- Also watch Asimo dance at minute 9:00!!!
Asimo packed the Honda area for every single demo at the USA Science and Engineering Festival 2018.
This is the new and improved robot and it certainly showed!
It danced, climbed the stairs and even ran across the stage.
The Honda Robotics team did an amazing job building it but also presenting it to the spectators.
Cannot get enough of the show and are happy to share this clip with you! Enjoy Asimo at his best!

When I first saw an ASIMO, I thought, "It looks like a small astronaut".
Me roo
But then I saw the eyes
It's so cool
Floyd Johnson ,same
I think it does too
Growing up in the 90s, I was a huge fan of Honda's robots, and I remember their robots looking more and more different and more advanced with each new incarnation over the span of half a decade, then came Asimo in 2000. I was psyched. I wondered where it'd go next. Then came Gen 2 Asimo in 2005, but since then, besides tweaks, adjustments and very subtle upgrades, you have to admit that there doesn't seem to have been any major groundbreaking developments since then. It's like Honda's reached the end of the road with Asimo.
*EDIT*
I also just learned at the last minute that Honda retired Asimo just a few months after this demonstration, and may be focusing on a whole new model. I really wonder where they'll go with it next.
Atlas Boston Dynamics
PARKOUR
Another ugly Hyundai (yep, since last year) robot having ties with the US army? I hope not.
They saw I,Robot movie and Detroit becomes Human game so they are scared to develop advanced Robots
Don't forget in 2011 ASIMO got hydraulic powered joints and sensors in his fingers.
Making it able to open a water bottle for example and handle a paper cup without squishing it.
Asimo looks like it accidentally crapped its pants and is running with a full load in its trousers lol
You may want to edit this later when the robots take over the world!!! :- ) :- )
AndysTechGarage ha ha
Asimo doesn't have rolling hips so it can't swing it's body over it's supporting legs like a human. therefore it has to have a short gait like a chimpanzee. Hence walking around looking like it just crapped itself.
Paul Le Mars nice
Paul Le Mars Then maybe they should finally give it some...
Just looking at him makes my knees ache. I want to shout “STRAIGHTEN YOUR LEGS!” At him
A mile in 11 minutes? Hell, he's better than half the kids at a high school level.
asimo looks like an astronaut
One of my favourite robot Asimo. You are great Asimo. Your functions is fantastic.
As someone who did a bit of robotics in his youth, this is incredibly impressive. My team made it so that a humanoid robot can climb a rope, but even that was ridiculously challenging.
We still have troubles with line following bots! 🤣😂
Amazing progress during the 7 years since I last saw Asimo's prior incarnation. Good work!!
progress for Humanity I think not.
What progress? It is still walking up stairs and kicking a ball, like it did decades ago. If there's any progress it's so incremental that it's negligible. After 20 years and decades more working on it, there's still no commercial version for sale. Couldn't be used for the Fukushima power plant, useless during covid, when is Asimo ever gonna be used for anything aside from tech demos like a dancing monkey? At least a lot has been learned from Asimo, but he will be a stepping stone displayed at a museum like the many failed plane designs that came before the Wright Brothers. Plus Honda abandoned this project so it didn't seem like they saw much progress either.
I met Asimo many years ago when I was a kid at one of these events. At the time, he was considered one of the most advanced robots. During the demonstration, he had a conversation and (amongst other things) managed to serve drinks. It was very impressive. I thought he was the most lovely little robot and wanted to be his friend. Asimo is so cute and endearing, i’m so happy they’ve still kept him going and are continually making improvements. We love you Asimo ❤️🤖
We think Asimo is still one of the most advanced robots out there but Honda has cancelled the program and they are not developing it further. Sad
I love Asimo program. It's one of a kind. I believe it will come back sometimes in the future to contribute for its good use.
Great camera work. We nearly saw everything.
ASIMO is a made in Japan robot, which I'm proud of it as a Japanese!
