  • Hi there
This is to share one little adventure in getting to Ohrid, North Macedonia from Pogradec, Albania. You would think it is simple but it is not. If one decided to forgo the adventure, an Albanian Taxi will cost you around 45 euros from the border to Ohrid (last time I asked). The return trip with a Macedonian taxi will cost you 25 euros (or 20 to St Naum)....ergo, I go the difficult way. Occasionally I taxi back.

Glad I found this. I’m actually going to do this tomorrow. Was it easy to find a taxi at St. Naum into Ohrid’s city center? How often does the buses go there? Thanks.

In the tourist season (now) you should have no issue getting a cab. Assuming the busses haven't changed, they leave St. Naum shortly after 9am, 12pm, 2pm. There are a couple more, but those I have confirmed. The return from Ohrid is at 6:30am, 8:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm. You can ask the driver to take you directly to the border control (a few extra Denar). A cab from Ohrid to St Naum is a fixed rate of 20euros, or 25 to the border I think. Taxis can be scarce on the Albanian side for the return to Pogradec and tend to be a bit pricey. Be sure to go early to really enjoy St. Naum; it is lovely!
