- From Monday Night Football in 1987 comes this memorable show down between the Los Angeles Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks. It's Bo Jackson in his Tecmo Bowl level prime colliding with the NFL's brash trash talking rookie sensation Brian Bozworth (aka The Boz) in a battle that will see one of them catapulted into MNF history and the other mowed down and plunged into obscurity. Enjoy everyone.
Back then "Monday night football was an event"..the build up..presentation..the game itself..all was a notch above todays standards.
Absolutely even the Announcers were Great..Frank & Al were Awesome Dan Deardorff was good. But nothing was Better then Frank Howard & Dandy Don. Our parents were lucky look who they got to listen to & look at Junk we have to listen 2DAY
i guess im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Sonny Calvin Instablaster ;)
Way above today's standards
Before every minute was commercialized. 👍
This was the first Monday Night Football game, I ever watched. Watching Bo Jackson run the length of the field and through the tunnel, and watching his teammates run in after him. I also remember watching Marcus Allen make, what I thought was the best catch, I had ever seen, in this game.
What a backfield for the Raiders. Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen. Love these old NFL games.
Man, what a trio of broadcasters these guys were.! I miss these games!
The best they were
Amen. MNF at its height..
You're not including Dennis Miller on MNF? LMAO
Ahhhh.... the great Raiders memories! Techno bowl was right about Bo and Marcus. One word: Unstoppable!
I was the only Raider fan in a bar full of Sea-Chicken fans for this game. Man they were stoked when Seattle scored the first TD. After that, all you could hear was me when the Bo Show took over.
Yeah, one of the few times that the Raiders offense actually silenced the Kingdome crowd. Bo was an awesome athlete, as was Marcus Allen.
@@zenpaganwarrior Cool story..
I remember watching this game as a sophomore in high school. After this game, they called bozworth the ‘11 million dollar bust!’ Memories!
This is a walk down memory lane. I was in high school and I remember watching this game at my parents house. This bring back great memories!!! Thanks for sharing the game!!!
Thank you for posting this. It's always great to see the highlights with the proper context, before and after.
I love watching legendary moments in the context of the entire game
Thank you for Bran for posting another classic game. I have a shorter version of this game, so this is great to see. Thanks man!
I was at this game!
You’re old!
Back when TV was free.
James Murray 😁😁😁 so true💯💯
Monday night football yes, TV no
Cable was around and full effect back then
Facts
James Lofton was a great wide receiver. He was still one of the top deep threats in the league even when he was in his mid 30's. I believe he went to the Pro Bowl twice very late in his career while playing for Buffalo. I know he went at least once as a member of the Bills
Classy man.
Thanks for posting this with all the commercials. I'm from Washington State, and I remember a lot of these commercials. :-)
How are Jim Plunkett, Cliff Branch, and Tom Flores all not in the Hall of Fame? Makes no sense whatsoever
Plunkett has much better creds than Namath. He overcame a ton of adversity. His 'problem' was a lack of charisma. Evidently that holds a lot of weight with HOF voters.
Don't forget Lester Hayes
Plunkett shouldn’t be in the Hall. Yes he won 2 SBs yes but his stats r horrendous. Need to do a little more if u win 2 SBs. Plunkett constantly kept losing his starting job. Eli Manning won 2 SBs and he’s top 10 in passing yards and TD passes. Just Because you win 2 Super Bowls doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to get in you have to do other stuff around that
Include Lester Hayes and Rod Martin... my favorite two all time defensive players
Tom Flores is now in the Hall of Fame
Brian met Bo at the 2 yard line, but Bo had the momentum and carried Bosworth into the end zone on a beautiful play by both players! That's football 🏈. I remember watching this game.
8:34 That's just an obscene amount of talent right there.
Dokie
I keep wanting to adjust my tracking. :p
Thanks so much for this upload, truly a classic game!
I remember watching this game after I got home from CCD and the Bo Jackson-Bosworth thing...
Great video, thanks for uploading. I was at this game down in the second row. I was a huge Raiders fan then, and hated the Seahawks with a passion. While the Raiders were warming up before the game their safety, Stacey Toran #30, was within earshot. I called out to him, got his attention, and told him to "stick somebody" in the game. Dude delivered. Check out the way he hits the Seahawks' receiver Paul Skansi at 1:11:40 into this video. That hit would be illegal today, and for good reason. To his credit, Skansi somehow hung onto the football. Toran later died way too young in a car accident. RIP Stacey.
