*Amber Goes Through the Fire*
Amber allowing herself to be subjected to the Forrester firing squad is the first step in her redemption. Some of you have noted that Amber only came clean with Rick because she was forced to, because Becky gave her no other choice. So that act by itself wasn’t enough to redeem her and that’s why we’re getting this performative penance, this ritual of humiliation. Amber didn’t have to go to the Forresters and tell her story and let Eric and Brooke condemn her, but she did it anyway. This is her way of taking responsibility and assuming the mantle of martyr. And not only is she crucified by Rick’s parents but then Stephanie walks in and she has to do it all over again! The next episode will be even harder and more painful for her since she had a real bond with Stephanie and disappointment cuts deeper than denouncement. But ultimately this is the only way Amber can be redeemed: the only way to be cleansed by the fire is to go through it.
Good point. Makes it easier to watch a very difficult scene.
YES! I commented the same thing, that Amber needs to "confess her sins" in order to eventually receive forgiveness.

I think Amber did a good thing by confessing herself but she may have known the Forresters would have tracked her down to make her pay in some way.
Good analysis. I like your phrase "ritual of humiliation." Adrienne Frantz's performance and body language have played it that way too ever since Amber decided to come clean. Head bowed, hands clasped, downcast. Like a lamb willingly going to the slaughter.

I still don't get how whay back in season 8. When Rick and cj were going at it. And cj said eric was ricks dad. And brioke was upset at how he knew that....didn't everyone know that.....did she forget she was married to eric.....because of being pregnant with rick.....when were they trying g to pass rick off as ridges child

From a redemption point of view, it is necessary that Amber tell this story to the Forresters herself. In a way, it's like she is "confessing her sins" so she can eventually be forgiven.

What Amber did was wrong but she was still a better mother to that baby than Brooke has ever been to her own kids. Brooke saying she would do anything to make Rick happy is a joke. We've seen her time and again put her needs over her children.

And she indeed conspired with Thorne to keep Thomas true father from anyone to know, especially Rigde. She knew rigde really was the father but maniplutated Taylor into not telling Rigde.

Stephanie was a teenager and so far the Massimo storyline has yet to be conceived. Coming from a wealthy family she would’ve been fine if Eric had chosen differently.

Please do your research Brooke never needed a child to obligate ridge to marry her! Ridge said it himself he made huge sacrifices for his children meaning marrying their mother and leaving the love of his life!

The biggest difference between Brooke and Amber, Taylor and Stephanie is that Brooke could not nab the man she wanted even after fake pregnancies, miscarriages and babies. How that must burn her stans 😂
Brooke most certainly needed a child for Ridge to marry her.
Let's recap; he proposed to her after constant pressure not only from Brooke, but also Stephanie who was doing what she could to keep Caroline and Thorne married. And then he would use excuses to not set a wedding date. Then when Ridge found out she was pregnant, was very upset . It took lectures from his parents, Storm and of course Brooke's pity party sessions for him to accept to marry her. Brooke knew the pregnancy was her best bet to hang on to him and that is why she called it "insurance policy for Thorne and Caroline's marriage". And what did Ridge do after she mis carried? I'm sure you will find a way to spin that too.
Even Eric wasn't going to marry her if she wasn't pregnant. This played out on screen, not an interpretation.
Brooke paid her dues to be part of the forrester family so i understand her frustrations with Amber.
Brooke and Eric always pulled off the united front effortlessly better than Stephanie n eric could.
