Love this one. Great video, answering all those questions. And your right it does look awesome, great choice!
Cheers mate. Colour was never in question.
Great video! Thanks very much for the detailed overview
👍🏻
I have a Pucer thermal over for mine, great investment. Keeps the 'tent' warmer when it’s cold, cooler when it’s hot and protects the canvas from rain. Slept in mine at -6 with the diesel heater ticking over and was toasty warm. Also blocks out the light so you don’t wake up at sunrise if you don’t want to! It doesn’t do much for sound insulation though!
Yes mate. Thanks. 👍🏻
great video as usual very well presented. the black top definitely was the right decision
Ye for sure. No chance I was going white. Looks like Tupperware ha
Spot on, we found this over the weekend testing our pop top for the first time.
Wouldn’t be without it though but we did lower it before we slept “downstairs” to keep in the heat and reduce outside noise. Obviously when the kids come with us lowering it might cause issues 😂
They are perfect. Such a great invention. But they do have some draw backs.
Yet….. if that means you can have everything you need and not drive a larger van. Spot on.
Very informative vlog, totally agree with everything you said 👍🏻
Thanks matey 👍🏻
Great video mate, can’t think of anything you left out. If anyone was on the the fence about buying a pop top then this will help them decide for sure 👍🏻
Ha ha. Cheers matey 👍🏻
I’ve had an Austop for 2 years now and the roof it’s self is a game changer in a SWB T6. The solvent smells do gradually disappear but I totally get where you’re coming from. Yes it’s dam cold but when it is down I think it adds to the insulation properties. Also yes the canvas does weep when it’s heavy rain but not that bad. I can honestly say if it was used to sleep every trip then without a doubt definitely go for a cover.
Ours was fitted by a clown and I do worry that it might not be as strong as it could be. The front brace instead of using set screws to screw into the captive nuts fitted in the factory they have used tech screws through the brace and into the vehicle structure.
I like the idea of that froli sprung bed, we were not told about that option when we had ours fitted.
I have seen too many poptops with roof racks and boxes fitted, the way I think about it is that anything like that increases the forces trying to open the roof as you drive a long.
Does your roof creek at all especially when manoeuvring slowly over bumps?
Great comment. Yes it does creak a tiny bit. And you’re right. When manoeuvring over undulations and such. This was fitted well. Made a vid on it.
Poptops are great…. And not ha.
Def a must.
Hey Bud, I have a Reimo Poptop and they also offer thermal mats for each model. No probs with staying outdoors with temperatures below 0°C. But I also have an Autoterm 2D installed in my T6😉
Yes mate. Nice. Have a diesel heater going in mine soon 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Our T5 has a pop top the van is white and the pop top lid was black this attracted the heat on sunny days so I had it painted body colour this has made a noticeable difference to internal temperature on sunny days, the canvas is a light colour too which also helps but lets the light in in the mornings.
Excellent. I have a pop top cover now and it makes such a difference. In cold and hot climates.
@@urbanarkoverland We don’t sleep “upstairs” but in the winter at night we pull the top bunk down and its mattress forward to close off the access hole so to as to keep the “downstairs” warm, we’ve slept out all year round in all sorts of weather and never been cold (except one night before we had the Eberspacher heater). Subbed 👍🏻🇬🇧
@@AJ-qn6gd ye. So much heat gets lost through the pop too huh
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video I think pop tops are a trend if you have a sink etc you couldn’t stand and use it. It changes a camper into a tent, it’s like the must have mod. I can see it if you have kids if not a awning with sides is much better as a useable area
It’s strange. Because they are great. But also not ha ha
With our lwb sprinter we have noticed the atek roof is noticeably cooler than downstairs even with the diesel heater on. Getting heat into the roof is prooving a challenge
May be look into a thermal cover. You can get them inside or out. Inside would be a lot easier of course
Really should have my T5 sorted out with one ... nights are pretty sweaty here in Spain and would value that massive amount of air flow!
Ooh yeah. Sun roof style 👍🏻
@@urbanarkoverland Could sun tan in bed
@@advanturemagazine for sure. Not sure how you manage without one
Rainbow blinds Great Product
2nd person now 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks
I’m now looking at mattress’s
Ha. Does yours have anything yet??
@@urbanarkoverland no not yet but it’s now high on the list after the weekend.
@@Bugoutvehiclesuk no doubt. You stay in ya fixed bed though yeah?
@@urbanarkoverland yea but I need the other one doing for the fam
When’s the ovano draw vlog mate just ordered one
Good man. Be a week Tuesday.
Rainbow screens do a decent poptop cover
Thanks you.
3rd person to mention rainbow screens. Thanks
I hope that bed is more reliable than a " Ferolli boiler" 🙂
Ha ha. Everything more reliable than a ferolli boiler
hi uao im thinking of getting my van popped but yes i do have a lot of questions .like is this poptop any good . is it noisy .does it leak . is it better than a westdubs poptop ? its alot of money and very vital to your van so getting it wrong isnt an option .you would know better than me so was looking for abit of advice . on which top to go for .my budget is 5k ?? or would i be better buying a horizon top .?
Horizon are very highly thought of for sure.
Do they leak. No. Not if installed correctly.
Are they noisy? When open. It’s basically a tent. Remember that. Same for heat loss etc.
I have grown to absolutely love mine.
@@urbanarkoverland do you get alot of wind noise when driving ?
@@kinderkev no idea. Installed that 3pm today ha ha.
How much does a pop top add to the weight of the van?
Can’t be sure. Would have to check with manufacturer.
Do you have a swb or long?
This is long 👍🏻
Does a diesel heater keep u warm in the pop top?
Yes mate. It will certainly help. Diesel heater next. Ready for some winter travels.
Wasn’t sure if the heat would make its way up there 😂.
Cheers mate 👍🏻
@@thesparky1212 ye mate. It will take more than a conventional solid van. But heat rises…. Eventually ha
Great informative vlog , totally agree with everything u said 👍🏻
@@vandox21 cheers matey 👍🏻👍🏻
What weight can a pop top carry ?
Each are different. This one is 25kg max.
That sounds wrong surely ? I was wanting two adults to be able to sleep there
@@paularmstrong2724 sorry mate….. I assumed you meant the lid. Like roof rack on top of the actual pop top.
Mine is rated to 160 I believe. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How much did you pay for your van ?
Wow.
Hi mate. Love the channel.
Mind me asking what you paid for your van.
Thanks
As the saying goes.... buy cheap, buy twice!
Exactly. That’s what I was trying to insinuate. 👍🏻👍🏻
