When I was on a bus to Positano, we all gave our driver a round of applause when he managed a hair-pin turn. Even the mini car ahead of us needed a 3-point turn to manage it.
Small cars generally have a wide turning radius (proportionately to their size) due to their front-engine, front-wheel drive layout (the engine is placed width-wise relative to the car, thus using up vital space and limiting the maximum angle the front wheels can turn!).