Bo's TDs are at 35:20, 42:20, and 1:25:10. Great post. Happy 55th Bo!
35:20 42:20 1:25:10 Bo knows TDS
How time flies, remember watching this game as youngster. Love sports back in the 80’s. Before networks turned NFL into soap opera.
No kneeling
Creepy
Our generation has a lot more shared memories
This is where Bo earned his Tecmo Bowl stats !
Love you BO, Haynes, Allen long, Flores, plunket. ❤️ Townsend
This Raider team was my favorite. Was a great time to be a fan.
I was born during this game! It was Bo's 25th birthday too!
Kenny Easley looked really slow on that long TD run.
For the record, Kenny Easley is a hall of famer.
"It's almost unfair..." Truer words were never spoken.
Was interesting here: Hawks came off of pounding the AFC West-leading Chargers and were just a game back (also held the head to head since they only played once due to the strike), also beat the eventual AFC champion Broncos on SNF two weeks later but this began a 2-3 sputter into the playoffs and a horrible loss to the Oilers (thanks to a blown replay) in what was to be Kenny Easley's final game.
MGB I remember replay clearly showed Fred Young had his hands underneath the ball for the pick. That one hurt
Fantastic rivalry from their inception. The Seahawks always played the Raiders tough. Boz? A clown, not even a blip in NFL history. Bo? Legend.
“It’s like little kids chasing a grown man” lol.
Mark Wilson was on of the worst QBs ever, right there with Marinovich and Russell for the Raiders.
Bad QB choices and not handling Marcus Allen situation at the end of his time really made a mess of Mr. Al Davis
Only reason the Raiders stuck with Wilson so long is because Al's ego was too big to admit he was a bust
I used to hate Marc Wilson but have way more respect now that im watching old seasons in order. Dude had his shoulder and thumb tore up every year. To the Raiders credit they DID start Rusty Hilger but weren't patient with him and eventually let all three 1987 qbs go and brought in Jay Schroeder. 1987 was an odd year. This game in itself was the perfect metaphor for the whole season. A team that lost 6 straight at the kingdome and 7 game season losing streak against a Team that controlled it's own destiny to get home field. Al Davis handed Mike Shanahan a Pro Bowl roster the next season so when you consider the strike and the team he assembled in 88 it's hard to blame Al Davis
\_!"
Marc Wilson had 300 yards passing at halftime with only lofton.... and Carr talking about he didn’t have no weapons 🤣
Beuerlein could’ve been great with us in the long term I believe.
I miss the Seahawks not being in the AFC ,those division games against the Raiders and Broncos were great ...
I agree with you
Every time I see one of these videos it makes me wonder what I was doing right at that moment and I'm pretty sure I was watching it with my stepdad who raised me to be a Raider fan. It was either that or I was playing Nintendo or with my GI Joes. I was 7yrs old in 1987.
Just go to 42:20, that's all that's needed on this night... As a Seahawks fan I'll never forget that run, this immortalized Bo in Tecmo Super Bowl ... lol
3 Heisman trophy winners
Marcus Allen, Tim Brown, and Bo Jackson
Tim Brown came the following year... in 1988.
And they still couldn't win. A very odd situation.
They almost had Dickerson
Most ABC stations carried the game in full, some stations cut off the games at 11:00pm for news, some stations ran at a delayed time.
42:20 Bo knows TDs ;) !
thx. that's what I'm here for
@@stewwatkins687 me to
someone needs to tell Seattle to use these uniforms again
kyle damron I agree, for at least 2 home games a season. I love the silver helmets, and true blue and green.
I AGREE THERE!!
yup
kyle damron b
I agree
great memories from high school...hard hitting old school ball!
Marcus Allen is tha modern day running back! Love savage godlike yea ya ya ha ha :D great post thank you :D
1:26:32, Bo in a nutshell, pointing back at Marcus Allen, who laid down a great lead block to get the easy 1-on-1 with Bosworth in the 5 hole...with a full head of steam, Bos did alright, but the play was over when Allen picked up his block. Selfless player, God-gifted like no other. This was a great night for the Raiders.
