This game is a direct arcade port and while the AI is cheap and frustrating at times, it is nowhere near as bad as the AI in Mortal Kombat 2. Rage still ensues in this video though.

Gstar. One of the only youtubers that doesn't shout into his mic, is relatable, feels human, and is a reward to find. Especially for vids like this. Always a breath of fresh air to come to Gstar and think to myself "Hey, maybe CZcams is still a good site."

i remember back in 91 playing this in the arcade at the local bar bowling alley i was in 1st grade and i loved watching people play MK and i would play once everyone left cause i was so shy lol but as a little kid this game was the best especially watching all the older kids play and hoping they would do a fatality and when MK2 came out in arcades it was a surprise back then cause i didnt know about it coming out until i saw it and it blew my mind i thought it was the bloodiest game ever i loved it!!

I remember when I was 10, I played this game thinking I was alone. When I defeated one of my opponents, my younger brother said "Wow, Ashley. You're good." I was completely caught off guard, but I nonchalantly said, "Thanks, Nick."

What it is... the AI is based off the arcade model (cheapness to beat you and make you use more koins) after a certain amount of replays the AI gets progressively easier...
Doesn't happen in MK 2 though.

It's funny hearing him rage every time he gets hit.
One tip I found: on the endurance rounds, you can actually hit the second enemy the instant he jumps in, before he moves. SZ's freeze or Scorpion's spear will get you a good head start.
You should play one of these on the hardest difficulty just for fun lol thumbs up so he can see
The difficulty can't be changed on the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection games.

This is still the number 1 arcade fighting game after all these years.
I remember when this came out 1993 to 1994 in my local arcade it was a instant hit I remember people used to stand up around this mortal Kombat one machine with quarters all around the screen and everybody knew their turn went to go next I remember there was this one guy we call him fraga this guy already knew couple fatalities and he was a boss at it too he used to try to sell the fatalities to whoever wanted to buy it for like a dollar and I'm pretty sure he made a a couple Buck off for that man this is classic right here to me this is the king of all fighters the granddaddy of mortal Kombat

I remember with MK2, when you jumped over someone you could change your flying kick mid jump. You could use that to your advantage sometimes. MK1 animations left you a lot more open if you missed connecting with a move.

Sub-Zero is my favourite character, and with everybody especially Goro, I don't wait for a couple of seconds to start, I freeze him immediately. I love that even still, with the internet, The MK Team still manages to slip in secrets like the stage brutalities in MKX, which someone like 3-4 months after the game came out, threw the old lady on the one stage and, I think he was fighting Mileena, she exploded and the chat went absolutely APESHIT. And then people figured out you could throw the big tree branch on the Dead Woods-esque level and impale them with it. Boon has also eluded to a few more secrets not being found yet as well. And considering the EJB menus took twenty years to discover... Who knows what might be discovered in some other MK games as well.
Word of advice, when playing an endurance round and you K.O. your first opponent, the 2nd opponent comes in and you can get a free hit on them before they can get ready to fight.

I get seriously angry when I lose at this game. I think I probably swear worse than you do my friend. I remember many years ago I was playing the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 game and I was on Shao Kahn. I was on round 2 with no lives left and I was a pinch close to winning the game and that b*stard beat me. I WAS ROYALLY PISSED. I screamed at the top of my lungs, stuck my middle finger up at the TV, swore worse than a sailor and threw the game paddles right at the TV. The AI on all these games are rigged and they do cheat.
"Oh you're standing a bit too close to me, dude" made me crack up.

First time i played Mortal Kombat 1 was at a 711 store in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1992 or 1993, i was 9 or 10 years old..I thought Mortal Kombat was really awesome compared to Street Fighter 2 , at that time..
I feel your pain..lol. I am laughing so hard at this because I felt the same way when it came out on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis for the very first time. Lol. And yes I remember the lines at the arcade as we dumped over $20 in quarters on those machines. Understand that it’s these settings that make you a master my friend.
