When you listen, pay silent homage and give that energy your strength in love and gratitude. The genetics in voice and rhythm are stronger. For natural elements, the CZcams algorithm does not exist. This video just popped up in my feed like an anachronism. Love and blessings to the Soul of Donny Hathaway.
Why was this not included on Never My Love, the Anthology? I find it to be one of his greatest masterpieces. No way it should’ve taken 42 years after his death for this to be discovered.
His music is timeless and this piece right here, is a jewel that has been unearthed. Shout out to the brilliant person(s) who are responsible for graciously deciding to release this masterpiece after 40+ years. I’m grateful and humbled at the same time. Rest In Peace Uncle Donny.

Had to do my research. Donny produced an album for a group called Cold Blood in 72'. They recorded this song. And on the album the original version of Donny's "Valdez In The Country" appears. He did his own version and Lalah did her cover on Kirk Whalum "Everything is Everything" album. All are amazing. Extremely captivated. Donny was that guy.

I'm still struggling to understand what happened to Soul Music. For several decades the quality was impeccable. You had Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Zapp, Sister Sledge, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Luther Vandross and on and on and on. I don't know if I'm just old, if its how music is distributed and shared, if its the sound of the instruments or production. Whatever it is, its just not the same. I couldn't name any modern Soul Singers who are anywhere near the stature or musicianship of those previously mentioned. I think the wheels came off around the time of R. Kelly as Soul started to embrace Hip Hop production methods and the two unfortunately became closer than they should have. This song is the standard for Soul Music. This is what I grew up with and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the loss.
My uncle introduce me to Donny Hathaways music in the early 70s .. now this song right here. Omg . I could listen to it over and over. RIP my brother. So much talent.

This song is so cold-blooded!! This brother was so gifted. This song touches the heart and soul and you can feel it instantly in the first few words. Yeah, its cold-blooded!!
Everything is Everything is one of my all favorite records.
That voice is perfection wow & his daughter has his gift too 🙌🏾💚
The mix of pain and hope wrapped in one beautiful voice. Incredible
Again...THE VERY BEST SINGER OF ALL TIME!!
Always glad to hear "new" music by Donny. Love this man's vocals.
A blessed voice!!!
Yesss! Every vocal and instrumental note resonates feelings in my soul!
I've waited decades to hear this, Donny with Cold Blood. Thank you.
Lydia did a fine job with this as well back in '73 I think. Heard her do it in St. Paul a dozen years ago or so.
Instant Classic!!!
Talk about soul, Donny Hathaway is the epitome of a soul singer, his smooth melodious voice, range, tone and vocal ability🎶
He was an amazing artist and it’s made evident listening to his darling daughter 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you Mack- I did know, that’s why I called🫶🏾 REST EASY MACK, rest easy🥲❤️

I love me some Donny Hathaway. Oh my words what a singer.
Yesssss!! Gonna have to find a perfect actor to do DONNY's story on film. I don't think this will happen because I can't think of ANY actor can pull this off.
Sounds like he was saying I'm sorry to the woman he loved, after she left AKA Mrs Hathaway.