Bo Jackson & Marcus Allen in the same backfield
Madden Ultimate Team: 👀
McElroy and Toran one of the best saftey duals all time...
Just painful. And I'm not even talking about Bo. It was PAINFUL growing up watching the walking sieves that were Patrick Hunter, Dwayne Harper, and Terry Taylor at CB for the Hawks. I swear to God, if we had a guy like we do today like Richard Sherman, a lot of those bombs to Lofton in the first quarter and others like them wouldn't have happened with this Seattle team. This was a very strong era for the Seahawks, but they were always missing something. (and it was probably quality cornerback play!)
Mike Barbre I feel your pain. Trust me.
we lost Dave Brown who was our interception leader
Mike Barbre they definitely had strong safety play. Easley was awesome, sad about his illness ending his career
Funny how three biggest backs at that time,Jackson, walker, and Campbell, all in their prime can't go wrong and all wore 34.........
I was in the 5th grade watching this game Raider Nation
Man I remember watching this at my brother and my potnas all gathering around the tv see bo Jackson Run over Bozworth
Fun fact on that 91 yard run: They ran that play twice in a row.
The first time with Marcus Allen with Bo lead blocking to the left side. Then the next time, same double TE formation with Bo.
Never got to see Bo block though. If Marcus was a speed burner he'd probably tried taking that to the outside behind Bo.
People always talk about Bo running over Boz, but I always liked seeing Bo absolutely destroy him while running up the sideline. I mean, what the hell was Boz even thinking trying to catch Bo from behind. Dude had no shot. But I guess it's the effort that counts lol
runawayuniverse a for effort lol
People always talk about Bo running over Boz and it’s very overhyped. The previous week, Bo completely ran over Mike Harden for his first career TD. That was the run that the Bo-Boz one is made out to be.
Bo trucked Harden!
Wish u kept the commercials. They looked hilarious lol
I'll always be upset that Bo Jackson suffered a football ending injury at 28. Damn.
I agree. One of the truly tragic "what ifs?" in professional sports.
The Raiders would have been Un-stopable,...IF, Bo hadn't been Hurt!
billy38010 UNSTOPPABLE. Is. An. UNDERSTATEMENT.
The Bo Jackson game!! He stuck it to the Boz!!
from 63-85 the raiders rarely had a losing season to me that is longevity closest I've seen since are today's patriots (who never had a coaching change during their dynasty period) and 80s/90s SF 49ers.
What's up kid 2 an I didn't hafta look it up 64 5-7-2 n 81 7-9 last season before stript /robbed away from OAKLAND!!!!!!....OAKLAND!!!!!!RAIDERS!!!!!FAEVA!!!!...be cool!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐘🐼🐕🐬🐳🐻🐅🐖🐄
I like these old games
Seahawks TE Mike Tice, Raiders current O Line coach. Imagine how many yards Bo could have ran behind the Raiders current O line.
And don't you just love hearing the crowd become unglued over that deep punt, knowing how short-lived that celebration would be on 3rd and 6?
The Hawks weren't a bad team on TecmoBowl but the Raiders were almost unbeatable with Bo
I Very much recalled that Game that Very Night. As it showed BO Jackson was an Unbelievable Beast as a Running Back. IT was a Shame when He Later got the Hip injury that eventually Ended His Career. Otherwise He'd of Set Record's that No One else Could of Ever Beaten.
BO was just so unbelievably Great, as an Athlete. That it was Like he was a God compared to the Other's that He Played against. Even though it was in Two Different Major Sport's, that He was playing in. My God was He Fantastic 🤩😊🤩😊.
The fan whom got all excited when boz sacked q b lmao!!!!
*who
Touchdown pass to turner seattle 7. Oakland 0
Go HAWKS
Great game
A classic Monday night
How refreshing to see after a 1st down nobody gets up hot dogging...man the good ol days..
The league has changed so much because there's more money to make off of entertainment than machismo. The league supports showmanship now because that is what people pay to see.
Bo is the greatest athlete God ever put on this Earth hands down! the man would have been a Hall of Fame baseball player and a Hall of Fame football player unbelievable talent to watch mankind and God threw away the mold when Bo Jackson was born
He wasn't going to be in the hall of fame. Definitely a great athlete, but he wasn't on a good enough team.
