I used to work at a textile plant, in the lab. I remember watching the roving machine putting out the roving yarn. I never knew or even thought of it being sold this way. It was always spun into a single string in my workplace. Then, it went through 3-4 processes, depending on the customer. That was over 20 years ago.
Oh wow how fascinating!! I would love to see that... You just reminded me of my grandma, she used to make wool and I have childhood memories of watching her at the spindle...

I was giggling at Coco, my dachshund despises pillow stuffing too! I really like how you used sleeves for the gnome bodies. Wasting a pair of socks drives me nuts! I also found that tying the body with cotton string is a good idea because over time rubber bands deteriorate
