I grew up in the Bay Area and going to Oracle Arena in the We Believe and Were Back era was so much better than Chase Center now. The energy was insane and the game were way more affordable. Families and local people from Oakland were at the games, now it’s just a bunch of rich people that started watching basketball a year ago.
Same I was in 5 th grade when this series was going on. The energy in oracle and just the Bay Area was un matched
Thats what happens when the ticket prices is so expensive and the fanbase cannot afford it
I 100% agree man, Everytime i went to Oracle it was like a damn rock concert, so loud I couldn't hear myself talk, Chase is nowhere near the same.
These past few games has been loud which is good, not as loud as Oracle though

The "We Believe" team MADE me a Warriors fan for life. Didn't know a thing about basketball until that team came along and ended our playoff drought and made history at the same time.

I feel like the 2007 We Believe and the 2013 Warriors when they upset Denver in the first round had similar energy between the two. Just a straight MADHOUSE Oracle was for both playoff teams 💛

Similar feel in ways but 2007 was the watershed moment for the franchise. Perception changed after that.

its kinda ironic when the same thing happened to the Suns, They were in the Finals last year and was balling all season long with a 64 win season then coincidently lost to the Mavs who once had this happened to them years before lol

If mavs was the 8th seed, I would definitely agree to this, but it isn't. However I just notice when dallas won their ring in 2011, they were the 3rd seed and no one expected them to win that championship. Guess who's the 3rd seed this year and no one expects them to win nba finals this year due to injuries last 2 years.
Definitely not the same thing. First, the suns are chokers. Second, the mavs were the 4th seed, not 8th.

My support to the warriors started back then with the biggest upset in nba history. The n°8 seed shocked the world, took down the number one seed, the team with the best record in RS in the 1st round of the playoffs.

It’s so interesting how perception changes over time. Back then I wasn’t a fan of those Warriors uniforms, while now I find that they look awesome.
I always thought they looked sick, but that the “The Town” black jerseys and the yellow ones are nicer.
Now the roles are reversed the Warriors are the favorites and the Mavericks are the underdogs

I still might have game 6 on an old hard drive somewhere, I use to re watch the game whenever I needed a quick chuckle.
My Aunt lived in San Francisco during this time she kept us sending golden state warriors balls and warriors jersey while us being PHX fans back then. Those times would be magical for me and my brothers we watched warriors basketball hoping the underdog would always win.
Baron Davis then left the Warriors after the postseason exit for the Clippers which frustrated the he'll outta me 😕

I’ll never forget this series I was a in high school in Houston tc my team was the Houston rockets, the rockets were in the series against Utah
And when I saw Dallas get whooped I was the happiest guy alive thinking maybe if the rockets win we can advance to the semis and beat golden state then we can go to the WCF to either face the suns or spurs

People think the modern warriors are were the team to change the game, but real fans know teams like the Suns and Warriors in the late 2000s were the teams to open peoples eyes to a new style. The knicks as well, kind of.

My favorite Warriors team of all time, even more so than our championship teams, they just had so much energy and had Oracle rockin every game, they were traveling rock stars.

Before moving to the Bay Area, I didn't even know that GSW was the Bay Area team bc of its name. I literally asked my new friend whether the Bay Area has any NBA team when I just moved to the Bay Area. He stared at me and said "of course we have one". Three years later this happened and have been the Warriors' fan since then. I was actually more into college basketball before that.

The real truth is (hate to break it to all you warriors fans) the ghost of prime MJ actually possessed Davis during that series.
At least the second time they meet in the Playoffs, the Warriors were an established championship veteran team led by Stephen Curry while the Mavs were a young team on the rise led by their young superstar in Luka Doncic.
There is one thing that didn't change and that is Chuck's hatred on the Warriors and the Bay Area but at least it wasn't the same as it was back then knowing the Warriors were the clear favorites to win the series which they did en route to another title.
i hope the warriors bring this jerseys back again.

they had this color scheme for their city jerseys last year with the word oakland in front, I think the last time they wore the we believe jerseys as throwbacks was at the last regular season game at oracle, that was in 2019.

As a Mavs fan for a long time. I’m still salty for this. A huge stain for Dirk and the mavs but it’s funny seeing stephen jackson, matt barnes feeling so high. Probably one of their best accomplishment.

The Warriors were coached by Don Nelson, the man who drafted and helped with Dirk's development in the first 6-7 seasons, knowing him and the Mavs inside out. The Mavs were outmatched on 4 out of 5 positions. So no, it was not an upset. At least not to people who have half a brain and not falling for silly media narratives.
This was a rare case of kryptonite as evident in the fact that the Warriors lost the next round miserably. If the Mavs had not met the Warriors they would have at least made it to the WCF, or even the finals, easily.

You are confused. Mavs lost to the Heat in the 2006 Finals in 6 games. This video talks about the 2007 Mav’s 67 win season and them losing to the Warriors in 5 games. SAS wins the title with a sweep of the Cavs in 2007. Mavs got 51 wins in 2008 and got bounced in the first round by the Hornets.
