Gordon Freeman is one of the best realized characters in videogame history, and he is without a single line of dialogue. On Oct 15 2009, GameSpot users voted Gordon as "All Time Greatest Video Game Hero" Whether the voters were aware or not, Gordon winning is a testament to how strong of an impact Valve's perfected design philosophy of "never pulling the player out of the game" has on you throughout the Half-life experience. Half-life is never a passive experience; you exist in the world. The player is not portraying Gordon Freeman. Gordon Freeman is portraying the player. So you are Gordon, which in itself is a representation of the game as a whole, an embodiment of the experience's entirety.
I just blew my mind.
But because you are a silent protagonist, it's up to the characters that react to you in the world you are immersed in (most notably Alyx Vance) to create your "personality". She's a perfect tool to get around Gordon's limitations within the narrative. I focused the video around her since in-game she's used as a means of evoking emotional responses from the player and that's perfect for a video. - Hry

Dammit, I knew I shouldn't watch it again.. So many years have passed and this still makes me feel the same.
This video is the reason why I decided to play Half-Life 2 in 2007. The montage, the music choice, the moments... I was in love with Alyx Vance actually at that time. Gosh... I wish there were more Half Life but nah... They won't do it :(
I come here from time to time to tribute the greatest video game ever and its perfect montage. Great work man. Glad to see this haven't been deleted.
Watching this video again has reminded me after these long years how amazing Half-Life is. I know Valve will finish the series, it's just a matter of when. I personally feel 2016 will be the year for Half-Life 3, if not, 2017 (at least with VR, Source 2, and all of these other projects Valve has had going coming to fruition).
Anyway, thank you so much for making this music video. It's at a level of beauty which I can't really figure out how to describe in words.

Beyond beautiful the trailer and the games. The half life 2 universe does an outstanding job mixing interesting science and gorgeously immersive atmosphere with great human moments worthy of any non sci-fi story.

I was very young when I saw this video. Persumly in my primary school days. I was in china，watched this video from a Chinese local video website.（I think they were just simply steal it from youtube）. People don't realize that everything in that video is live game play. The artist just enabled "no-clipping" so they could fly around. There are no cut-scenes. It shouldn't even be considered a "video game" in the way we understand them... It's an epic odyssey within a virtual fictional reality. Game Informer had it right when they said "Nothing will ever be the same."

A superior CoD developer deserves his/her praise. Developers choose what to do or not to do for their fans - they are the creators. It is generous enough of them to let us revel in such a perfect game like Call of Duty. If a CoD gamer dies he will be honored accordingly by his/her loyal fanbase of superior gamers.

Half Life 2 is a game i complete every year almost religiously its insane it is so great.
I'm not kidding when I say that I let a tear go down my cheek when I saw this. I've read the description, and I can say it's a very thoughtful psychanalysis of the Gordon/Alyx relationship. You really did good with focusing on it instead of the "OMGzombielol" I tend to find in Half-Life related videos. Brilliant, just... brilliant.

I know nothing about Half-Life; I have heard of it, seen bits and pieces, but I truly don't know what it's about. I do know of Valve though and I love all their games that I've played. Different scenes envoked different emotions and I'm astounded by that since I know nothing of the game, as I said. lol You either have amazing editing skills or the game is just awesome in itself or maybe it's the song?...it's probably all three. x)