@@PerpetualArt a players team has nothing to do with it...Ted Williams..Ernie Banks.....are just 2 HOF who played on subpar teams
Him and LeBron James are one of a kind
How great is Marcus Allen diet playing fun back at 185 lbs springing free Bo Jackson for this crazy day that was Historic
Where's part 2?
Nearly 2 years of not playing football since college before arriving mid season, not in football shape, banged up o-line, QB problems and he breaks the Monday night football and Raider rushing records at the time. There is nothing like him. Btw, can you throw you out from the warning track and hit 400+ft HRs.
Stacy Toran was destined to be next Jack Tatum before untimely death. Very good talent taken away far too soon.
Great player who had a great career ahead of him, Don't drink and drive.
Boz got jacked up!!
42 min. In best run in NFL history...bo knos ......more than U...HIM AND MARCUS COULD HAVE BEEN BEST BACKFIELD EVER..... INJURIES DAMN BO POOR GUY BEST 2 SPORT ATHLETE EVA...OUTRAN OWN PLAYERS ON A SWEEP SHOULD NVR HAPPEN
SWEEP
bo jackson great
kindman718 If never injured. Just imagine. Record breaking anonymous!
Bo ended "The Boz" career before it started that night!
Amazing after Bo's run the defense gets fired up.
Correction, he *thought* he had the angle.
Anybody else want to walk over to the vcr and adjust the tracking nob?
Leo DeLoatch I’m guessing most people have no idea what you mean, lol.
But..yep, that was my first thought.
I’ll tell you this though. The beginning, when Al Michaels is talking is probably what gave birth to the “lizard people” conspiracy.
Is there anyway possible you have the Oct 15, 2001 game on Monday NIght Football of the Cowboys Vs Redskins?
Allen, Jackson and... Lofton? Didn’t realize Lofton was a Raider. Always think of him as the Bills WR in Super Tecmo
Man Marcus hit the hole faster than most at that time
One of the signature plays in NFL primetime history 42:20
Predator Kingdom I can safely assume your talking about Bo's 91 yd jaunt!!!!
The 87 Raiders should have one the Superbowl that Year
I can't believe that chopblock on Howie Long and announcers didn't mention it
When Monday Nite Football 🏈 was something special I liked it better on ABC, just seemed different..Our parents were So lucky to have Great Announcers. 1ST they had Frank Howard & Dandy Don , then Frank & Al Michaels (I love listening to Al.) Even Dierdorf was good..Compared to Junk we got 2DAY, “Turn out the lights the Party’s over.”
Bo knows touchdowns!
Bo knows baseball. Bo knows basketball too.
@@ScorpioBornIn69 For sure!
If BOZ was running Full speed like BO was, BOZ would’ve shut BO down, but BO was too strong going that fast to stop...
LMAO! No you didn't say that!? Typo? Damn auto correct?? Buhahaha
You see the acceleration from Bo? That's power. No way could Boz stop him even with all the steroids he took. That man wearing 34 was literally a superman
42:25 is amazing
Have to cherish anytime Bo can make a catch, let alone in the endzone. For all his speed and power, the man had brick hands.
I'm pretty sure you're making that up, baseball players have to have good eye / hand coordination. They already had Marcus Allen who was an exceptional receiver so there wasn't much need to use Bo in the receiving game. He probably wasn't much of a pattern runner either, but I have no recollection of him dropping passes.
@@ckobo84 Might be quasi-Mandela memory. I do remember passes dropped. There might have been passes caught in a game I was watching. Just not in memory.
Al , Frank & Dan sure knew how to set the table and allow the game to play out. How many penalties you don't see called ? Unlike today.
Total domination by the Raiders.
Hat Trick in Baseball then pull a Hat trick in Football.. The Greast Athlete of all times..
Is this the run to Oklahoma?
And a hawk in the dome
need the second half
You don’t see “turf toe” much anymore
I miss the old I and split I offenses. I don't think the modern 3-4 super speedy nfl defenses could defend the run if a team built around the hb and fb power run game.
Bo Jackson greatest player in the world
Ah yes the Mark Wilson years, can’t believe Davis stayed with him so long considering how fast he traded Stabler and not let him finish his career with the Raiders. I remember this game was built up as Bo meets the Boz and Boz turned out to be a bust.
Al Michaels is the original lizard person! (3:23)
