance 4WD, permits and/or it is already very well known, I don't mind as much. Like the Zion Subway. It's beautiful, but access is controlled through permits that are already so popular there is a lottery. Making a video may make permits harder to get, but it won't increase traffic & therefore impact on the area (unless people start poaching it, in which case good luck being arrested by the rangers because they do that). If I'm being honest, this place is going to become very popular. It's not far from Phoenix, an easy hike and a photo op. I've seen it pop up more and more online recently. It will become the next Birthing Cave or Edge of the World. Someone finds it, posts a picture and won't tell anyone. Then they tell a friend who tells a friend who eventually tells a friend who divulges the location online. I don't know how to stop it. With the Sedona Subway, I saw this trend starting and chose to not make a video. But as I went back to Boynton Canyon more and more, it became clear that the cat was out of the bag as everyone was there to see it. People were getting lost and scraping over the petroglyphs. I finally posted a guide video - almost out of frustration - just so I could give clear directions so people stopped getting lost and wandering off trail in the canyon. I also wanted to mention to leave the Native American ruins alone. But the place still got crowded and eventually someone pushed over one of the walls at the ruins. Here, I saw the photos popping up more and more and decided to visit before it got too crowded. There were still two groups of people there when we showed up. I'm sure making a video doesn't help, but not making one doesn't help either in my experience. If I were just here for views or likes or whatever, I know how to title the video to draw more eyeballs and I could be the first person to explain exactly where it is, bringing even more people to the vid. But I don't want to do that; I just wanted to see it and I love making videos. Maybe it will make people think twice before telling everyone where it is. Maybe it will make people more aware of it and therefore send more people searching. I'm not sure. I've gone through my older videos and removed some that I think break my "set of rules" to protect these places; anything that gives info on how to get to a relatively unknown place that is fragile and unprotected. And I try more and more to put little messages in about how to properly treat places (without being too preachy) so hopefully some people learn. We all start somewhere. I wasn't born knowing any of this stuff. Which I feel is also a reason to not make it too easy. The wilderness can be unforgiving. There are places for beginners and places for experienced people. You become experienced through, well, experience. But you want to build this experience incrementally so you don't get in over your head. Learning how to find something helps you learn how to read topo maps, do basic research for conditions, etc. People definitely have a right to go to places like this, but that doesn't mean people are supposed to hold our hands and guide us there. If you can't find it, keep searching. Keep improving your skillset so eventually you can find it. And when you do, maybe you'll appreciate it more and limit your impact as well as be experienced enough to go there safely.
@JerryArizona thank you for the very thoughtful response! I see this philosophy lived out in the adventures and information you share with the public. It can hurt my brain just trying to think through the ramifications of an act as apparently simple as uploading a video to CZcams, but it would be irresponsible not to. The social media term "influencer" is very apt, but it remains up to each person to decide if they will be a good influence or something else. I hope you heal well and can soon return to sharing many more adventures with us. God bless you both.
Ouch on that desert pinstripping. OK, you are in medium high desert with some saguaros but lots of boulders, but where? Very cool place, thx for sharing.
Right? Trying to get clever by mirroring the scene to make it harder to figure out where we were. Completely forgot that flipped the steering wheel....
I completely agree with no spoon feeding locations. I get asked all the time about the slot canyons in PDC. The ones that people know about are all marked up. The others are still clean and pristine. We want to keep them that way. Put the work in and you'll find them like we did!
Magnificent discovery good job, i wish i knew where to start to find this location but unable do the work oh well. Happy thier's you Jerry you earned it, we'll give the arch your name i'm glad your surgery was a success. ps how do u get your wife to do all the driving man u got it made dude.
Well, it’s already got a name. Not sure if it’s official, but it’s known. I definitely didn’t discover it. There were even two groups already there when we got there. As far as driving, those were all my genuine reactions to off roading. Just not my cup of tea. Tina likes it, likes making fun of me for being a chicken and I prefer to not drive so it works out great for us both.
That comment sounds elitist.

Wow that area is beautiful 🤩
And to add, this video is perfectly done and perfectly said to keep it mysterious! Love it!
That’s a really cool arch! Definitely worth the work to put in to find!
I hope you heal quickly, Jerry! Terrific video, beautiful location, and one of the most jaw-dropping sunsets I’ve ever seen. Well done.
Stunning find! Glad to hear the surgery was a success & look forward to seeing you back on the trails in the future
Wowee zowee -- what a treat to get to see this amazing landscape!! Thank you for sharing -- and may your recovery be swift!

