- Face morphing is fun, face morphing is cool and so is after effects. In this after effects tutorial i'll show you how I do a face morph, with out any third party plugins. NONE, you can do this with plain vanilla after effects. So fire up AE and lets get started.

A couple of suggestions I would add, make sure the other guy is wearing the same t-shirt and shirt.This way when the face morph occurs it doesn't distract the viewer from looking away at the face and eyeing the cross fade of the different shirts instead. Also I would mask both actors with a background plate. That way the background's creases don't change with the transition.
Adding those into account the face morph effect will look more effective when you show it. Just my two cents.

Thanks but that example looks more like a crossfade, not a real morph.

Nice tutorial. Quick, visual, how to. Nice sw! Often the GUI looks very complex, tedious, and off-putting to newbies, so this kind of demonstration helps counter act that and build their confidence :)

Cobi Noblin that sounds nearly impossible, depending on what you want to morph, but maybe low shutter and make the blur cover it?

Hi , i did it and it work well for de face morphing part, but the problem is with my lite grey background: it become more dark during the transition (the 2 footages has the same light) i guess we dont see this default on a black background like in this tutorial... Any clue?

I followed this tutorial really closely using my own footage, but can't get it to work properly. I fine-tuned the liquify effect frame-by-frame on the top/end layer, but mid-way through the morph, when I switch to doing the same on the start/bottom layer the distortion effects pre mid-point frames on that layer, so it un-syncs all the work I've done matching the two layers up to that point. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me crazy!

This is not really morphing tho is it? It's just a well timed cross fade.
It is morphing, not just a cross fade. there is reshaping going on, which is what all of the paid morphing plugins do.

Me and my friend are planning on doing a morph with motion me and her both have planned it out but man this looks difficult we won't be doing a fast shaking on just a smooth morph into each other while moving help!!! Lol

Static shots work too. But sometimes movement can hide imperfections in the morph and makes it more believable.

hi, one question, do i need a green screen to realice this fx?
It makes it a lot easier it won't work right unless you have a solid background so green white or black.

+Santi Magariños Yeah, you've probably figured it out by now but if you've got the correct lighting a white solid wall should work. The problem with whites is that if you have white skin it can be difficult to key out the background without taking chunks from your face. Ideally you want to use green or blue as they are the colors furthest from any natural skin colors.

This technique would work for a video like this. You might have to do some additional masking or what not.

Nope, that is just to sync the audio. you can do the visuals without it.
