  • We spent 10 days exploring the Kitimat River in British Columbia in search of king salmon. We found both the popular fishing holes, as well as more challenging to reach fishing holes. We only hooked one king during our stay. We also caught one pink during a guided drift boat fishing excursion, along with several trout. We hope this video will help you if you are looking for places to fish the Kitimat River.

We hope you will join us soon as we head north to explore the Nass River and it's tributaries (Tseax, Kiteen, and the Cranberry) in search of king salmon.

Thank you! We are eating some fresh fish along the way ;-). Had a jack Chinook for dinner last night - delicious! Thanks for watching!

Some of my dad's relatives or friends from Kerimäki, Finland moved to Canada in the 70´s (?) and they live in Kitimat, Canada. I love Canada and I would like to visit there, because I love that kind of nature (lots of forest and mountains, like in Norway. Here in in Finland we don't have as much mountains, but we have so much forest and lakes). 😀

British Columbia is beautiful! Be sure to visit, Jasper, Lake Louise, and Banff if you get the chance to come over. Those Canadian Rockies remind me of the Alps!

Thinking of going there this summer and this helps plus there are a lot of local areas that are great. Just for me a super successful fisherman for salmon. First and more important thing is knowing how they travel.

This river is a fantastic river to fish for Chinooks, Coho, Chum and Pink Salmon as well as Cutthroat’s, Dolly Varden and the incredible Spring Steelhead runs! Always best to hire a good local guide to show you the best regions for your target species and best methods to get hooked up! Always best to contact regional guides to get fishing reports and water conditions as this river can turn in the event of poor weather and spring snow freshets! Cheers to all that visit!

Well said! Beautiful river, but nothing like local guides and information to help with catching ;-)

    What about fly fishing ?

The only king I hooked was at the power line hole on a black ant pattern tied onto a #4 Gamakatsu hook. Usually drifting flies for kings works great, but I didn’t have much luck on the Kitimat.
