- One of the common problems with this SUV is the failure of the pcv. It causes rough idle, surging and stalling. Such a small and inexpensive part can drive you crazy but when fixed, can make your vehicle run like a dream. Remember to always use extreme caution when doing work on any type of vehicle!

Yes, thanks for sharing this information. I had been having the same problems with my Expedition. One scan at my local Autozone pointed to the problem(Error code = 174). These steps along with changing out the the PCV hose, cleaning the Idle Air Control Valve and replacing my fuel filter (total = less that $100 total) and my 2002 Expedition feels like it can go another 200K. Thanks for this video! This is just what I was looking for. I'm having the same issue with my 1999 Ford Expedition and it is driving me freaking crazy! I'm going to get the hose or hoses today and replace my pcv valve also.

Was the truck shaking wen you drive hissing then turn off because it's what mine is doing
I have the 5.4L and I "think" the PCV is on the driver's side but on the passenger side there is a hole in the valve cover as if something is supposed to go there. I can't find a schematic to save my life but I can't tell where that would lead to. The back of the engine, where you pointed, leads to the driver side.
Yeah thats weird. My pcv was on the passenger side and the air intake is in the center rear of the engine. If your burning oil or stalling you may want to have it checked out.

Hey buddy. Just wondering if you had to remove anything major for this fix? I think this is the issue for my 98 Ford Expedition but it looks like I can’t even get to the back end of the pvc line. Any help would be great.
Fortunately for my vehicle I didn't have to remove anything major. I got lucky. Before removing anything make sure you know where the leak is coming from, if there is a leak. There are so many videos about removing anything you have to. Good luck.

Not sure. It's just hose I got from advanced auto parts.
My is a 2002 one and it doing the same thing I have the whole kit from ford for ony $40.00 plus tax
Vacuum leak aka air leak
I have a 2002 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson and have the same problem but mine in the back behind the motor and I have no clue how to get back there I’m so aggravated lol
I suggest being absolutely sure the problem is in the back before going through all that trouble. Lets hope its not the hose behind the motor.
The whose looks like it in bad condition and ya it goes from the pcv to the back of the motor lol I don’t change all my other vacuum hose this the only one I can think of and it sounds like air is coming from back there.
You do realize Seafoam is for 2 cycle😅

I don't remember exactly, it's been a while. But I got it at advanced auto parts.
the plastic tube appears to be 5/16 if rubber fuel line hose is slightly loose put a gear clamp on it...make sure the sharp parts of the clamp dont touch any other hoses... electrical wiring sheathing makes a good protection cover for hoses that might rub against other items or hoses...hoses rubbing together are a big problem on the expedition... be careful where the hoses go..
