It's the best feeling. Me and the random guy next to me were both upgraded. We kept asking each other if things were included or if we get to take the blanket or if we leave it. Every time the attendant offered us something, we asked if it was included. We couldn't stop laughing at how insane all of this was. It was such a good overwhelming experience. I think the attendant got a kick out of us too.
Many a times Sri Lankan airlines upgrades lucky individuals and I myself got upgraded to business class when I was in college. They asked me if I was flying on my own and when responded yes, they shifted me to business class☺️. Thank you Sri Lanka airlines ❤
I recently got upgraded too. It was a very emotional day for me (I was moving back home after staying in that city for an year) and somehow it just kept getting better and better to the point where my urge to cry totally vanished.
Happens to me twice and happens to my husband like 5 times. It because sometimes either the economy is overbooked or your seat get taken for a reason. So they have to do something with it. Srilanka does it oftenly.
Had the same experience through Emirates in 2019 while flying to Paris from Kolkata via Dubai. In Dubai Airport the boarding pass was scanned and then a new one was issued which was of a business class. It's a surprise that I'd never ever forget.
Yes. I think that’s the case. When I was flying to see my brother a lot in Japan. I flew American. I was just a platinum member. I was upgraded quite often. Often passengers on the flight were not elite members on international flights. When their plane is full, they have to make room in economy, they bump elite fliers.
What is so lovely about this is how much you can tell you really appreciate it and were so grateful. Honestly makes it so much more special when someone like you gets the upgrades when you can see how much it means 💗
I got twice upgrade to FIRST CLASS of Emirates. But yes, I am a frequent flyer and my Business class ticket was changed twice . So I guess airline already made lot of money by charging me for rescheduling. And then gave free upgrade to FIRST class from Business class

We got upgraded by SIA years back from KSA to SG in Business class and the FA mentioned that the pastry given was special for some reason. It was one of the highlights of my flying time. I have been a Krisflyer loyal member eversince so maybe that was the reason. Am assuming as well that my exit visa says final and won't be flying back to KSA. Yh there was some malfunction I asked my mom what happened she told me that mine and my sis ticket was accidentally booked for the day before so since we were to young and the plane was full they put me and my sis in business ❤😅
After all check in, we were waiting in for the flight. When all the passengers were boarding, our family alone were not allowed to board. My dad got tensed and i was quite disappointed too as i waited months dreaming about that trip. One of the air hostess came to us and told us that we got our seats upgraded from economy to business class in British Airways. We booked all the flights from India to London and then London to Atlanta and the same way back. We were so happy and excited ! That was one of the comfortable and happy air travel for me. Thanks to the staff !
That's amazing. It's torture flying in economy most specially if it's flights lasting at least 10hours per flight. I just came back from a trip to the Philippines to come visit my family. Flying from the USA, things get uncomfortable after 4 hours of constant sitting. My tailbone hurts, my legs are forever asleep, it was just so suffocating. One of these days I'll fly business class.

I usually travel Business class in my work when still working. The moment you sat, given warm hand towel, given juices, newspaper, snacks. Yeah, have complimentary socks, slippers, cosmetic pouch with tooth brush/paste. And different menus and more snacks.

We treated ourselves to Business Class 12 years ago from Britain to Australia and back home (special anniversary) on the way home via Singapore from Melbourne, we checked in and they upgraded us to First 😳😳oh boy my jaw must have hit the floor in surprise, the check in had just opened so not sure if it was because we were first or not, but it made our holiday. I admit when the lady said our names on the phone call as we checked in, I did wonder if something was wrong with our booking.
Sri Lankan airline is known for this... They also upgraded my seat from economy to business class after some problems I've had with their ground crew at the airport. I didn't expect the upgrade as well. But I'm so happy they did. And then, there were Americans upon boarding that we're asking them if they can be upgraded to business class for free but no body listened to them. They were escorted to economy. 😂
It happened with me as well when I was traveling from Delhi to Bangalore in Air India. It was the best travel experience and I was giggling the entire trip like kid 😅
Me and my family were going on vacation to Turkey and my little brother was still a baby so we bought tickets in the front row of economy class bc they have more place for baby and everything. But they told us someone took our place and they said you know what we’ll put you guys in bussines class. It was so much better

I'm not super rich by any means but almost always travel long sectors in business class just by making an effort to find the cheapes routes that more less match the route I desire to travel, although it's more difficult sinds 2022. If LHR-BKK is too expensive, then perhaps there is also ARN-HKG for half the cost. And then postitioning from/to those airports can be done with a cheap airline or with frequent flyer miles. Oh and yes, I have been upgraded on some occasions.

When that same thing happened to me but from Fiji to LA it was my first time in business and full on when I got a hot towel it smelled like deformed fruit snacks It was like I had to be in a certain mode to enjoy it it was so weird😭
I heard it could also happen if the airline accidentally over book economy but there is a lot of empty seats in business.. 😅 Not an everyday occurence, but they do happen
