I still own this game for Gamecube. Idk why I loved it so much but I went out of my way to find it in game stores years after renting it from Blockbuster.
This game was indeed like a fever dream. It has this weird feel to it no other game has.

Ahhhhh, Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. For years I had fragmented memories of this game. From racing Squidward and letting him win to the fever dream puzzles. The early PS2 days were cursed af.

Vote for next time: Scooby-Doo! I LOVED that game as a kid and actually still go back to it sometimes now, it's so fun! Naff camera angles but the gameplay and mechanics were great!
On to this video though: The first time I played this Spongebob game, I genuinely enjoyed it and had a lot of fun buuuut... looking back on it, yeah it hasn't aged well at all and was pretty janky. I had frustrations with it but I enjoyed it too much to really care? Idk, child me liked pretty colours in games and running around collecting shiny things.

Same! I loved that game so much, and find myself replaying it every so often. I remember I liked it because of how it felt like an episode of one of the older Scooby series, with the awesome sound track, villain selection and artstyle.

Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights is unironically one of my favourite PS2 games. Got it on an emulator last year and had a blast playing through it again.

From what I remember, it felt like an RE4 imitator for kids, and also had a playable fictitious 8-bit arcade game called Thou Art Dead that was kind of like Ghosts and Goblins.

Fun fact. My parents gave me a PS2 for Christmas in 2002 and this was the first game I got. I was four years old and being a SpongeBob fan I loved this game.
I knew it was bad but I still played it. At 22 I still play it, I know it is subpar but it's just one of those games that just stick with you, nostalgic and sometimes annoying. I have some fond memories playing this game with my older sisters who now live in separate countries.
When I want to go back, I sit back and play this game once more to go back to those simpler times without a worry in the world. Wish I could go back and experience it for the first time.
Same with my sister, although she was 6 not 4. We still enjoy it even though it's not really the best game, but certainly not a "terrible game that killed the company" since most people think that's the story. I wonder how many other kids got a Ps2 and this game that year, lol.

I replayed this a few years ago and the copy I got had a glitch where nearly everytime I left the map to another it would undo any objective I cleared in the map I left. This would happen at random and i was just lucky enough to save and replay portions without it becoming impossible but it sure was irritating AF.
All PS2 versions of this game are like that. The GameCube version doesn’t have that.

I remember for some reason as a kid, This game didnt work on my ps2 slim so i had to go to my friend who had the big ps2 to even play this. As soon as i walked outside the game crashed

i used to be obsessed with that game as a kid, even though it only had english audio and writing - and i was just a young german child who only understood basic english words. i basically played the thing while barely understanding anything that it told me to do
Same here. I got confused thinking I had to find an actual bird nest for the objective where you have to go to the crow's nest because I was a dumb kid and knew nothing about ships. The game is even harder when English is not your first language 😂
