Respectfully that intro is does not sound correct. Hammer on the high E while playing the D chord and that will get it sounding correct

That first chord doesn't sound right to me when you do that switch.
It seems like when your a beginner all the good songs you want to play are freaking picking or hard as crap to learn it’s frustrating-_-
