    Platinum was the most expensive per gram for a very long time and also 50% heavier per volume than gold, but gold now costs considerably more.
    ... And rhodium price is now on par with platinum.
    White gold is only coated with the above to reduce cost and mimic appearance.
    It used to be conseribaly cheaper to buy something in white gold, but these days the difference is not so much.

If you work very hard you can made a stainless steel ring with the same technique as if you work with gold. So in conclusion, most of the ring made of stainless steel are made by CNC machine not by hand !

      @BurrellsUk  Před 3 lety

      Hi Tabatha! Thank you for your question, one of experts has written this answer for you:
      "Platinum is the strongest metal of the precious metals, but you don't find many available due to the cost and not being a high demand. When looking at a chain then gold is a good option as it is softer than platinum it has some give so a chain is more likely to stretch before breaking. It also depends on if you are going to have pendant. Also taking the right care by taking off the necklace before your clothes so it doesn't catch."
      We hope this helps :)

    I'm confused about white gold. Is white gold just yellow gold coated with a silver colored metal? I don't get how something 18k or 14k can be so light when gold is yellow in color

    • @HOBBL3
      @HOBBL3 Před 3 lety +1

      Pure Gold is 24k, so 18k gold just means 18/24 purity, the other 6 will create an alloy to help with hardness. White gold is played in rhodium to give it a silver like colour, this needs to be re-plated every 2-3 years as it wears off

      I hope that you didn’t pay much at all for your 925 ”gold ring” (sitting on your right hand lol💀) cus it’s surely not gold; it’s made out of ”925 Sterling Silver” this i can more or less guarantee you.
      (There are ”possible” expceptions, but the chance that a ring stamped 925 in this day n age would be gold and not S silver is basically zero to none )
      Just letting you know. Have a good one!👍✌️

    There is something in my skin that turns sterling silver black. My skin doesn't turn black, only silver jewelry. It's been this way since I was a kid. No matter how much I clean it, it will turn dull and black in a matter of hours. I've never tried any other white metal, so I want something that still gives me the silver look but NOT silver...

    Palladium and Silver have not good density..... PLATINIUM is best choice in white metal. GOLD in France is not a warranty of quality since long time ( before , Gold label = 18K was a security...) ... now tramp gold (9k) flood french market in despite of horrible look 🤢🤮🤮...I prefere 925/1000 sterling silver than fake gold just released of a dog ass.
