- Final reveal of my finished 1:12th scale Monogram '57 Chevy Bel Air model kit. Here I show you the model and talk about some of the issues I had to overcome to make the trim parts fit properly.
I'm not even a modeler but I enjoy Boyd's videos and subscribe to his channel. It's fun to watch his passion and generosity for the hobby, and his skills are incredible.
❤ Love your 57 Chevy Belair, she's just drop dead gorgeous! You have done some amazing work here! It was a pleasure watching all 3 videos on this car! You are an amazing model car builder!❤
Thank you :)
turned, out gorgeous. thats is an awesome job. nicely done. the interior, looks fantastic. thanks for sharing. till next time. have a great day. thanks. mike.
Thanks.
First I guestioned the color but the more you showed the more I liked it. Everyone does red or black which looks great too but the silver is a great change. Nice job 👍. I am doing that large 1/8 scale 67 Bette and wishing you did video on that. I have an old kit of my own but got a new / used kit to go with. One stock one race I hope. I will be watching the chrome. Thanks
Joe
Thanks, I decided on the Silver color to be different but it was a factory color option for a '57 Chevy that year. Good luck with your Vette build.
Real 57s came in Silver and looked good. The original light green, and the black and white one's looked OK. However....the one I bought that turned out to be my favorite (after my many modifications including COLOR) was in original PINK! LOL I pulled it into the yard (around 1972 or so). When my wife saw it, she said "Yuck....get that thing hidden around back!") I paid $375 for it, and the one I had bought for my wife a couple of years earlier cost $75! Both two-door Sedans, running with rust-free bodies, and licensed with good titles.
BTW, both of those cars (before I made the major modifications to mine) were used in the Movie "Crisis at Central High), about the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, AR. They repainted them with water based paint and made them look like Black & White police cars.
That turned out awesome! Really excellent job and fantastic details.
Thanks.
The silver looks brilliant. Awesome build.
Great looking 57 Chevy. Look the color combo you went with.
Thanks, I wanted to go a little different than black or red on the body color.
Excellent build there my friend that engine bay is really detailed the paint job looks great top job stay safe 👍🙏
Thanks, it's a decent kit with a little extra work.
Sweet build. Awesome job.
Nice build up of a true classic!
This looks so awesome Boyd!! This kit was the first kit i had to use epoxy on. specifically for the front bumper! I think your build is definite winner for sure!
Thanks, yes I think I'll go back and put some epoxy on the front bumper for sure. I enjoyed watching your build of the kit and it was a big inspiration.
@@TrekWorks wow! Thank you!
Looking great Boyd.
Joe Martin And Dave Kindig would be proud!
Love ur vids bro, I'm in georgetown Texas, I work in a grocery store so it was crazy during the winter storm.
Great build, an outstanding modeler!
I built this kit in about 1978 looked great i thought a bit crude in detail compared to Tamia but if I recall it was cheap for a large model.
I started following you for star trek model tips to learn, but I see your great on cars as well!👍🏁🏆
Thanks I'll give it a try
That turned out great.
Looks Really Good Boyd. Love the red on silver!!!
A great build again and I love that paintwork, i have the station wagon version in the same scale

'57 Turned out great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man.
Looks fantastic
Gonna be great to watch the Eagle build.
Great looking build
cool build
easy on the eyes.....she's a beaut!
Great build Boyd!
Thanks Kenny.
As always Boyd... An amazing job. Wish a company would do a christine Plymouth. I have two 1/18 Christine's with working headlights. No green light up dash and music unfortunately.
AMT makes a 1/24th scale Christine model kit. It looks great but the engine is wrong in it.
@@TrekWorks I had two of them. Built them and gave one to my dad. Not sure what happened to the other. Have a great day Boyd.
Great Job Boyd,my wife's favorite car Doc BC
Really cool build. Thanks for sharing putting the foil on. Keep it up!
Wow this turned out really nice. And love the colors too.
Thanks.
Car came out the year I was born, the car looks great
I had to do the same thing on mine when I built it I still have another one I haven't built yet
cool man
Looking very good Boyd. Looking forward toward the Eagle too. I was wondering what was happening with the Polar lights Robby the Robot that you announced a few months back. I personally have the kit and a few aftermarket stuff including the Starling-tech.com lighting kit.
Robby got put on the back burner after I worked on the large Walmart version. I hope to get back to finishing it at some point.
Do you have a step by step tutorial on how to prep & paint this 57 Chevy?
Nice
Where you find that kit? I had that kit at 16yrs old... I did the vert cut opened doors trunk and hydraulics candy blue over heavy metal flakes! Been looking to rebuild it but way better than I did as a kid!
I can almost hear the car begging to become a Batmobile!
I just picked up this kit on ebay. Paid $95 for the kit and the S&H, Did you glue the interior to the body. or the frame ? Planning a silver basecoat, like yours, and a topcoat of plum crazy purple. My wifes favorite car and her favorite color. More to follow.
Could you explain your use of bare metal foil on badges and emblems? I have already used the foil on my cars straight run of moldings but I've struggled painting emblems any advice helps, thanks for sharing.
I use a very small, very good paint brush and do them by hand. I thin the paint way down also.
Being that it's foil, if I make a mistake, with a little thinner on a fine tip Q tip I can wipe the paint off and try again until I get it right.
Could you show how you made radio clamps
They are just pieces of the foil wrapped around the hoses.
