We brought 8 (?!) voice actors from the upcoming Trails of Cold Steel III to Anime Expo 2019 to discuss their work on the game, how they relate to their character in real life, and what kind of date they would want to go on in Erebonia! Hear this and more questions from the Trails community in this video taken live from the panel. Recorded July 4, 2019.

Randy's voice fits so well. It sounds almost exactly like how I pictured he would sound when I played the Crossbell games.
Sean Chiplock is awesome as usual. I'm not a huge Rean fan, but Sean Chiplock's performance really brings an iconic quality to the character.
Sara's va is actually irl Sara.
Even Sean pointed out how annoying Rean's obliviousness can get when a girl comes onto him.

I must admit, the PR team from NisA is going 'All-out attack' on promoting CS3 here in the west as they should. Seriously tho, the amount of attention this game is finally getting, which it has been deserving of for so long, is incredible. And the cast is as amazing as always. Especially glad to see Millium's new VA fit in so damn well. Also great to be finally hearing Randy's English VA who fits his image as well. Props!!!
They're really going overdrive with the promotion. Not that I'm complaining.
You know, 4 of them are Persona cast as the voice of Mishima, the voice of Futaba, the voice of Lavenza and the voice of Naoto.
Wasnt even aware Millium got a new VA, wonder why Ashley Burch didnt return for the role.

Fun fact: Laura's VA, Marisha Ray, is married to Matthew Mercer in real life. Which is ironic, since Laura is clearly a "not-Saber" yet her VA is married to the man who voices Kiritsugu Emiya.

I got goosebumps listening to Misty’s VA. All I could think of was “abend time” lol. Amazing cast.
I loved every second of this panel. Everyone fucking NAILED their parts! But I gotta say, out of everyone the one that shocked me the most was Randolph's VA. He sounded EXACTLY like his Japanese counterpart if not better. Jonah Scott, outstanding work man! And I got chills when he roared "BERSERKER!" Hopefully we get to see and listen to his signature S-Craft in CS4!!!
The voice acting in the Trails Of Cold Steel games are so strong! Very anime but thats the style they are going for. I love Rean, Laura, Fie, Alisa and ALL the characters! Really can't wait till October for this game guys. PLEEEEEEASE announce Cold Steel 4 localisation asap!
Tbh, given that 3 is being localised, I don't really see any reason for Falcom to deny localising the 4th game especially if it's successful. But ofc we still just have to wait and see if NIS or XSEED gets the license for that.

Not gonna spoil but lore wise they are gonna HAVE to release the 4th because if not then they just shoot their self in the foot. It's like playing cold steel one and never getting 2.

Voice acting is a dream job for me listening to this and hearing everyone who obviously loves their roles just confirms to me that this is what I wanna do Shame I’ve got no clue where to start since there are no opportunities like this where I’m from

28:38 I found that one funny as Cold Steel 3 was even slated to release on the PS Vita until Falcom decide to can it because of hardware limitations.
I love the english voice acting, I think it portrays the spirit of the characters more accurately than the original japanese dub.

I've read online that if Estelle is a shonen hero, then Rean is a light novel hero, though he's definitely on the Subaru Natsuki end rather than the Kirito end. Fittingly, Sean voices both Rean and Subaru.

Hmm well I'd like to say it's how rean was raised in yimer didn't get to interact with kids his age unti he started going to thors tho he does have his moments but by the 3 game he's more aware of the girls who like him I think in some scenes he purposely acts oblivious but that's my take on it
@@theashenone3221 I think it has more to do with the fact that one of Rean's greatest insecurities, especially in the first two games, is that he doesn't think he's worthy of being loved unconditionally e.g. thinking he needs to "pay back" his adopted parents for the trouble of raising him even though they love him as though he were their real son. After all, if he can't understand how his own family feels, how is he supposed to understand romantic feelings?
I love this series so much, I’m playing the trials of cold steel series .currently playing part 3, I love the voice acting and story... even when it’s 3am(and my 👀 feel like there 🩸 and I’m reading this million page character/NPC dialogue story😂🤣😂, and getting butt kicked 🤣 over and over on boss battles.💙💙💙 I have Accidentally skipped dialogue section and went all the way back to rewatch or reread it on save from two hours earlier. Have to remember to save often.

Oh and for those who complains about localitations, remember, I'm from Spain and like me there's a lot of people who didn't get even texts in our languages. At the end of the day, you're lucky after all.
At least with the localisation and a dub, I won't have to constantly stare at the words in dialogue boxes to understand what's going on and instead can focus my eyes on the action. On top of that, Cold Steel has one of the best English voice acting I've heard in a long while. (And I've heard bad voice acting from games like Star Ocean 4)
Exactly. People who prefer subs sometimes look down on dub saying stuffs like "learn to read", they don't understand we just want to concentrate on something more important instead of word boxes
@@theresa5747 True, some people don't bother with the dub too much, but I think it helps a lot (especially if you understand the language dub... which for the most part is either Japanese or English) and also helps to concentrate as you say, rather that splitting the atention to text boxes or subtitles, I mean, nowdays I don't really care if a game doesn't have spanish language (as said language is my native one) at all because right now I'm confident that the lessons I got for the English language at school have made wonders for me and rarely now I use a translator or equivalent to figure out something I don't understand.
From what I hear it's not a "delay" per-se.Apparently the game is ready for release in September as scheduled. They are releasing it in October so it doesn't get lost amongst other bigger titles.

@@natchu96 I'm not sure how NIS' possible bankruptcy will affect NISA, but I assume they're already working on CS4 for a 2020 release if everything is in order. I don't think the delay from September to October had anything to do with CS3 needing more time, but rather to avoid competing with the large amount of games in September.

@Bara Tulska What in the world are you on about? Reading your comments here is legit pissing me off. There is so much wrong with what you're saying that I don't even know where to start. But let me try and break it down:
- If the game is coming out in a western region, it only makes sense to translate everything into English. A lot of work goes into localizing a game, and you're shitting on all of that work. Without localization teams, you would not be playing any of these games, unless you knew Japanese.
- You're arguing that English dubs are wrong because they aren't the original voice actors. Well, localized scripts weren't made with the original writers. So, should we stop localizing text as well?
- Expecting English voices for a video game that is being brought to English-speaking regions isn't "neo-nazism", it's a reasonable expectation considering that game localizations have had it since the beginning, and the reason for that being that it helps bring more people into a series, which is also good for the Japanese developer, since more overseas sales means more money, and more money to put into their next game. It's also good for western fans, as it raises the chances of that developers games being brought over for them to play. It's a win-win for everyone.
- You're invoking Godwin's law by comparing this to Nazi germany. Honestly... It's just silly. Gaming has nothing to do with nazi germany. Please stop.
- The fact that you're acting like Americans are the only people that matter annoys me too. I'm European and I also prefer English dubs over Japanese ones most of the time, with some exceptions, like the recent Judgment game.
- THIS GAME HAS DUAL AUDIO. Your complaints don't even make any sense whatsoever. You're just mad that Cold Steel 3 is getting an English dub, but they're including the Japanese audio too, so you also get what you want. What you're doing is the equivalent of getting a cake and then complaining that the person beside you is also getting a cake.
Stop acting like this and let people enjoy their games their own way, and you can do the same. If you're against this stuff so much, I recommend you learn Japanese and buy the original games. Then you can be an elitist who isn't also a hypocrite, and nobody can argue with you.
