- After an incident closed the La Salle Causeway on March 30th, 2024, a supporting platform was introduced to hold up the counter-weight for the bridge. Today, June 16th, after a damaged beam had been fully reinforced, Mammoet were able to recover their platform based on four Self-Propelled Mobile Transporters (SPMT). This video showcases the smooth operation involved.

Did you notice that the mobile transporters had enormous go-pro mounts on their ends?!
LOL - I did indeed - GoPro make an industrial camera sized to fit and take the enormous pressures involved !
Are there any archival pictures of the bridge being constructed… It would be interesting to see the equipment used to compare it to the sophisticated equipment available today.
That’s a really good question. I have never seen any. It would indeed be very interesting to make comparisons with modern iron work
Da geht echt ein Stück Geschichte verloren - Technikgeschichte !
Immerhin festgehalten in sehr guten Videos - vielen Dank.
I'm new to this channel. What is the reason for removing the bridge? Is it being replaced, or is traffic being permanently stopped?
Welcome to the channel - thanks for dropping by. The bridge is being removed because of safety concerns about its integrity after an incident occurred during maintenance work. Traffic will flow again, but not until a replacement bridge can be introduced.
What is the battery flight time capacity on your drone? It covered a lot of footage!
It's a shame that the bridge is going away. 😢
I'm also surprised that they didn't hire Mammoet to simply remove the bridge on a barge. It would be the fastest and least invasive way of demolishing it in my opinion.
That would be one big barge
@@_Hari_Seldon Wouldn't be the first time, either; Mammoet has done similar previously, hence my suggestion. Without the counterweight, it should be easy.
Thanks for your interest. Any one battery lasts up to about 35 minutes. I have several and select the times to fly back and change them. Since I must always have the drone in sight, it's never very far away.