Chin chow
@Tidder T google used to own it but they sold it to a japanese company in 2017
What's?🤔 any explanation
An absolutely astounding piece of machinery. Just the computational advances alone required to allow it to operate so quickly and precisely are amazing. One has to wonder how many ergometers this thing uses to determine its' orientation. Visual analysis, hearing, interpretation of language.... etc.. I wonder as to its' battery life between charges. Can it plug itself into a power source when in need of recharge? One thing I don't find really impressive is the over expression with the arms as this takes up tremendous amounts of computational power and further shortens battery life. Sign language is fine and dandy but I'd prefer to see that processing be put to better use in the way of task performance. All in all, excellent engineering.
Truly enjoying your videos, very well done
Thank you! You are too kind!
That's one hell of a robotic dance...😂😂😂😂😂
LOL!!! Thank you
"And now, Asimo will show show how it can efficiently exterminate humans, targeting 10 at a time while simultaneously tracking 50 more."
asimo project has been stopped
MrGriff305
That’s where shit gets scary
@@gwapoo really?
Lol
Asimo: Ex-ter-min-ate all hu-mans! Ex-ter-min-ate all in-fer-ior life! Ex-ter-min-ate them all!
Asimo is so adorable! :D
Indeed!! Kids loved the show. One of the most popular spots at the Science & Engineering Festival
I love how he looks like a little astronaut, ya know? I can envision a future where Asimo provides assistance for disabled people with things like eating, retrieving and opening mail, opening and closing doors and ensuring the house is securely locked up at night or when people leave, and that's just basic stuff. Who knows how smart he'll be in 20 more years? :)
Very smooth action, just like animation
Vsaka vam čast, super ste !!! Srečno novo leto 2023 vam vsem želiva Konrad Konrad in moja ženka Zofka !!!!!
Meanwhile Boston Dynamics Atlas is doing parkour.
Yeah, but I think asimo's movements are smoother.
And yet no live demonstrations. Asimo's stance shows robotics is difficult and moving slowly. Peoples opinions show our ability not to be fooled by slick editing is growing at an ever slower pace!
🤣😂
sure but what else can it do? atlas is extremely advanced in just one area while Asimo is very advanced in many areas. also, Asimo is kinda meant to do tasks around a home, that means it needs to be more gentle and slower while also maintaining great precision, adapting to both the environment and the items it will be interacting with. it doesn't exactly need to leap over a log and just keep barreling through obstacles.
Asimo is a civilian service robot. Atlas will almost certainly be military service, even though “the us military has expressed no interest” LOL
I was told to take notes on this video here is what I have
•runs like me
•walks like an old person
•is not really like a human
•sounds like an anime boy in English dub
Hope that’ll do the job
This comment is severely underrated
his walking and running is so cute
💯💯💯
The coolest robot on the planet.
Wow the Japanese are so smart, what amazing robot they created, it feels so real
I think the Asimo project established a humaniod robot legend of Japanese robots since 1986. The 2018 asimo looks very mature since robot P1, P2 and P3, even the 2000 Asimo. It shows the optimized movment and respond time. I think it is very impressive. Boston dynamics robots are foundamentally a set of different robots, which shows a lot of break through. However they are newer generation, Boston Dynamics robots should not be mixed up with Honda Asimo. Asimo already reach its goal. We should appriciate the hard work of pioneers put in to this project which ends up with such a friendly human like robot.
The "New" Asimo can now dab!
Everybody claps in cringe.
This is a 2013 model, the last model.
Everybody : SO VERY IMPRESSIVE
Thank You
Imagine Asimo fusing with Boston Dynamica Atlas. Asimatlas! the most advanced bipedal robot that combines their best features, and sounds like a cool gods name too
I just may draw that
10 years after, asimo still kicks a ball, and walks the stairs...
I think you're not realising building a robot is not easy at all. Have you seen where Honda came from and where they are right now? It's insane how sophisticated Asimo is.
They secretly spent 25 years perfecting bipedal motion, before they had their first prototype..
its not there yet
this had 57 degrees of freedom. To move like a person you need more like 360. Itll be 30 years before we get there.
They should've had Asimo do the robot dance. 😂😂
Too funny!!!
There’s my boy! He’s grown up so fast!
Asimo is the most advanced robot I've seen so far.
Although ASIMO cannot stand straight yet, it is very intelligent and functional. I only hope that it won't take over the world one day.
