    Nice video ;)
Regarding the letter - I don't put the stamps on, post office workers do and they choose according to the amount I paid for the shipping, but I agree quite random amounts (I didn't know we had these values :D )

The main reason why the 50 cent piece was pulled from circulation here in Canada was the introduction of the dollar coin.
Not because it was impractical or anything, they were always uncommon even when circulated. But rather they were too close in size and weight, and vending machines etc were unable to differentiate the two, so machines were being cheated.

Ah, I thought they would have took the 50 cent into consideration when they came up with the loonie... Just make it a different size or something 😅

@@EireEuroCoins They are noticably different in size. When the dollar coin was introduced even then the 50 cent was rarely used.
My understanding (it's a touch before my time) is that the biggest issue was video gambling machines, slots etc. Seems they underwent lazy programming updates and read anything anything heavier than a quarter to be this new dollar coin.
Well, the gamblers figured out they could play the dollar slots for 50 cents by using a 50 cent piece. And the casinos all of a sudden had this mass influx of 50 cent coins they had never encountered before. And they figured it out, and the government certainly doesn't like not getting their money (most gambling, especially then in Canada has much greater state involvement than in Europe)

And I should have added, George VI is on the 2021 commemorative 50 cent because the 1st 50 coin to feature that coat of arms was the 1937 redesign following his coming to the throne.
So while the coat of arms itself predated his reign, he was the first monarch to feature on a coin that used it.
And a final note, just be aware the mintage numbers for Canadian commemorative dollar and two dollars on Numista (where I suspect you are getting your numbers) are wrong, or at best misleading.
They tend to be only the numbers of coins in specially marked mint rolls. So for example, the 375,000 is that. There are additional production numbers in unmarked 'standard' rolls. In general ,most of our modern loony and toonie are 2 million of the coloured and 1 million of the uncoloured variant.

Okay, that is weird reasoning.... I would waited 16 years to commemorate that redesign.... Or just celebrate the Coat of Arms on the 2021 coin with the normal reverse.
Yeah, was going on Numista. I guess they have not got the fully up to date mintage figure yet.

The reason for King George 6th portrait on the 50 cent and not George 5th is daft but understandable.
It is a reproduction of the first half dollar coin in 1937.

Can we all agree that Canada is now producing the best coins in the world.
It's not just the subtle use of colour but the overall quality of the design and manufacture.

Actually , for me the Romanian commemorative coins look the best due all their intricate designs engraved in it , also their definitive coins are very bland and boring in design, therefore these completely beautiful do not get the attention they should get . Also if you ask me which country produces the best coins ,then I have to choose Australia as the most appropriate candidate , the Stuart Devlin designs always remained to me one of the most fascinating ones I have ever seen, Canada in my opinion trailing behind Australia by a little bit , I may be biased also due to the popularity of the silver bullions minted at Perth mint which are arguably one of the best quality bullions one can ever get his hands on .

I agree, I would also put Australia up there too.
Hoping the era of a new monarch on British coins, a new portrait and that - the Royal Mint might see it as a chance to experiment with colour on circulating coins? 🤞
