  • Dachas or summer houses with a garden are a special place for Russians. They're been around since the Soviet times and have been used for gardening. Today it's mostly used for a family weekend getaway. Let me give you a tour of our collective garden and show you the local pond.

Looks extremely cosy!!! In Denmark we have something similar: Tiny self- built houses usually wooden, with a small garden. It´s for people living in city apartments. They are in clusters called "kolonihaver". Btw tomatoes grow fine outdoors here. Garlic, pumpkins, blackcurrant, black cherries, apples, pears, plums and sometimes even peaches!

Please post more of these videos; the garden stuff, family stuff, walk-arounds and 'old cool buildings' and ' dachas'. My kids love it. Here In Australia where i live (at 34'South) plums do not grow well, and apples struggle too as we do not get frosty cold winters. Peaches do OK, but we have a fruit fly that ruins everything. Oranges, mandarins are best here. In a sheltered spot even Banana's grow.

I love the former Soviet Union.
I went to school before the republics became independent nations. I studied the language being in Kishinau aka Kishinove (Maldovia) and four years in Kiev, Ukraine.
In kishinove I had a girl friend which introduced me to her family and was getting fed delicious Russian food with her family and lots of time stayed couple days or a week with them.
And yes they had huge garden in their yard which includes all the fruits in this video.
Some of the best time I spent as a young student was there. I even used to take the train from Kiev to Kishinove almost once a month or shorter.
I love CCCP союз советских сосйалйцскй репапилйк aka Union of Soviet Socialist Republic.
Time and events drastically changes from the time I lived there.
Love those countries (previous republics) and their people.

I learned so much from this video.
    1. Okroshka is a potato salad served in soup form.
    2. Carbonated Milk exists and I want to try it.
    3. Dacha gardens are tiny yet the amount of production per acre is insane.
    4. Vika is camera shy.
    5. Vika likes black currants and thinks your choice of white is wrong.
    6. Clearly you did something worse than breaking into that warehouse.
    7. That basketball with the no grip brings back old summer memories.
    8. Grandma and her Gooseberries.

I can smell freedom. I was born in a siberian village and we had a nice modern house with a huge garden. When you were following the path and the sun was blinding you it remembered me of one of those beautiful and chill afternoons when I was a kid and I used to feel so happy and free. Here in Germany we have a higher standard of living but you feel less happy, because the society is cold and achievement-oriented. All you do is working and you miss all that beautiful small things the live has to offer. My dream now is to get enough money and then go back to Russia.

You are a great ambassador for Russia! Also, nice drone footage of the nearby train that ties in with your story of getting to the first dacha.

TY... I love the summer Dachas .. such a good idea! When I lived in Vienna, my grandparents also had a summer house just outside of Vienna.. I think it is a very European thing, now I learn also in Russia!
