"mama mia" was played a *lot* on a local kpop tv station when i was first introducing myself to kpop (thanks to my dog), back in 2016 or so and i fell for hara hard every time i rewatched the video...
it sucks what happened to her, esp how the family is still acting, and also the fact that nothing has even changed since...

your whole reaction is a vibe, it was totally me when i discovered kara for the first time actually not too long ago. i was obsessed, i'm telling you, obsessed! i devoured all the content i could find. variety show appearances, all the mvs, i even bought a couple of their concerts on blu-ray. when i found out how actually huge and popular they were, i was blown away, because they aren't from a big 3, i don't see a lot of their songs/choreo re-enacted on current variety shows and stuff, but make no mistake mister and the "butt dance" were both very trendy and viral at the time! this whole reaction was a great nostalgic trip, loved it. hopefully you'll do more, if not in reaction form then on your own time, because they truly have a great discography. cheers!

Truly iconic. I clicked as soon as I saw this video. Such an amazing group with great songs. DSP was such a powerhouse with talented groups but after their founder's stroke the company really only held on with the power of Kara since they were also queens in Japan. Kara was still able to put out bangers but the management side was getting so messy that there was no way the remaining members would renew in 2016. I remember when I was first getting into kpop in 2009 everyone was doing the Mr. dance. I ended up becoming hard biased to 2NE1 but Kara was a very close 2nd for favorite girl group.

Mister was originally a b-side track but it ended up gaining more popularity than the actual title track (Wanna) at the time. The song was a massive hit, the choreo went viral as well (the hip movement and the suspenders became KARA's signature). But because it was never intended to be a title track, it didn't get a music video. Later, when they decided to break into the Japanese market, they chose Mister as the lead single, re-recorded it in Japanese, and finally produced a music video for it.

Thank you so much for reacting to Kara! I honestly think that the Sweetune sound is missing in kpop at the moment - Sweetune is a producer team that made Pandora and Step (as well as a lot of other tracks for kara and other groups). They're responsible for that 80s synthy vibe that you're getting from the music! 2nd gen music, especially girl group 2nd gen music has a LOT of that sweetune goodness. Their work with 9Muses is some of the best tracks I've heard in kpop (Stellar's Marionette being one of the best gg songs of all time period). I highly recommend diving into their work because Holy Shit!! Them, monotree and dem jointz are like the trifecta of legendary producers in kpop I feel like :D
Some of Kara's other hits produced by sweetune are Lupin and Jumping! Lupin especially is ICONIC, a lot of groups covered it fghjuhytgfr

Looking back at these makes me miss the old days. Music was so different and KARA really brought out so many amazing discography. They were also a group that I thought fit each other so well in harmonization too because each have their own distinctive voices that just blend so well together. I was or yet, AM still a Kamilia ( KARA's Fandom name ). I never regretted one bit and they had so much success in their career. Coming from the deep bottom with a poor company to the top to making names. Their song "Honey" was what got them their first music award and then continue history there on, especially when "Mr" became a bigger hit for them. Thank you for checking them out, Fifi. & RIP to our angel, Goo Hara.

KARA, like WonderGirls, have some lineup changes so here you go:
    OT4 2007 - 2008:
    Gyuri
    Seungyeon
    Sunghee
    Nicole
    OT5 2008 - 2014 (the popular/iconic lineup):
    Gyuri
    Seungyeon
    Hara
    Nicole
    Jiyoung
    2nd OT4 2014 - 2016 (the last lineup before disbandment):
    Gyuri
    Seungyeon
    Hara
    Youngji
*Note: Youngji was added to the group after Nicole & Jiyoung's departure from the group. She was added to the group through the survival show KARA PROJECT which would determine who would be the new KARA member, she was a contest along with Somin of KARD. Unfortunately, DSP Media has an ass for a management and had Youngji in only 2 KARA title tracks before the disbandment, her hard work went to waste and the group disbanded before she could even cement her legacy with them and get her stamp of approval from their fans.
    Where are they now?:
Gyuri - an actress under Creative Kkot
Seungyeon - an actress under YG Entertainment sublabel YGX Entertainment
Sunghee - living a normal life, married and possibly have kids now
    Hara - an angel
Nicole - now a soloist under FRCNC
Jiyoung - an actress and a soloist in Japan under Sweet Power with a new stage name JY
Youngji - an actress and a soloist still under DSP

2004-2015 was the best era for kpop. The music was original and fun. The idols were more relaxed. Obviously there were background stuff in kpop that was not great, but musically the best era

Ive been (mostly) following you for your reactions to Dreamcatcher and Gfriend, but I love the fact that you're just going through my top girl groups from back in the day! First Sistar, now Kara - it really brings me back. Mamma Mia, Damaged Lady, and Pandora are three of my favorite tracks of all time - even though I was never a *stan* of Kara, I absolutely adore their music. So glad you finally reacted to them 😁

This reaction made me cry. As a 2nd gen stan (started getting into kpop back in 2009), Kara is a very special group to me, since they're one of the first groups I got to know and listen. 💖
