That transition to the weather was smoother than Lee Marvin's slide through eternity
It's nice to listen to an existential crisis first thing in the morning while eating breakfast.
Lee Marvin is stuck in a time loop, and has been aware for decades.
I love that _rogue planets_ of all things are a recurring theme in this podcast.
My guess is that it's death.
MySerpentine That’s what I was thinking!! Like it’s the thing people in NightVale seen before they die, that’s why you seen it in A Story About You and the Man Who is Not Short sees it in A Story About Them
@@davidmcnuffin64 Maybe it's what comes before birth, too, if he saw it before.
@@MySerpentine This is the first time anyone's described being on its surface, instead of just reaching up towards it. I wonder if that's related to how Lee Marvin has been around for quite a while...
@@davidmcnuffin64 I also thought that, although if Lee is stuck in s time loop, then he is functionally immortal. so how do we explain his having set foot on the sunless planet?
Unless... our Lee Marvin is a ghost?
"I'm Lee Marvin, welcome to my birthday."
....
Happy Birthday?
Man I'm experiencing some deja vu... anyone else?
ah yes, my bi-monthly dose of existential crisis
you all probably dont care at all but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Kody Samson Instablaster =)
@Vincent Miller Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Vincent Miller it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
@Kody Samson you are welcome :D
"Death is only the end if you think the story is about you"
Damn Lee, thanks for the existential crisis...and happy birthday! 30 is a special year. Some say it lasts forever...
Life is not about goal-accomplishing, it’s about regret management.
........ Sad but True
Oh, Mood
This could probably be a proverb in the show
Yeah no ,if you keep looking at regrets then you're not living.
My brother left us this year at age of 32.
Thank you, this episode made me think a lot.
"Love your taste in shirts" made me feel special because I'm wearing my NVCR Intern shirt as I listen to this!
Same ..but I am wearing a ninja turtle shirt
Their watching you
@@latieraeve this comment scared me
@@joegarza563 they have always been there, you are now aware of their presence. Do not be alarmed they seem to like you
@@latieraeve *sigh of relief * I have grown fond of them as well
I waited a few days so I could listen to this today on my birthday. Now I feel pretty insignificant but in a good almost comforting way 😂😂
I like Lee Marvins voice. The imagery he provides is like a book
wait a moment, i agree with the description.
haven't we been here before?
Is our perception of time correct. or is it a mere illusion on which we try to grasp upon not realizing that to do so is in vain.
or perhaps we have been before, in a different time and situation, different, but not entirely unlike this.
whatever maybe the case, there is one thing that is true, it is Lee Marvin's 30th birthday.
Paradox I was thinking the same thing. Didn’t we already have an episode like this?
@@redrasegarden Yes, it was 139
I don't think Lee Marvin is ever going to that sunless planet. Like... Kenny.
I can see that Lee Marvin has influenced Cecil quite a bit
If nightvale decided to launch a quarterly newspaper that you could subscribe to I'd totally be into that
I loved this rendition of the theme
The conference room stuff is giving me Stanley Parable vibes.
Thank you Night Vale, it's been a pleasure tonight as always.
Listening to this with my headphones in so it's all I can hear and staring at my ceiling with the blue and green lights I have,a little before, and during, and after midnight was so surreal
The "death is only the end" line is oddly comforting.
Time works differently in Night Vale....
I love the contemplation of existence this show shoves in my skull, I adore it
I like to listen to WTNV while doing chores around the house, but this episode stopped me so often it became useless to fight it. That was one existential crisis that spoke to me, 'cause it spoke for me. Wow, just wow!
Just when I'm ready to give up on Nightvale for being too ponderous they produce a pitch perfect episode like this one.
Yeah it changed tone a lot from afther the initial misterius night vale in which a coshack appeared and in which street cleaning day frightend us ,
To the mayoral run between a five headed dragon and a faceless old woman , to the more somber tone it took afther the beagle , it's been a wild ride ...
I can't believe we have to wait even longer for last episode's cliffhanger to be resolved
The Tragedy of Lee Marvin a.k.a. Happy 30th Birthday, Lee Marvin!
"My life, like all lives, is more a list of 'I nevers', than 'I haves'."
Fuck... *Fuck.*
I love episodes like this
Happy Birthday Sir Lee Marvin!! :) 🎉🎉
What a good episode!
I have such a hard time falling asleep but not going to lie I've listened to this every night for the past 2 weeks and it puts me straight to sleep.
