    You didn't fall victim to co part you fell victim to stupidity . When co part says non runner it's not going to be because its got no fuel or flat battery they work on commission. You seriously think they don't fire the booster pack on it before it even leaves the insurance compound before it hits co part. Co part states non runner expect a hole in the block

    Try a wet compression test if the compression rises then it's rings but you can also use a leak down tester with a air compressor and the adapter tool, but also check the timing chain/belt incase it's snapped if it has most likely bent valves if it's an interference engine, if it's a none interference engine no harm would have been done to the valves or pistons, loving you're videos so far keep up the amazing work and I do hope the swift can be saved someone would love it as a first car :)

    @Aleksander9003 Před 4 lety

    Hi mate,
    I did a lot of those engine, and they are bomb proof, timing chain is typical Japanese, it will never snap or jump, only problem with them is when you overheat the engine, then you can get head warped or drop a cylinder liner.
    Judging from the state of air filter, engine sucked a lot of water and as we know water does not compress, so it either snapped/bend con rods or crankshaft snapped.
    Anyway sad to see you loosing money, I hope that citigo is going to be better.
    Good luck

  • @arnolduk123
    @arnolduk123 Před 2 lety

    Timing belt has snapped, did you check it ? The wet plug is over fueling from all the cranking becuase the 1st cylinder has the intake valve open. If belt is snapped then wont get any compression but also possible damage to valves. £200-£300 would of got that engine sorted.

    If I recall, the timing belt failure leads to engine destruction (pistons hitting open valves). As well, the engine may have overheated, by neglecting to check guages and fluid levels. If you can procure a good second hand engine, (perhaps from a car in poorer body condition), you'd be set. It seems Copart are just 'jockeying around' with assorted cars, with assorted conditions.. The Suzuki, after looking at the air filter, and particulate matter in it, would have had a diagnostic warning light on for some time..

    I know it probably comes down to time, but It would’ve been nice to see it stripped down and diagnosed. As soon as I saw that air filter I thought the same as you, it’s sucked in water and bent valves, a cheap borescope/endoscope is well worth keeping in your toolbox, I would have expected to see signs of water ingress in the bores given how long cars sit at copart for.

    If all the rods are bent then it would explain the near zero compression on all cylinders.
    I don't know the engines so i've no idea if they are belt or chain driven cams, not many cars have chain drive these days.

    I was wrong saying the car was listed as a non runner. It WAS NOT listed as a non runner. .nothing in the notes or description said non runner. I concluded it wouldn't start from a picture of the dashboard with rpm at zero and ignition lights were on.

    This engine has been hydrolocked which resulted in the taming chain snapping. They would have used the body damage to claim against their insurance.

    Strip it Steve .. £200 for gearbox if its ok, then you've the alloys headlights etc.. Had one and it overheat as thermostate gave up the ghost and roasted the engine.😒 heads are soft on them. Wasn't worth fixing at the time. Was told from susuki macanic it's normally gearboxes that go on them. And there about £200.. So if you can strip it and get some ££££back Steve

      Doesn't have cambelt. It's cam chain. You'd know if the chain snapped cause it wouldn't turn over due to them being interference engines

    Had this problem on a Suzuki Jimny
    Fuel from flooded engine had washed oil from cylinder bores.
    Suzuki mechanic told me to squirt small amount of engine oil down each bore.
    Compression restored.
    Worked for me.
    Worth a try ?

    • @Sparkplugsteve
      @Sparkplugsteve  Před 4 lety

      A wet test will raise compression but when compression is near zero there's no hope for it . Valves are open on the compression stroke which I think is because of a jumped timing chain.
