I love that this anime breaks the stereotypes and actually allow the girl to protect the guy as well.
I also absolutely love that she does not have to change herself to be appealing to her boyfriend and that he loves her for her and not specifically because she it hot or cute.
This is a fresh look on relationships in anime that don't happen often and I can already feel that this is a very sweet and healthy relationship

This anime is off to a pretty strong start! The character designs are awesome and not only is Shikimori AMAZING, but Izumi-kun is super adorable, too. The soft-edged style of drawing eyes in this anime is really unique, but the thing I really like is how Izumi loves Shikimori for who she really is, not just because she's cute or her looks or anything. She doesn't have to act "cute" to be appreciated by him and staying true to herself is what makes him love her, which is so refreshing to see. I'm sick of series where the girl changes herself to appeal to a guy instead of staying strong the way she is and I love how healthy and fluffy the relationship between Shikimori and Izumi is! It's also cool to see the girlfriend protecting her boyfriend instead of the other way around!
They both like each other for who they are but well. Izumi's bad luck sort of ruins it.

wow i actually like this? first of all, he simps for her as she simps for him. and they seem kinda authentic. like their relationship feels healthy? and they worry about the other in such a healthy way too. they would tell each other they love the other one and the guy actually seems manly imo. he is straight forward but very cautious of her. he knows both her sides and finds both of them great. she is the best. she would protect him not thinking about how that break the stereotype of the guy has to protect the girl all the time but at times she still is cautious of herself and wants to please him just as he wants his bad luck to change so he would please her. like lets be real here. trying to please the one you love will make you sometimes act in a way you didn't think you'd ever act like but when i think about it. acted a certain way intuitive when being in love is also a part of your actual personality i think.

@@sweetsoul3169 some sort of convoluted plot around why she's his girlfriend and a dark, disturbing storyline that traumatizes every character it can in whichever way it can. Bonus points earned for each character death, and multipliers added for how twisted/gruesome said deaths are. That's how the anime of today apparently goes.

It is my firm belief that this animeâs translated name should have been âShikimoriâs not just a pretty faceâ
i think the title fits as she not just can be acting cute but cute is also meant to describe her pretty looks so it means both. when ppl say "she/he is cute" they often mean the looks. if the title was "shikimori is not just a pretty face" i'd expect the show to about her being graded by her looks only but she has so much more to offer and ppl would then realize later. but here they don't just look at her looks but they admit she is cool and cute. her looks are like a bonus.

I think what sold me on this anime is just how precious they are to each other. Like I love the stuff already said: the colors, how they break negative stereotypes, how they twist the typical gf/bf anime gender roles (SHE is the 'cool guy' and HE is the 'innocent' clumsy girl). All of that definitely catches my attention and is appealing, but what HOLDS it is that they value each other as is. They support each other and communicate. And that is sadly rare to see in cishetero relationships in media. They're not just bf and gf, but they are two people who are friends and LIKE each other. And it makes me SO soft for them!!
Finally an established relationship and we don't have to go through the whole process of they trying to get together and all the drama that comes with it (not that is bad tho).
They just went straight to the wholesome and im here for it.
No one isn't talking about that truck driver who doesn't stop to not crash on two highschoolers who walks on side of the road while going on barely 10 mp/h, but the meme.

I feel like there's gonna be something deeper than just cute, unlucky boy with cute but badass girlfriend. The last bit of dialogue has me suspicious that Shikimori actually has superpowers. Their friends have an animal thing going: Inuzaka (Inu=dog), Neko (cat), and I'm assuming the other girl is a bunny. From how intense Shikimori is, her jealousy of Inuzaka and Izumi in the opening, the pink hair; it makes me think Shikimori is a yandere. Hopefully that last possibility isn't going to be correct.

I love it already hooked and I'm only a few seconds in. Like yes. This is a gorgeous and unique one. She takes on a role almost like a Male lead who has to protect the innocent and unlucky female lead except roles are switched. I love it.

This is awesome they basically switched the stereotypical romance anime gender roles without making Shikimori manly. She's the perfect girlfriend and "cute girl" with epic moments. Exactly like the boyfriend would normally be: a perfect boyfriend and "cool guy" with epic moments.
Meanwhile to make it work, they had to turn to boy into a useless and pathetic loser. This could have been done better. But it is still enjoyable.

Finally! An anime where the relationship is already established. I don't have to wait 3 seasons for the MCs to get together. I also really like the reversed roles where the girl is protecting the guy. I find it so much cuter than the typical scenes where the guy protecting the girl
I love the trend of well made anime recently realizing that couples who just genuinely love each other and enjoy being in love with each other are also really entertaining to watch and there doesn't always have to be this denial of feelings and drama
So to be effective for a series we'll have to see Izumi actually do things that support Shinamori. Talk is cheap, as they say. If they can show us why she likes him as a person and not just as an eternal escort mission, this could be really fun.

This show touched my heart in a way I can't even fully express. it was so heartwarming, and it made me admire the incredible beauty of life when you have someone special to share it with. Even though finding someone as supportive and loving as Shikimori may be almost impossible but, I felt so much joy just watching their love story unfold, and it left me with a silly smile on my face. I can hardly wait for the next season, just thinking about it makes my heart feel so full. â€â€

You know this anime has peeked at my interests, the characters are so far amazing and the idea of the female protecting the guy is rarely seen so this is different for once, all the characters are very cute. The opening and especially the ending are amazing and very cute, the ending is probably my favorite part about it the little game aspect got me smiling.
Probably my favorite part is definitely the Murphy's Law aspect of the story where Izumi is a victim of Murphy's Law where anything that can go wrong does, which I really like that and its a very interesting take on it how the girl is basically protecting him from these events like she knows whats gonna happen next and also how Izumi feels remorse for Shikimori for in a way putting her up to this task but she likes doing this which I find very enjoyable and I can see both of them helping each other which I can't wait to see what this series has in store judging from the OP. So far its a solid 9/10

I like this anime. It's not as good as "My Dress-up Darling," but Shikimori has its share of good things that it goes for. The character designs are really good, the main couple and their dynamics are adorable, the animation is okay, and it's just a solid romance anime. Shikimori is one of the best waifus of the year.
