ആശാനേ രാമനാട്ടം പരിഷ്കരിച്ചല്ല കഥകളി ആയതു. രാമനാട്ടം സാമൂതിരിയുടെ രാജ്യത്ത് സാമൂതിരി ഇഷ്ടപെടുന്നവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ അരങ്ങേറിയ ഒരു നല്ല കലയായിരുന്നു. രാമനാട്ടത്തിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തി അറിഞ്ഞ കൊട്ടാരക്കര തമ്പുരാൻ അതു കാണാൻ ആഗ്രഹം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയും എന്നാൽ കൊട്ടാരക്കര എന്ന ചെറിയൊരു നാട്ടിലെ രാജാവിന് അതിനു യോഗ്യതയില്ലെന്ന്‌ പറഞ്ഞു അധിക്ഷേപിക്കുകയും ഇതിൽ മനം നൊന്ത തമ്പുരാൻ ഗണപതി ഭഗവാന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ രാമനാട്ടത്തിനെതിരെ അതിലും കേമമായ കല ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ ശക്തി തന്നു തനിക്കു നേരിട്ട അപമാനത്തിന് പോംവഴി തരണമെന്ന് ഉള്ളുരുകി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചതിന്റെ ഫലമായി കൊട്ടാരക്കര തമ്പുരാൻ രചിച്ച കലാരൂപമാണ് കഥകളി. കഥകളിയിലെ വേഷ ഭൂഷാദികൾ അമ്പലത്തിന്റെ മുന്നിലെ ചിറയിലെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഭഗവാൻ പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിച്ചു കാണിച്ചുവെന്നാണ് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്. മറ്റൊന്നിലും കാണാൻ പറ്റാത്ത വേഷവിധാനങ്ങൾ കേവലംമൊരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ചിന്തയിൽ മാത്രം ഉണ്ടായ ഒന്നല്ല മറിച്ചു അതിന്റെ ചാരുതക്കു ഈശ്വരന്റെ അദൃശ്യ സ്പർശം കൂടി ഉണ്ടെന്നറിയുക.
അഹങ്കാരത്തിന്റെ കോട്ടകൊത്തലങ്ങളിൽ അരങ്ങേറിയിരുന്ന രാമനാട്ടം ഇന്ന് കാണാനില്ല എന്നാൽ ഭഗവാനാൽ ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്താൻ ഇടയായ കഥകളി ഇന്ന് ലോക പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. അറിയില്ലേ മേല്പത്തുരിന്റെ കൃതിയെക്കാൾ ജന മനസ്സിൽ സ്ഥാനമുള്ളത് പൂന്താനത്തിന്റെ കൃതികൾക്കാണ്. രണ്ടും ഭഗവൽ സ്തുതികൾ. ആശാൻ ശിഷ്യർക്കു ശരിയായ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്താലും 🙏
