In the first test in Edgebaston Indian openers looked very much comfortable against Anderson, Broad and Stokes. It was Sam Curran who's spell suddenly created havoc in india's batting line up. He brought a variety to the attack which helped the other bowlers also. In the recent history in England and Australia the offies Moeen and Lyon were very effective. In India's last tour to England, Moeen had 19 wickets. He is a better batsman. So dropping anyone of Curran and Moeen in place of Rashid who averages above 35, cost England the match in Trentbridge.
