    Hi mate.. i have a couple of HP9470m ELITE BOOKs... one is running fine however the other has a blank screen on startup , even with an external monitor connected...the Caps Lock and Scroll lock keys blink 5 times together before i hear the fan and see a blank screen .. (ps the WIFI and Volume mute buttons at top right stay illuminated after power on)... HP 5 fashing/beeps suggest a "general mother board issue"...
    The weird thing is that as soon as you plug in the power adapter the note book AUTOMATICALLY powers up withouththe need to press the power button??
    Any advise would be great ...
    Thanks.

      Before anything try a first aid fix on it, open the laptop and remove the motherboard brush out the dust with a soft brush, then apply low he's on it with either a heat gun or hair drier, allow to cool then replace. If this doesn't work follow he instructions below.
      You will have to open the laptop, get access to the motherboard, check the power adapter section, there is supposed to be a chip that suspend the power distribution to the board when you plug in your adapter till you press the power button, check well on of the is bad, use exact one from another motherboard to replace it.

      @@dreamsetservices2847 cheers i will give it a try...it was my ex girlfriends pc after a messy break up...i did replace the hard drive with a ssd drive out of my HP pavillion TPNC125 .. i did also disconnect the CMOS battery... whether the disconnection of the CMOS battery or the possibility there was a BIOS password on the original Hard Drive msy be causing the 5 flash/beep "general motherboard failure " will be tricky to diagnose ...The computer was working before i pulled the original Sata drive and disconnected the CMOS battery..I will test the voltage on the CMOS battery and try and reinstall BIOS from USB... the weird thing is the cooling fan seems to be spinning really fast..
      thanks for your help
      peace.

      @@andrewverran3498 Hi Mate, the most common issue with this model is either the bios firmware or dead mosfet. 5 blinking error is usually caused by faulty ram modules.

    Am in Enugu (nigeria), can I get ahold of your services here for this particular laptop (hp elite book 840 g1) or if you can refer me to one of your trusted partners in the city, I would highly appreciate it. ( The power button blinks once when I plug it to the AC and nothing else happens. I have removed the battery and drained the static voltage too but it's not helpful)

    • @dreamsetservices2847
      @dreamsetservices2847  Před 2 lety +1

      If you have drained the static voltage and its still the same issue I.e (light blinks once when you plug it to light) gently remove the main board, use a workstation to heat the processor chip, set your workstation to 200 degree celcious and heat for 5mins while moving the nozzle at intervals to spread the heat evenly, this will help re-ball the processor and resolder disjointed legs.
      For now I don't of a good board level engineer in enugu
