What game brought you into the world of tabletop gaming?

I obviously love the Barrel Aged Games lineup for introduction to new gamers, especially, Fruitoplay and Stool Pigeon! Also Trio has been a real hit.

I get a headache of the mind. That is not a game. It is busytherapy. It is even not difficult. You al start counting at the same time...

Another hater of The Mind! I'm truly stunned. I remember talking about theoretically trying to cheat it by counting after my first couple games, but we quickly decided that wouldn't really work in practice, because there's no way to make sure you're all counting at the same pace.
That's kind of what I love about it, too. You're trying to feel out the rhythm of the rest of the table, sensing when it's been long enough for everyone's comfort level to play whatever card you're holding. And that rhythm changes the more cards are in the mix, and it's always different for different players. Some people want to play really fast, some people are really timid.
It's fascinating to me that there are two comments dumping on The Mind on the first day of this video; I legitimately have never seen anyone dislike it, I didn't think that was a controversial pick. What types of games do you like? Maybe I just have a very different taste profile from board game CZcams :P

wow, I would never recommend The Mind to a non gamer. Heck I would never introduce ti to someone who is already into gaming. It is such a terrible premise. Spend time getting together with your friends to socialize, by playing a game where you aren't allowed to communicate or socialize... I wouldn't even recommend someone to pick this up if it was offered to them for free. It's terribly boring and even more friustrating.

WOW. I have literally never even spoken to someone who had tried The Mind and didn't love it. Every person I've ever played it with has immediately wanted to try it again and again. But no game is perfect for everybody, I suppose! Different strokes for different folks. What are your faves, out of curiosity?

@@KyleMcCarley I'm personally into much heavier games, but they wouldn't be good for a list like this. Xia Legends of a Drift System, Spirit Island, Star Trek Ascendancy, Planet Unknown, and Twilight Imperium are among some of my favorites.

@@Trueflights Spirit Island's great! Definitely not a good gateway game, though, you're right about that :P haven't played any of the others, but Twilight Imperium's been on the list to try for years, and I'm hearing good things about Xia!
