Damn that Māori team had Piri Weepu, Carlos Spencer, Rico Gear, Luke McAlister, Carl Hayman, Ross Filipo, Rua Tipoki, Leon McDonald, Jono Gibs and Caleb Ralf damn probably one of the best teams they ever fielded
After watching the game vs Ireland tonight. Immediately thought back to this. Unreal games both. Huge passion.
The NZ Māori have beating top tier nations like Ireland, England, and a few other northern teams yeah they probably weren’t their top teams but the Māori isn’t even our C team.. Technically no matter what team the Lions fielded they should by all rights beat the Māori
*_It would be even better if they put up the score on screen once in a while!!!_* Someone in the Control Room needs a red card!
Great win by the Maori Team. Woodward led the Lions Team so poorly, Sheridan was a waste of space, waddling around. Gethin was the only hero of the tour!
44:07 "I didn't see it. Not much in it." 🙄
I just love these announcers.
Although this game was played 16 years ago, I can understand why Steve Walsh defected to Australia!
His refereeing was substand, and not up to international standard.
tank you
Murrray Mexted in commentary? Anyway a sad day when he retired.
That was a staked Māori side
amount of players in this Maori team who could of made it in the ABs...
Most of them were all blacks
Piri Weepu, Carlos Spencer, Luke McAlister and Leon McDonald were in the All Blacks that year they just wanted to play for the Māori in this game they went back and played for the All Blacks after this gameif memory serves me right

The Lions were bigger men.
But the Maoris had much better brains and tactics they were the better technical team. The Lions ughh they weren't smart enough and they weren't aggressive enough...
Idk about that Māoris backline was way bigger then the irish
Nah the lions had a couple monsters but the teams weren’t far off each other
What an inconsistent referee Steve Walsh is. He cannot referee matches of this status. He left many players both sides confused with his bizarre nd strange decisions esp at the rucks nd hs neglect for high nd dangerous tackling offenses.
Rules were different back then: not so many dangerous tacklings as today.
wtf can that ref just the lions boots pmsl
This was a star studded British & Irish lions side and our Māori brothers beat them haha... #yoza 👊🏽💪🏾✊🏾
Liam