I can't believe this episode almost exclusively used Disparition's "through stone" album. I obsessed over this one in particular for a while and can recognize it in the episodes. What a treat!
Through Stone is legit some of his finest work
I listen to nightvale at work and two days in a row I've listened to an episode titled, "the birthday of Lee Marvin"
This episode really chilled me. Night Vale usually does a little (duh), but this episode more than usual
To quote Tony Stark, "Part of the journey is the end".
146 maybe my favorite episode ever
This show is just so amazing!
Woohoo! New episode!
We have indeed been here before, and we will be here again...and again and again and again.
best yet. MORE!
the ending is starting to sound like the 'pirates who never do anything song' which makes me giggle
This is fucking beautiful **inserts THIS ART HURT ME.gif**
Happy 30th, Lee!
Happy Birthday Lee Marvin!
this episode is sometimes the only thing keeping me alive
narrator: every evenings disappointment is the next mornings hope
me: HISS WHERE IS CECIL !!!
narrator: I’m Lee Marvin-
me: oh hi mr Marvin 🥰🥰☺️🥰💕💓 nvm 💕💘🥰 happy birthday 🥰☺️💕😔💓🎊
The music, what is happening? Where is Cecil? Doesn't the planet have something to do with Huntokar? Is Lee Marvin trapped in a time loop? Goodnight Lee Marvin, Happy Birthday. Have a Great Day :)
I was so ready for cecil then I hear this and its giving me an existential crisis. send help its too late for this.
Happy 30th birthday Lee Marvin!!
"I love your taste in shirts!"
I'm wearing a shirt that says "Come a little closer and I'll reach you about rabies" LMAO
"A place where money is not made, but is procured from those who deserve it less." Is this how the US government works?
Remember, the episode “Huntokarb” explains Night Vale, what it is and how time flows, or doesn’t...
There isn't much to see in Poland anyway, mr Marvin. But I can send you a postcard!
I totally didn't frantically rescroll when I saw the title, only to realize there was not one not two but THREE episodes titled "The Birthday Of Lee Matin".
No. That wasn't me.
yo. this episode came hard.
Nice.
I'm only further convinced that the dark planet is the afterlife. especially considering that at the end of the story about you you are said to touch it and the story ends with that, but in the story about us it is said that you died at the end.

WHAT STORY LEE? YOU CAN'T EVEN DIE!
A story about _____
Will real closed captions be added at some point? Or are there transcripts for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing? As a Hard of Hearing person, potential new listener, I can hear some tone and inflection but not the words clearly.
There's a tumblr that has transcripts for every episode
@@latieraeve how quickly after a new one comes out do the transcripts go up? (It is *very* frustrating to have to wait a long time after hearing audiences get things for someone to remember the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing and those with Auditory Processing challenges...)
Lucky man never had to eat kale!
Why am I awake again?
Wait. Didn’t we do one of these episodes? And we agreed never again?
Just saw the title of episode 150. What is going on? Also, in Pioneer Days, the double exposure is why there’s two chicken-headed toddlers, instead of just one seen standing sentinel.
Happy 30th birthday!...again?
Spit that shit Lee! 👩💻
Has anyone else gotten the sense, through this episode and the other Lee’s 30th birthday episode, that Lee is going to try ending the cycle by killing himself?
I was thinking that, but what happens when Lee Marvin dies?
Evil Betty That’s the thing, we don’t know what will happen, and neither does he. He might not be as certain as he seems that it will end the cycle. He could simply wake up at 5 AM again with the cycle still going. Maybe when he kills himself he causes a split in the time line he’s in, a timeline that was the result of other splits in the timeline caused by other Marvin’s doing the same. Maybe his death will lead to another apocalypse. Maybe he is unique to this universe just as Carlos may be to Night Vale Proper (no dark planet), and his death leads to the apocalypse or some catastrophic event. The possibilities are endless
Wait, wasn’t there an episode where Marvin’s death was mentioned?
Edit: Yeah, we were told he was dead, but then he hosted the episode that followed!
Wait he's never been married but he was divorced? How's that possible
The intro is half good and half sad but we got no cecil
Oh FFS, we were just here.
neat
it's too late for this
Grace G while also too early
........ happy birthday....?
Am I the only one who always skips the weather?
wait-
This Lee Marvin was not born under a wandering star.
Ignore this
Exit
Death is only
Did you come here to explain death to me?
