      @@BacknMetro
      Of course it was scripted. The way she walks around the back, cuts through, and sits in the one open spot on the table in front. On the same side she just came from. The camera shots, fading in and out, catching everyone's expressions acting like they didn't know she could sing. She was a singer in real life. They knew that. Its tv, they are actors. Everything is scripted
      Still amazing though. Takes nothing away from her ability. Great scene.

      @TheHomerowKeys Před rokem +13

      @@nicholasmuro1742 They knew Bonnie B. could sing from her career and influence, but this was a one-take. Most of them had never heard her sing live and the song they were going to use got pulled, so they asked Bonnie Bramlett to sing. They did this only take with this song.
      So I would say the song-break was scripted, therefore her entrance, timing, and the blocking of her coming up stage right and making her way to the table were all scripted. You need a plan in film and television. The song itself and the performance and reactions were candid. In a way, you're both right.

      That’s it, you nailed it. It’s that controlled uncontrolled-ness that’s so mesmerizing. It sounds so unrestrained but you know it’s controlled because she’s pitch perfect. I’ve always envied singers who can do that.

    This is one of the most memorable moments of television. I remember right where I was when it aired, listening to my mom humming behind me while I sat in the living room floor, and wishing I could play it one more time. I always loved it when Bonnie popped in on the show. Roseanne knew what she was doing putting her show together, and seeing Shelly Winters join in was just another beautiful part of this tapestry.
    I think and hope we all had a few special nights like this growing up. I'll always be a proud Conor!