I friggin love this thing. I know I'll never be able to afford one. But who knows, maybe there'll be contest to enter, to possible win one.
Hurray for Asimo! :D
If that robot throws a whoa I will die 😂😭😂
Me tooo
I used to be amazed by this robot when it was the very first of its kind. I’m sad to see that it hasn’t progressed significantly over the years. Take a look at Boston Dynamics’ Atlas humanoid. This thing does back flips and can run circles around Asimo.
Asimo is fully autonomous, answers questions and is designed to help aging people with dementia. It's tryna be house assistant.
@@skiran69 Wow do you really think it is? This is all choreographed.
@@skiran69 You can’t be this stupid lol.
Andytec nice robot wowow. Good to see you and your channel. New house mate here. God bless you and your family.
Thank you
at first i was like "this is the same exact garbge can i saw 10 years ago", but then i noticed it isn't as loud as an apache helicopter anymore and doesnt stand and thing for a minute before doing any action, nice progress
If I owned Asimo. I would immediately put it to work cleaning the house from top to bottom! Get my drinks!
John Peltrau that's what a wife is for
So it is not mean. The wife would break up if he does it to much but Asimo would do it all.
@@shinx6668 no
Asimo is the og ai
Honestly, ASIMO is my favorite robot and i am going to make it my goal to meet it. someday, asimo. someday
Maybe in a few year it will be mass produced and sold to the public.
Really lov it ,,, 👍
Thanks a lot 😊
i know it's a robot but it's just too adorable i wanna hug it lol
The robot in blue shirt also very fluid in its mechanics
I feel like Boston and Honda's going different ways here - yeah ASIMO hasn't changed much in years, but it's not a fair comparison. Just like how Apple produces phone-like tablets and Microsoft with computer-like tablets, Boston is going for industrial, adjusting to harsh environmental situations robots while Honda is going for humanoids that interact with people and mimic how we look.
I don't look like I need to take a shit 24/7.
Same as it was 15years ago. Where boston dynamics robots are doing park hour.😄
incredible
Can it stand up straight?
just one kick needed on its ass-hole to make it stand straight😂😂
Its hard to balance an upright robot
@@Rk.751 😂😂😂😂
CM6774 SQUAT RUN
Good one
Basically robot programs depend on its objectives: asimo, for example is for household chores, while boston dynamics are for military purposes 👍😉
no, but it would clearly be cool if Asimo could do parkour
the next ASIMO will have a mind of it's own
So cool!
Thank you
👍. I'm disabled and this ai would greatly improve my life
Good point. A lot of families could use a robot with Asimo's level of dexterity.
His movements are so smooth that it’s getting scary
True!
It's beautiful
Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.
I’m learning about this in school
Asimo needs a jetpack.
Esse robot é incrível.
go honda go..and to boston dynamics..keep up your good jobs
not forget to Kaist as well
Can he backflip tho?
Not yet! That would be Boston Dynamix
It's not necessary to asimo. Coz Honda's purpose is to put asimo as a home helper specially for handicaps and old people
Boston Dynamics
Imagine if honda team work together with boston dynamic, and google ai. =T100. Skynet confirm.
Asimo still doing the same thing 10 years later yet Atlas came about 5 years ago and is already doing fucking backflips get the fuck out honda stick to doing cars
I'm jealous. I wish I had a robot just as big.
I just love him
So do we!!
Asimo is a computer with advanced voice recognition and programmed vocal reaction. Its a computer . The REAL achievements here, folks, is in the good ol´mechanics. This is a Robot that craves immense maintenance of ALL mechanic properties . The achievement of this special form of being is ALL down to advanced low tech complex machinery . In terms of reliability regarding asimo´s functionality , it would be ALL in the hands of special highly trained mechanics to keep this piece of .... working.
Amazing! And at this blistering pace, in about 300 years it might be capable of doing something useful! But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
More like 5 years, where do you get 300 years from??
Erik Andersson This thing looks like more like a head ache then help around the home.
actually the pace of progress has been swift. 10 years ago half the size and can move more easily. Another 10 years they will be not far from appearing on our streets.
Asimo was almost exactly the same back in 2006.
