    • @oldbones9205
      @oldbones9205 Před 2 lety +2

      I own both; the MH25s makes the Warrior X look sad in comparison; to be specific, I own the 2100 lumen 500 meters throw neutral white or puke green version as I call it.
      The Olight feels better built,m and to be 100% honest, it feels a little better in hand as well; however, performance-wise, the MH25s blows the Warrior away, and not by a small margin; in fact, the MH25s throws longer, cleaner and has a much better hot spot; I'm honestly upset I wasted money on the Olight at this point.
      I also own an M2R Warrior Pro and a Nitecore P20i: again, the P20i makes the Warrior Pro look sad; however, and again, the Warrior Pro feels light a better-built; that said, I'm into performance, and the Nitecore simply does it better in that category.
      I know the MH12s would be a better comparison with the M2R Warrior Pro, but I don't have that light; at least, not yet.
      The Warrior X Pro was the last Olight I'll ever purchase; the new M2R Warrior 3 has gone back to a cooler white LED; I briefly considered it; however, at this point, Olight has lost me as a customer.

    MJ, I'm working on my Ph.D. in Nitecore lights under your excellent tutelage, but not quite there yet.
    Do I understand correctly that the user interfaces of the MH12S and MH25S are identical and that the only differences are the reflector size and thus the beam throw?
    So switching between them is intuitive if I have both, correct - learn one, I've learned both?
    I also gather that any of the 21700 and 21500 series batteries will work in either flashlight, but which one specifically offers the best performance - brightness and length of charge?
    Thanks for really great presentations!

    (note: all instances of looking directly at the LED and reflected LED are in this comment are performed with the flashlight turned OFF)
    Something you did not cover is the symmetry and focal point of the reflector. I've seen a number of reflector LED lights that had a non-symmetrical reflector. This is where when you look at the LED in the reflector you can see areas where the LED is not reflected uniformly. You see distorted images of the LED and there can be large areas where the LED isn't even visible in the reflector and you see a mix of the yellow of the LED and the silver of the reflector. This is common in cheaper plastic reflectors where the aluminum coated plastic reflector is warped.
    The other problem is you may have a symmetrical reflector, but the LED isn't in the right position along the central axis of the reflector and again does not use 100% of the reflector surface. With a focal point positioning issue you see either a yellow disc of the reflected LED that is smaller than the full reflector, or you may see what looks like a ring of yellow, with a silver inner disc. In both cases, the LED is positioned such that it is not reflected by the entire surface of the reflector and you can lose a substantial portion of the light output you should be getting from a reflector-based flashlight. You can also see this effect with a variable focus reflector type of LED flashlight as you vary the "focus" of the light.
    Then there is the flashlight where the LED is not mounted perfectly in the center at the "bottom" of the reflector. This type of offset is usually fairly obvious, and again can negatively affect performance.
    A good design should show a uniform reflection of the LED and use the entire reflector surface.
    I have noticed that a number of LED flashlights have stopped showing photographs that view the LED "head on" because in un-manipulated photos these defects are usually visible. The shown photos only show the flashlight from an angle so any of these kinds of defects can't be seen. I've also noticed photos of some flashlights that manipulate the "head on" photos by painting in a yellow disc or square instead of showing the actual photo of the LED chip and reflector.