Thank you so much for this video. Loved it!! I seen it all i don't need to find it. Come back soon live your videos.❤
Kudos, Jerry. For all of it.

Absolutely beautiful. Arizona sunsets are just stunning! Good deal on the surgery. Take your time and heal up. ✌️
That may be one of the most beautiful videos I’ve seen of the desert Southwest. Thank you so very much for protecting the location from overuse.
This was a really nice video with stunning images and footage. Thank you for sharing. Good luck with your surgery! 😀👍
Thanks for not telling everyone where this is. Beautiful spot. God bless the great state of Arizona.

Tina framed by the arch made for a very nice composition as well as a great way to indicate size and perspective.
People often say ‘that would look better without the person in the photo’ but yeah. It works so well for perspective and scale.
Didn't know you had surgery, Jerry, hope all is fine and your recovery is quick.

That scarey drive didn't even phase Tina; I would have been screaming like a big baby. Amazing arch and rock formations.
Tina loves that type of thing. It’s a bonus for her that it makes me so uncomfortable. But I definitely deserve any hard time she gives me.

Yeah, it appears this is the new hot spot. All the details are probably posted online from someone by now. Definitely worth a visit.
Awesome video. A little investigating and i found it.
Very nice arch. ARRASTRA ARCH
“A golden arch with no McDonalds”
Honestly... I think this just might be even better than arch in Utah. You got to have it all to yourself and appreciate it in peace. There are only like 9329389489248 people in Moab's Delicate arch. Really cool!
Another amazing episode. Hope all goes well with the healing process. You will be missed, hurry back.
Glad you and Tina are well. I commend you on your responsibility and your stewardship of the outdoors. Keep up the work. If you posted anything it would be gone in no time. There are great places out there and part of the adventure is finding them on your own.
Awesome! You should do that river rafting trip with us in July! Timmy C Arizona
Best wishes for a speedy uncomplicated recovery. Meantime, your videos, commentary and presence will be missed.
I was just there on the way to Maggie Slot Canyon. Great video, glad you finally got to do it, good to see you out and about
I'm gonna have to look that one up. The name sounds familiar, but it's not on my list yet.
To the victor goes the spoils, so if you want to protect it that is totally up to you... Best of luck with your health and getting back out there and sharing your adventures!
Amazing arch, it is good to keep secrets. Keep us updated on your recovery. Do some gear reviews stay safe
Thank you for keeping the location of this spot secret.
So rare to see Joshua Tree Yucca and Saguaro cactus in the same place, that so gives it away
Good move in not divulging where the arch is. Cheers, Steve
Like a mini version of the one in Arches NP in Utah. Pretty cool 😎. Get that buffing compound and wheel ready 🚙
without the sound of the diesel truck idling contest in the windows parking lot - "0.9% for well qualified buyers....DODGE TRUCK... " - Hopefully most of them will be among the many reposessions happening right now...
Thanks for letting us an arch exists in AZ. Will definitely be putting in the work to find it and get there.
some of the most amazing arches in the world are in arizona, there most be literally hundreds of arches in AZ 😅
@@primarytrainer1 really? Where
Better ones and more in Utah though.@primarytrainer1
NICE VID!
Dammit. I didn’t even realize that. I flipped the image in post. Probably just looked better to me. Not positive.
@@JerryArizona haha..I thought that might be the case. Get well and back out there soon.
Congratulations for successful surgery. Do the pt! I will miss your videos a lot.
Thank you. Definitely doing the PT. It works wonders.
Well its in the desert. How far from phoenix ? Beautiful photography.
It’s somewhere between 2-3 hours drive. Not too far.
Hi there Jerry … love your videos, great cinematic quality, coherent , informative narratives and narration, and of course lively humor 😎 Did my homework and definitely pinpointed where this superb spot is. My only question is this … once the road becomes impassable, how long is the hike (up, over and down to the arch ?)
One final note … like you , I have a rather lovely wife who loves to keep me in line 🤪 Wishing you well as you recover from your surgery . Cheers Ed
What an epic sunset, thank you! ....and with the pin striping, were there any tears or just high pitched crying?
Hope recovery is still going well! Good luck with your physical therapy!
Ouch on that desert pinstripping. OK, you are in medium high desert with some saguaros but lots of boulders, but where? Very cool place, thx for sharing.
Jerry you have an amazing truck. In one scene the steering wheel is on the left, and in another scene it is on the right. Wow how do you do that?!
Good call on not giving the name or location. We found one in NM that was similar. Zero people, which is how we like it.
Can find with enough patience
