Cycling around Beijing: Hutongs, high-rises and historical sites

- I love walking, and my videos (and my step counter app) can attest to that. But today, I'm exploring Beijing not on foot, but on two wheelers. So put your helmet on, and hop into the basket of my shared bike to tour the area around the Forbidden City. We'll be racing professional cyclists on the highway, getting lost in the hutongs and checking out a lake that used to be only accessible by the imperial family. So sit back and enjoy the ride!

I mostly stick to the core urban area of Beijing, but I'm planning on venturing out to the suburbs/ extremities this spring/ summer. More for me (and you) to see!! And filming+ biking is only safe on small roads. Haha!

Im a foreigner in Beijing and I can only use the Alipay (dark blue) bikes. I tried every other type and then all require a shenfenzheng. How did you get access to that brand?
These are Didi bikes. I use their WeChat mini-program and pay with WeChat pay.

Nope. There are some risk areas here and there because of covid cases but the city isn't in lockdown.
