If Kevin were to fall off that roof he would hit the ground before that line comes taught 😂
😂
Got to keep the clipboard warriors happy
Lol when I started construction as a kid roofing helping my uncles, they would say you are fired before you hit the ground.
I have been watching this show since the beginning and have enjoyed every season.
Do you remember what series it was that they renavated a big farmhouse with a solid wood mantle and a kinda grey wood panelled coat room/ mud room and2 doubble garages ? Built in .. used to watch it with me late Nan and can’t remember what one it was ….
A word to the wise on the linear shower drain. We installed one similar (or maybe the exact same linear drain) as the one you showed. (1) linear shower drains are originally for large format tile. Because larger tile (say 12" x 24" or larger), can not "bend" to fit slopes to a small drain, the linear drain was created. If you have large format tile, make sure to use a linear drain, and size it to fit the width of the shower - your tile guy will get a much better job that way. (2) We chose a drain "grill" or "cover" with the linear bars like the drain you show. I thought the linear bars looked beautiful, and they are. But, those bars are a "magnet" for hair. We have to clean the linear drain out every 4 to 6 weeks of daily use. Easier to keep clean would be the drain cover made up of a single sheet of perforated stainless steel.
This ole million dollar home.😅😅
Multi million
Seeing that beam get cut up was painful.
I had to cut mantle to fit 35 years ago and never looked back.
Fabulous as usual guys
Copper shower pan.. last one i did was about 1992. Very impressive shower.
Copper shower pan is a low key flex 💪 If you know you know
It's like they sat down and thought "how can we make this project cost as much as possible?"
Looking fantastic everyone
i love the idea of the rubber roof membrain, but if there is no noticible leak how would you know there is a problem?
Good thing they had a helper do that brick work.
I love the copper pan.
That boiler will be broken down in two years. The high efficiency boilers require 3x the maintenance as a standard boiler.
Really seemed like a shame to cut down that white oak beam.
@@Navy1977 hey why did you delete all of your comments on the video from 9 days ago? "how to replace grass with a garden bed"
Is the self sealing membrane vapor permeable?
Wow, impressive. What is going to be the square footage when all done?
In my business when an ex employee got their own thing going, we said that they graduated.
If you follow period correct moldings and mantels? Like with Brent Hull? Then the chunk of wood as a mantel is not period correct unless your recreating the 80’s and 90’s ?
Yes I am a finish carpenter and hv done them at customers request but this seems or was supposed to be more affluent designs in this house? I thought ?
Brent Hull FTW, but have you seen the addition to this house? Clearly no one cares about it being architecturally well-done.
2:02 Hoo man. That 6x6 #6 mesh laying flat on the ground under the poured concrete with the guys walking on it tromping it down into the closed cell foam just to make sure that it adds absolutely no strength to the slab is kind of no bueno. Kind of surprised that you’d leave that in the edit for the episode.
In the last 6 months, Ive bid 4 linear drains and every single time, people have decided NOT to go with them after some thought.....expense and cleaning issues are common reasons. Midwestern sensibilities I guess. Been awhile since I've seen a copper pan
Love This Old House but so far this is one strange house design.
Why isn’t proper slate tiles used on houses in America.
What makes a slate tile proper
Unnecessary sqft is more important than quality roofing materials to most Americans.
@@joshua_a_boehm More like quality everything lol
Water in water out shower floor? For years know the rest of the building industry has been pitching the subfloor towards the drain prior to pan liner installation! Copper pans do not conform to a funnel like prepitch. Company and Portland cement do not well together. Copper pans are normally installed with a cast iron shower drain body. Plastic drain body assembly are not normal installed with a metal pan! The copper should be protected from the Portland cement by Appling a protective coating directly to the copper.
Myself as well I think I’ve got every magazine
why make such a complicated roof line? It makes getting solar panels impossible.
Who the heck lives in these places???
Charlie is a chip off the old block :)
Why a copper liner. Wouldn’t aluminum be better (cost & corrosion)?
No
Megan’s shoes are not OSHA compliant.
LOL BRO PLEASE
i read that in steve urkel's voice
#1- I don't wear harnesses...#2- I have been using ice & water membranes for 30 years or more, this is a tight, tight system...most guys won't use them cuz they are lazy & cheap...#3- at 65 I still like to learn...I can always glean something from these guys. Before I get put in the ground, I'd love to work w them on a project...may be my one & only bucket list
come on!!! silicone caulking sucks, gives up the ghost in 5 years
That’s the weakest link, it needs to be a soldered joint…
That's the idea. Their warranty for the job is over
