Jose Raul Capablanca was regarded as a chess prodigy, yet his father wanted him to maintain the "even tenor of the average boy's way in his youth." Capablanca moved to the USA in 1904 to complete his education. However, he left Columbia University in 1910 without a degree and pursued a career in chess.[3] His first international success was his clear win (+8 -1 =14) over the former world championship challenger in Capablanca-Marshall (1909). After that, he was considered a worthy contender for the title of world champion, and reigning champion Emanuel Lasker commented "Capablanca has shown himself to be a great player."
Capablanca's admirers had suggested a title challenge as early as 1908. Even prior to his first European tournament, León Paredes had suggested to Lasker that he play a match with Capablanca, but Lasker declined. Capablanca himself remained cautious. The hype surrounding Capablanca made Lasker admit that the subject got "on his nerves." Capablanca made his international tournament debut at San Sebastian (1911). He unexpectedly won 1st prize, a result even he hadn't anticipated.[9] About seven months after this success, he challenged Lasker to a title match.]

Agadmator...an excellent changer of backgrounds.
At 12:00 you said capablanca includes this maneuver for whatever reason, but the reason is pretty clear, capablanca simply used a series of moves that would create the same position that his turn started on, but instead it is his opponents turn in that position. He forced a zungzwang if you will by taking a position he didn’t want to work with, and passing his turn to his opponent with a series of intricate forcing moves.
What a genius.

Actually, I'm working my way through "Capablanca's Best Chess Endings" using Lichess' Stockfish analysis and often Capablanca finds better continuations on the longer and drawn out end games. Its pretty ridiculous. I think the computer often struggles to asses stale looking end games.

I love how you just casually mention how capablanca doesn't like a move his opponent may play , your vast knowledge is very impressive
But he probably calculated it, correct? In this case your statement can be taken as sarcasm. Then again, Capablanca is lazy to calculate unnecessary moves. Taking that into consideration might mean your statement can be taken as a funny joke
He mentioned in an earlier video that his Casablanca book had arrived. He's been quoting Casablanca from the book throughout the series.

I absolutely love your Capablanca series , I can't get enough of it. he is so interesting and a gentleman.
This is a beautiful game and that tactical shot in the middle game should go in the disgusting engine line series. I analyzed this game using Lichess' Stockfish and its really difficult to find any critical mistakes from Lasker. It seems to me that Capablanca grinded down his opponent and converted very small advantages. For someone who didn't study openings Capablanca knew how to shut down his opponents starting from the opening. This is game #32 in "Capablanca's Best Chess Endings" which I'm reading at the moment. I believe the key to this game was that Capablanca created an isolated pawn for his opponent and played against it. This was Lasker's mistake, that he allowed it.

I hope you still enjoy making the videos as much as I enjoy watching them. knight takes on d5, and if rook captures queen there is inbetween move knight takes on e7 with check, and after king moves bishop recaptures the rook on c2. You get 2 pieces and rook for a queen.

The audio can be improved. It looks nicer when you have better ilumination than the background. Everyone here will miss the spontaneity of your home made videos with your couch, your pillows and Medo. Customize the place, put your autographed chessboard on the wall, use a Darth Vader mug to drink water, etc.
