- Three sessions in May /June (fished 19.05.21, 25.05.21 and 24.06.21) at Procter and Gamble, West Thurrock (Essex, UK). Each session produced something, with the first two using worm baits on clipped-down and boom rigs. The third session was fished differently, with crab baits for bigger bass and boom rigs for flatfish, but didn't go to plan. Venue details, rigs and techniques are dealt with.

Hi Rod,
I fished close to this mark today, and thanks to you and the insights you give caught 4 Soles, 2 flounder and 2 eels. A great 5hr session where I dragged baits and induced bites. Thank you so much matey. I do hope this reaches you!
Nice work! Great to hear that the soles have appeared - I'll have to explore more of the area soon.
Old west thurrock power station ,good fishing spot ,had some lovely dover sols bass and flounders
Thanks for the info - much appreciated.
Hi Mick. Other than to save a blank, I hate eels...too slimy, too messy and oftentimes they tangle your snoods / mainline. I hate weed to! The first bass of the first session wasn't too shabby. A great video as always and thoroughly enjoyable. Cheers. Ken
Nice one Ken - eels are better than nothing! I used to see a lot fishing for them further upstream in days gone by, when they were more plentiful and were being caught for food! Now protected, so fewer fish for them and its a good sign that they are coming back in numbers - although I too would rather be catching something else, like soles!
Love all your videos , and love to keep watching and watch again
Thanks again!
Great as usual Rod. Your videos are always an honest view of fishing.
I appreciate that Tony!
I worked on Whitehall until my retirement. Come lunchtime, I used to go for a walk along the Embankment. At high tide, there would be a few anglers set up along there. One guy used to catch a load of eels - big ones, too - on chunks of curried cooked chicken from the supermarket. They obviously liked it. The rod would really hammer over when he got a bite.
I don't mind catching eels - though they can be a pain with twirling round your hooklengths or biting them off and my hands have been covered in slime more times this year than for a good while! Thanks for watching Laurie.
love your channel, used to fish opposite that in greenhithe and that smell 🤢 i used to get that in my garden in stone up by the bull at horns cross, im now in Devon, some nice sand on Greenhithe side and did big bass years ago under queen Elizabeth bridge
Thanks for watching and sharing John. Will be trying under the bridge and on Swanscombe peninsular in the not too distant future.
So very enjoyable and relaxing! Thank you Michael, love your videos. I always learn something new.
Thanks again Jerry.
Thanks Rod very frustrating losing fish my frustration though is far to busy to even go fishing.
Sorry to hear that! Must make to for it! Yes - and you lose more when filming and trying to get a good camera angle!
Well done for great video
Many thanks again Mark.
Well done , I enjoyed watching, and you never fail to teach me something...
Thank you .
Lmfao
Many thanks for that again Michael.
@@rodsangleuk6283 always a pleasure
Another great watch, nice 1 👍
Thank you very much Jay 👍
Good fishing around jetties Mick .think you got the best bass from jetty at Tilda factory. Lot quieter then the beaches. I like that calm.
👍👍👍👍up
Thanks Stephen 👍 I've not seen anyone else fishing whilst I've been there.
Nice to see some decent eels about. Great video.
Plenty throughout the Grays area, but not that big - still they seem to be on a comeback, just like flounders this year.
@@rodsangleuk6283 fingers crossed we continue to see the eels and the flounders next year too 👍
Rod.iam curious did you own southend tackle centre at the bottom of pier hill.ive only just started watching your videos and you look familiar.🤔
No that's not me!

Shame! Thanks for watching again Chris.
Great as always thanks 🎣
No problem Alan 👍
Nice one Michael. Thinking about the beach somewhere tomorrow or southend peir
Best of luck Stephen and thanks for watching.
@@rodsangleuk6283 hi Michael went to grays wharf 2 eels only crab City between 3 of us using 6 rods ..
Another excellent video :-) I'm always curious about the Thames marks you fish, I fished the estuary a lot in my childhood early adult years in the UK, but only ever once upstream. That was a night I caught 11 Flounders at Shellhaven, and a dead Rattlesnake (really) was found a few days later right near where I'd been fishing !! I hope to come to the UK next year to visit my parents, would love to meet up with you for a fish somewhere if that's possible
Thanks Ian - its quite difficult fishing compared to what it used to be like. I'd love to catch 11 flounders in a session nowadays.
11 flounders is nothing to be proud off
@@johnbaxter3086 I know, it was an average session back then (1980's). On the other hand, there seems to be a greater variety of fish in the Thames now
You generally seem to do better the other side of the river. Tidal flow or less industry?
I'm not sure why, but there seem to be more soles on the Kent side at the moment - though I've been catching more half decent schoolie bass on the Essex side and eels seem to be about in more numbers on both sides of the Thames. Thanks for watching Mike.
come to St osyth and try catch a ray
Will do! I have fished the groynes quite a bit in the past, but yet to try the 'naturist' area. Thanks for watching.
@@rodsangleuk6283 I fished point clear this morning had two small bass
The fish will use the support as a reef
Yes - certainly draw the fish in - catching them is another matter though!
@@rodsangleuk6283 have you tried any of the scents you can marinade your bait in ill get one if you like and post it
Always annoying losing fish and you lost a few Rods...and not one swear word heard.
Never mind pretty sure you will turn it around next time to return ...hope so
Easy to edit out the swearing! Not so easy to move cameras about whilst trying to land every fish hooked! Thanks for watching again.