Erik Andersson you are a fool, you lack a firm grip on reality.
More lifelike than Boston dynamic's bulky, noisy and abit clumsy robots. Asimo is underrated
100%
Excellent
Thank you kindly! It was so cool to watch it in person. Happy you and so many others get to enjoy it as well.
Asimo is awesome
Asimo is walking up stairs while the atlas is doing parkour
2020 : Robots dancing, humans clapping
2050 : Humans dancing, Robots clapping
omega lol
I want one!
Love from india asimo👏👏
Love from USA also!!
The problem with this comments section is we are all so used to cgi in films making the currently impossible seem so "real" that when the real walks on to the stage we are all like "meh"
Just consider what Asimo and other projects like it represent in terms of Human ingenuity and imagination. This is no fascist society "Data" based on wonder tech and Geordie's visor. This is real and it is amazing no matter that it is not as dramatic as some CGI giant zombie.
So true!!
This is a 2013 model, the last model.
Twenty years from now "I'm Fond Of My Honda". will be a slogan ringing out for HR
I can't imagine what it will be like in 10 years.
It will have minor improvements and be just as useless as it is today.
Boston dynamics is kicking Honda’s butt. Although the hand and finger movements are interesting
Many are saying this but ignore the type of robot Asimo is and the fact that it was in many ways the basis for a lot of the research and inspiration that went into all biped robots that followed on his footsteps. We love Boston Dynamics and have visited their facility.
Atlas and Spot are undoubtedly stronger, better machines but Asimo was the first in a time when building it was simply impossible for others.
They completely shut him down is so heartbreaking.
no, why you think that
I'm wondering how much is it AI to how much is it verbal command based predetermined motion.
Wow Asimo is very good in robotic dance
🕺🕺🕺
I miss that thing
I wonder - how long does Asimo's battery pack last?
ASIMO could play nurse to Coronavirus infected patients and deliver medicines to them like the antiviral Tamiflu. Or antibiotics like Floriquins like Cipro which is really strong stuff. As well as clean up Fukushima's nuclear power plant. ASIMO could also help Japan with it's depopulation problem. Think about it Honda.
Flaw with using them for radiation. You can't shield one from the gamma rays and still have it move nicely. Gamma radiation, from a blown core, will fuck the electronics on the molecular level. Exactly like Chernobyl. Robot might work, but will be irreparably damaged in short order. Not to mention its now radioactive.
Chill with your doctors suggestions. You're very likely not a doctor. Or anyone with real medical knowledge.
this is cool 😁
🙏🙏🙏
Definitely, Asimo is so Extra superior.Nice one.
The Robot Revolution is already here
True!!
Asimo dabs on the haters at 11:09
True! And dances at 9:00!!!
I was wondering what the heck he was doing.
people: Atlas is better
Asimo:
So "cheesy" they made it do that! Sums up the presentation as a whole!
Ohhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yES Thank YOu HondA!!!!!!!$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????.
I hope Asimo the robot coming to malaysia one day.
Go Honda!!!
They seem to have deliberately made some of the Asimov's movements a little dorky so people laugh at Asimov rather than feel threatened.
Isaac asimov?

My favorite robot
Let me know when he can do the dishes and laundry. Maybe even prepare some simple food. I would totally buy one
Too late! They stopped working on it shortly after this show.
He looks like me walking to get me a snack at 2 in the morning lol
Boston dynamics is like for an army, an this for citizen.
When I first saw this as a kid at Disneyland, I thought it was just someone in a costume because I couldn’t believe the technology that was onstage.
Drink game: watch this video with your friends and take a shot every time you hear "asimo"
🤣😂🤣😂
Mass produce!...send to Mars and start building stuff
You might want to reconsider sending atlas, handle, and spot instead of this turd for that kind of task
@@quantumrain4774 Atlas is very good at mobility but unfortunately not much else. ASIMO was capable of performing complex tasks besides being able to move around well.
I'd love to see a combination of ASIMO's multipurpose problem solving and decision making and Atlas's mobility and movement in one robot.
We used to think robots were a good idea, until they gained control, it was like nothing we could have ever imagined at the time
