WHen that slide/portamento-effect was added, ohhhh maaaann
That was near orgasmic honestly
At what sec?

Yup, that's the heart of it for sure
to unknowing people this kinda looks like magic
I am unknowing and this is magic
Who the fuck are those people?

LMFAO IKR ;) FUNNY HOW THEY CALL EM TOYS
I can still picture the laser lights penetrating the smoky dance floor as we danced to this track. This song and "Higher State of Consciousness by Josh Wink. TB-303 got you high on the dance floor without the need for drugs. It was an amazing time to be alive in 1995.
Very cool - still have no idea what's going on here.
Lol same
So the first thing he did was write the line. That’s the whole part of that song. He went back and changed some notes to higher and some lower, then went back and added effects on to some of the notes. If you watch the keys light up, you can see it was all the first pass he laid down. When he starts to add the slides, you can see what notes they’re on, and whether those are higher or lower (the programming he did in the second pass.). Then he does a pass and accents some of the notes. One pattern, many layers of slides, accents, pitch changes on top of that. He just did it really fast because he’s a pro.
@@jacknone1564 thanks man
303 sequencer is balls
@@jacknone1564 thanks for the detailed explanation! what does "accent" mean in this video? correct me if im wrong, but transposing is shifting octaves, and slide is making the notes smoothly transition into each other. but what does accent do exactly?
that slide button produces pure magic
Yes, this video clearly shows what a shitty, cumbersome bass machine TB-303 was, but that quirky slide effect and once-low resale values made it the defining element of acid house.
ah someone who got it right! nice
He was... (wait for it) Doin' It Right.
@@AndyHoward there's the door
Amazing what difference little things like those few slides can make
Of the 1000s of transcriptions online this one is the most accurate VERY NICE!
It's so weird how the week before Daft Punk "broke up" I was thinking about them and talking about how they're gonna do the score for the next Tron movie, and I hadn't thought of them in months.
You got it spot on man
Thanks man 🙏
Holy Mother of God! The sound at the end! Incredible
Wow, awesome ! The overdrive is impressive to hear when you turn it up. Keep up the good work!
It’s really handy having that little led step screen 📺
I've got a software version of this. Nowhere near as easy as it looks to program but it does produce some amazing sounds
Care to fill us in?
I guess not
@@ElectricalSwift i'm pretty sure it's the roland tb303 plugin for a digital audio software
The Roland cloud one sounds pretty nice and isn’t as hard to program
@@snardash_1197 Its really not that hard
My TD-3 just arrived in the mail today, thank you for helping me transcribe my first pattern!
Music was simple and great As funk! Best time in music for me

"simple" with serum and ableton now is very simple!

I just got a TD-3 as a total newbie and this video finally made me understand how it’s supposed to be used thank you!!
Ooooh this sound!!!! I feel like dancing!
This is magnificent!
Thank you
Wow, this is the only video I've seen that has it correct. Nice job.
Thank you 👍
one of the best videos. no words, no face, just programming
Loved it!
Love your videos dude 🙌
Thank you :)
Probably the best one I'm gonna find yet
Thanks a lot ; works very well on my TD3 :-)
I invite you to check my version :-)

This is awesome
thanks! I followed this and translated it to my Transistor Bass plugin in FL Studio. A few tweaks and it's fuckin mint. Even found the perfect drums. the overdrive function is very faithful to the physical model, I love it
Now this is FUNKY!! 🔥🔥🔥
Nailed it.
Thanks for this!
Awesome !!
I think the 6th note in the sequence is wrong, it should be a semitone lower.
aha that's awesome man
This is awesome, especially hearing the entire process! I wonder if you could do Mr Oizo - flatbeat?
Thank you! Unfortunately the Flat Beat bassline was programmed on a Korg MS20, sampled into an Akai and re-sequenced. Great track!
Estuera just uploaded a video where he explains famous presets of old synth and uses his personal MS20 to recreate Flat Beat near the end of the journey. He also tried to recreate Da Funk in a DAW, but that one sounded a bit less convincing tbh. Still worth a click :)

my fave daft punk song, nice.

This instrument is the synthesizer. You will be amazed how many dj's still use these pianos :D

So coool
Damn this was dope. I wish I could do this kinda shit

ooooohhhhhh !!!!!!
now get the main riff as well
I think the other synth line is an Korg MS-20 and I don't have one, unfortunately!

I just tryed this and All the power went off in my house🤨
I think the 9th note is an octave higher, but this is awesome. : )
I'm not sure about that. The original TB-303 only transposed up / down 1 octave, I think.
The note is clearly an octave higher on Da Funk... maybe they figured out a way to transpose it, or maybe it's not really a 303, haha.
This is awesome 😳 Can you do the outro to breathe deeper by tame imapala
Thanks 🙏 I'll give it a go over the weekend
How does anyone dislike this
Great stuff - Subscribed!
Any tips for figuring out patterns? I'm trying to recreate 'Big Muff' by Pepe Deluxe
If I'm trying to figure out a pattern, I'll listen to the track in Traktor, slow down the tempo, but maintain the key, drop cue points on every beat, then just work out the notes, one beat at a time. It helps if you plug a midi keyboard into the 303 to work out the notes.
Thanks for the reply. Makes sense I’ll give it a whirl later on. Cheers 👍🏼
I think I've figured out the pattern. I can post a video on the weekend if you want 👍
@@jonesc1978 Yes man that would be great. I've not had a chance to get the original into Traktor yet to try your method! Cheers
@@cmsslee I think this is pretty close: czcams.com/video/kgjlRNpE3Gs/video.html. It looks like they trigger the pattern from an external sequencer: maybe an MPC or an 808 and add a lot of swing to it.
Da funk
I dont get it but still fascinating
kinda sounds like tame impala
this little instrument, is one of the most OP broken Mother f0cker I ever seen, I did some random stuff and add a guitar pedal effect... damn!!! and by the way this pattern is one of the most legendary one!
That screen it's a modification? O: because seen the steps on this machine can be very usefull to programming
This got me so HAWWWWWWRD

que complejo
At first I was like meh, I can't hear Da Funk.. But on the second phase of the notes I was like: Where did that came from?! 😮
Sounds like Seven Nation Army from White stripes for some reason ...
how da funk u do it?
You must’ve practiced to program the 303 that fast
Yeah, I had some notes off camera 😀
did someone try to recreate it on the digitone?
I wonder what the accent do on this machine, I'm assuming it's a volume boost?
It increases the volume slightly, but also increases the attack of the VCA and boosts the VCF.
cant change my notes to higher or lower. i went back to step mode and still cant right
Do you have the latest firmware?
I gotta say - hate behringer all you want but their built in distortion sounds exactly like the one compared to da funk idk what roland was doing
Yeah, the overdrive on the Roland really sucks all the tone out of the sound.
Un docu sympa sur un collectionneur Français de synthés analogiques vintage qu'apprecie la french touch! Il aurait réalisé "Techno Point" un docu amateur sur la french touch a Paris en 1993 avec radio FG!

No, in the studio when they are creating a track
Noo, DJ mix songs. Some producers do live sets, but DJs don't .
Witchcraft.
1:29 Reminds me the ost of a PSX puzzle game from a demo disc, ¿Anyone?
I like his programmin because I have a TB-03. But it is no TB303 clone. Attack is better in TB303 and the VCF is more analog.
Il est pas vraiment pareil pareil, par contre sur cette vidéo on atteint la perfection de la ligne de basse mais avec la vraie TB 303
