    Just in case since you only mentioned getting the eggs ready for incubating not cleaning the tub...
    For ball pythons, you can take a little bit of dishsoap water and give mom a quick bath. give the tub a good clean as well. It gets rid of the egg smell so the mommas don't keep thinking there might be eggs nearby and get them eating again a bit quicker.

    i do wanna say that i (personally believe) that about 6 eggs is average for ball pythons to lay, thats what i normally get anyways but i have had snakes lay 8 eggs or even 13! which is a lot or again i personally think so. also with the banana, if it is a male maker then banana's should come out male and everything else female, tho there's something like a 5% chance of getting a female banana.

      Ball pythons (and most pythons as far as I know) DO actually hold on to their eggs and protect them during incubation.
      Other than colubrids, pythons brood on the eggs.
      Most breeders take away the eggs anyway because the snake mom wouldn't eat during that time, which is a health risk, and the eggs have a better hatch rate in a controlled enviroment like an incubator. She won't care about the babys once they are hatched anyway. But it is pretty interesting to note that they actually care for the eggs.

  • @brucebrazaitis321
    @brucebrazaitis321 Před rokem +13

    Just to tell you ball pythons incubate their eggs. They twitch their body to create heat and can raise the temeperature above ambient air temperature .
    To do maternal incubation you just need a nest box with moss or cypress mulch to keep the humidity up. The female coils will get tighter if it gets too cool. Mist the nest box daily to keep the substrate moist not wet. The female will drink water from drops on coils if she is thirsty. The last couple of weeks of incubation the female will leave the clutch to go hunting and they will eat during this time. When the eggs slit the female will be on the clutch like glue until the babies emerge. This same behavior is done by blood pythons.
    Burmese pythons on the other hand do not feed for the entire incubation then when the eggs slit they are out of there! They just want to get a good drink and a shed then a meal. One thing I noticed with Burmese is that there were always a few eggs that would roll away from the main clutch. Those eggs placed in an incubator would aways hatch after the maternally incubated ones by a week or two. I always wondered if the twictching made the babies develop faster.
    So if you want to try this so if you can keep the humidity and temperature in the right range you don't need an incubator. Mind you in Miami during the summer humidity was never a problem. The females would be lonely coiled during the day and tighten up up at night when things cooled down a little.

It's 4 times the size & made of cheap plastic--it would eventually break if you tried to use it as a pool ball, & it won't fit into the pockets in the table. I think Emily is right, they *aren't* the same.😼

    • @AVDB95
      @AVDB95 Před rokem +6

      @@squeakybgaming Not a big fan off that gene either. If I ever get a ball pyhton it will not be a spider. There seem to be some spiders with little symptoms, so I get why some want them and there are still breeders. For me though it's not worth the risk.
      It's the same with the kakariki (parakeets) that I have and ocasionally breed. I will never get birds with the fallow gene as they are just weaker. Breeding hets off that gene together or 1 het and 1vissible you will notice that the fallow chicks grow slower and have higher death rates than the other ones. When breeding vissible fallows together you can loose up to half off the chicks before fledging. Just not worth it and enough other morphs that don't give these problems.

      The cue ball is different, yes. I think she meant just standard billiard balls. But the magic 8 ball is designed exactly like the black 8 billiard ball, so Ed isn't actually incorrect necessarily.

    Hahaha I love the theme you chose for decorating the tops of the eggs, brilliantly punny. Hope you're all doing well, hope you can find a good part timer or two soon! I'd apply myself, but I'm all the way up in Canada XD Also, I wonder if there might be a way to get a camera in the incubator for real, like another streaming camera, I wonder if it'd be too warm or humid? Not sure how that'd work. Lots of love and good vibes to you all! Take good care and stay safe!

    That's a big clutch for a first time momma! Typically it would be less for a first time, but not always and I think 11 is the normal large clutch so she was almost there, but I have witnessed more. That was impressive of her and they do look beautiful! There's so many BPs in the trade and so many that are given up, I hope these guys go to good homes. Lifers!

    When they said sportsballs it reminded me of a chant our band used to do at football game where one person would stand up and go “When I say Go, you say Sportsball!” And then we’d say it twice, and then we would cheer and say “Go Hockey!”

    Yay! That's so awesome! You can actually incubate bp eggs seperated or in a clump like you did. Most breeders I know do it seperated. I'm so excited to see what you get! Especially the banana side since most tend to be male. If you found yourself a female maker that would be awesome!

      Yes, I was thinking same thing bout them really needing to separate the eggs. Keeps the other eggs from going bad if there’s one that goes bad.

    congrats. I watch many ball python breeders and the way you took mom off was perfect but for future reference I would still separate the eggs like you do with your other snakes. Ofc in the wild, they would be stuck together to do transfer heat to another but I see ball python breeders separate them.
