Coronation street got this absolutely spot on. Heroin destroyed many families across our country.
The acting, the dialogue and the history of both characters is superb.
And it’s great to see Claire Sweeney back in soapland. 🔥🔥🔥

She is in one of my favorite films called Educating Rita. It's brilliant and she is awesome in it.
As said, Maureen Lipman. Actress on film, stage, T.V. series and adverts. Her late husband used to write for Coronation Street. She had an earlier role in it as landlady of the Rovers.

I agree with Evelyn on this. She tried and tried to help but the daughter kept going back to drugs anyway. The girl needs to learn that there are consequences for your actions.
I agree with you Evelyn tried help Cassie get clean countless time"s each breaking her heart when Cassie relapse so she find out Cassie was pregnant she knew that Cassie would inevitably relapse again so she took Tyrone from Cassie to protect him from a life constant heartache
The producers at Corrie must have rubbed there hands when they signed Maureen Lipman, she is an amazing actress from the comedy to serious acting.
Add Claire Sweeney and this is the best acting I have seen in a soap in a long time , great work by the both of them 👍👍
They're gonna be Corrie's answer to Dot Cotton and Nick.

Lot of (rightful) praise for Maureen Lipman here but Claire Sweeney is also excellent in this scene.

@@marilynalexander5446 My brother is not as extreme as this, but he's stolen from my parents, hurt us with his words and has just been so hard .... we grew up in the same house, I know what he is blocking out, but we have the same childhood, I don't do that , get wasted! It's so sad. So sad.

God if this were a US Soap they both would have gotten Editor's Choice Or Stars Of The Week. I read about her on Wiki, and she and Emma Barton (Honey) both did Chicago. I'm sure that Brookside Fans are stunned to see her play an Addict. If this were the US maybe they could have put her in a Bootcamp that Stacey Dooley visited in Upstate New York who was stunned.
I think Maureen Lipman's "Evelyn" is truly one of the best characters to have walked the cobbles. Her comic timing, sarcastic wit and amazing oneliners are truly a joy to behold. But I would happily prefer that she sticks to acting rather than make political statements where she appears to disregard human life in Gaza. As a Muslim, I feel really offended, that someone I admire, would spout bile that completely overlooks the plight of Palestine. She is alienating herself from Muslim diehard viewers of Corrie if she is choosing to use her status as a platform to oppose the oppressed. Very dissappointed that no one at ITV has questioned this.

Maureen Lipman is a superb actress and makes Corrie worth watching but I do hear she's leaving the soap soon and wish her the very best in the future
She only left temporarily. She went on a break and did a west end show. She’s been back filming for the last two/three weeks according to people who work on the show, fans that wait at the entrance and set photos that have been posted online. She’s due to leave onscreen any day now and will be back onscreen in about six/eight weeks.
She leaves and then comes back.

I take pregabalin twice a day..... And I have known a few people that unfortunately abused pregabalin.... It's nothing like heroin.... In no way shape or form... It's a painkiller for mild pain and an anti anxiety medication among a few other things.... It isn't possible to get high from pregabalin..... I know people that have tried.... And it is impossible for pregabalin to interact with opioid receptors.... Opium receptors are what heroin binds to.... pregabalins main thing is Gaba.... That can either bind to a Gaba A or Gaba B receptor...... Non of witch would give a person a high like any kind of opium...... It's impossible..... It might make you gay..... But you definitely won't feel high.....
Well, that's not true. Every heroin addict I've known - and that's quite a few - has abused pregabs and diazepam. In fact, I've known some who've self-treated their addiction by switching to pregabs instead of methadone.

And I know that some heroin users self medicate to come off.... So you are correct.... My point is just buds on there own don't do much at all... But I'm not a heroin user.... She should give up on her daughter once a drugy always a drugy
The daughter has used for drugs for over 30 years, you do nor owe your kids your entire life. Only the daughter can do the work to get and stay clean.

Why cant these directors simply use new talent and make things more real...instead they bring in their "old pals" to help them out whilst they are struggling to get work...they we have to go through the whole boring experience. Switched off as soon as she came on....BORING !!!
