MARBLE TIE DYE TECHNIQUE FOR BEGINNERS

- I used the left over dye in my tie dye kit (after doing some tie dye) to do some really fun marbling. I mixed the dyes up with some Barbasol shaving cream (with aloe). I spread the shaving cream out on the drop cloth and mixed in the colored shaving cream. Then I got to marble it and make the pattern. I love the way my shirt came out. It was a tired old shirt and now I can wear it for a lot longer. Check out my Marble Dyeing Playlist here: • MARBLE DYEING

You all probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..?

We use a large rubbermaid container lid upside down with a rack in it for our splash surface. Works like a charm, especially with the kids.

Fabulous shirt!

It’s sooo beautiful
Thank you so much!
Super job!
Thank you very much!
Thanks that’s cool never saw that before
Thanks so much!
I love the result! Do you have a video for polyester? Wanted to do this technique or ice dye for a hoodie
Polyester usually doesn't take procion dye very well. If it's a cotton/poly blend it can be more pastel.
Awesome creativity Katherine🌻 My materials are ready...I'm about to try this technique...will send photos! Keep it up, thx 🤗
Wonderful! thanks so much!
Thank you for your tutorial. Did you set the dye other than washing in synthrapol and the washing machine? Also, did you mix powder dyes and put into bottles? I've never bought a tie dye kit before, I usually use powders.
I let the dye sit on the shirt overnight to get into the fabric. Then I rinsed with cold and then washed on hot and dried on hot. You can mix your own powder dyes just like you would for tie dye. The kit I have on my site is just add water.
anything you wear looks good on you
Thanks
It is awesome!👏🏽
Thanks so much!
This was so much fun to watch, dear Catherine! I love the marble technique I was using it on drawings!
Thanks so much. Yes- I've done it on paper before- but I wanted to try on fabric
Wow I love it
Thanks so much!
Hey!! Could you also make a video on petal prints on fabric please?
That's a great idea! and perfect for spring!
great method
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I love it. Mix this with a Batik Method. There is a Glue Version for Batik. Enjoyed your video.
Thanks so much! yes I want to do colorful batik too. Good Idea
Love it
Thanks so much!
So nice process
Thanks so much! What kind of dyeing do you like the most?
You're right about not over-blending. I'd like to attempt a 'space dye' effect.
yes- I like to leave negative space in all my work really. It's a nice touch. Let me know how it goes!!
It is really pretty. ❤
Thanks!
Very cool!
Thanks so much! What’s your favorite kind of dyeing?
Turned out gorgeous, I would definitely wear this shirt! Great instructions as well!
Thanks so much!
Wow very cool!!
Thank you! Cheers!
so cool. when you hand wash with synthropol do you use hot or cold water?
Rinse with cold and wash with hot
Awesome 👍...
Thank you! Cheers!
it’s Beautiful, thanks so much. Can this be done on silk fabric with Acid dye or Acrylic paint? Bless you
Hi Thanks for watching. I'm not sure how this would work on silk. It's fiber reactive dyes, so the soda ash would be hard on the silk and it might have different looking results. Give it a shot! and let me know how it goes. Thanks
Okay thanks so much. God Bless you
Love it! I'm curious. Do you know of a different foam that can be used instead of shaving cream? A natural (or semi-natural) alternative? :)
thanks for watching! I'm not sure, I've only tried foam shaving cream. Let me know if you try anything else. Would love to know. What's your favorite kind of dyeing?
It’s good idea thank you so much
Most welcome 😊
So Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Mahalo or Thank You from Hawaii for this tutorial video 🤙🤙🤙
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful, but expensive. Can we re use the mixture as, put another tee-shirt on it. Thanks à lot.
Yes it's not cheap. I've never tried reusing it for mass production.
Gorgeous! From Russia with love ❤✨📡
Thanks so much!
Great tutorial! I attempted this today and had the shaving cream stick to my fabric, trying to figure out if I didn't add enough water to the shaving cream or maybe I had to deep of shaving cream? Any input would be appreciated. And your shirt is beautiful!
thanks! That's happened to me before. I don't think it really affects the results too much. It won't stick as much if you let it sit for longer. Hope that helps
Omg!! This is the best tutorial I have found on this kind of dyeing!! Question can I use Rit liquid or powder dye??
I really really like this what a cool technique glad I watched
Thanks so much!
Ooo, pretty.
Thanks so much!
Very pretty with those colors!! Can I know the name of them?
Hi, I have updated the colors in the supply list. Thanks!
This turned out beautiful! I'm going to try this but I have a question. Did you soak the shirt in soda ash before dyeing? I know it makes a difference in tie dye but I've never tried the shaving cream method before and don't know if the shirt needs the soda ash.
Yes I did. thanks!
Very cool technique! I'll try to put cardboard inside the shirt to help laying flat 🤔
Thanks! Good idea!
Hi,a good coloring recommendation in your opinion?
I think you could do any color combination. It would be cool do colors that appear in natural marble too.
very nice, thanks for the idea. Great day to you.
Thanks so much, what's your favorite type of dyeing?
@@OnyxArtStudios Ac..tu...a...ly, you are replying to a novice in this art but! I did a marble dress with a similar fabric used in the video, the RiT all-purpose die in apple green, cloud design, and it truly came out spectacular. The process was dyeing with a clean and moist fabric in a plastic cat tray I found, crunching it up into big clouds, adding about 1/4 of dye into a 16oz plastic bottle adding water (less if a lighter shade is wanted) then squirting the dye on both sides of the fabric (the best way possible) cover with plastic, wait an hour of setting, rinse, and dry. What your time and efforts did, for me, was to summon the creativity within and get it done as I was somewhat fearful of it. I do appreciate all you do. Spectacular day to you and your loved ones. :D
This is cool. Can this be done on Polyester?
I've never tried this method with poly. Polyester blends (at least 60 cotton and 40 polyester) usually will give very light results.
This is so awesome!! I absolutely love this andot looks really good! I do have one or two questions, I don't have ash soda where i live, do you think that using white vinegar with salt will do the same trick? I read at another post that it worked and I've never done tie dye before.
I'm not sure. Maybe try to find a tie dye that doesn't need a fixative? Maybe Tulip?
I love this Diy, but wath kind of ash dobyou need?
Soda ash is the fixative. It is linked in the description
Nice
Thanks
