I love hearing the thing on them discovering lighter gear for fishing. As a trout fisherman, I gotta say, this is what we usually live for. Also, to make it more interesting, I know a guy who landed a 4 foot white sturgeon on an 8'6 medium action Ugly Stik. He didn't know there were any sturgeon there, but he did know there were big carp and hoped to land one of them

I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
The $20 Shakespeare rod/real combo is honestly a super great value for the price. I’ve been using one for years

@@dremmer-ue9qv they were the original tough rod and yea you can’t feel nibbles on baits like you will with a st.croix or something that’s 500-1000 dollar rod but hell 99% of fisherman work a job and don’t make $1000 a week and can’t justify buying an expensive rod and then a reel to go on it when most of us don’t even have a boat. Budget fishing is just as much fun as high dollar fishing when you have a boat or from the bank.

These budget fishing videos remind me of when my dad caught his pb on a $60 ultra light okuma with 4lb mono. It wasn't a giant at 6lbs but he caught a ton of 4+ lb bass on that ultralight combo.
A lot fisherman honestly always overfish. Definitely for most fishing situations
@@armandomorales3809 agreed. I fished commercially and ran sportfishing charters out of Islamorada in the Florida keys. Sometimes we'd catch a sailfish on 12lb spinning gear and sometimes we'd catch 5lb snapper on 50lb test. Just depends what your goal is for that fishing trip.

I can’t believe that Walmart didn’t have the Abu Garcia Blackmax Baitcaster. That definitely would’ve been the best cheap combo.

@@julianq9415 I have no clue. I just know it’s not terrible cuz it was one of the first combos I had and it did the job.
Idk if quality went down since your comment, but I started on an Abu Garcia Ike Dude rod I got for $50 at Walmart. I casted it only 4 times before the reel broke apart beyond repair. (Lost a screw, line roller and bail arm, all into the water) Had to buy a new reel so I went ahead and bought a Pflueger Monarch pole and reel combo at Runnings for about $70. It is so much better quality than my previous pole and I'm kicking myself for not putting in the extra $20. I decided to just ditch my Abu Garcia rod cause it left a bad taste in my mouth about the brand. I'm still new to fishing so I didn't want to invest hundreds into a nice rod until I knew the basics and was ready for better quality, but damn I didn't expect the Abu Garcia one to kick the bucket that quick.

I actually bought that Cirrus combo from the Mart of Walls some months ago, on the very first outing to Lake Lanier I hooked a big hybrid and the rod literally snapped in half before the line broke. xD
Any good spots around Atlanta for a beginner? I'm trying to get into fishing and yes I got rods for mart of walls for now. I plan on hitting up either disks or bass pro soon as I learn how to find the fish lmfaoo
