This is true. After turning off the fake soundaktor unit, I just couldn't get any enjoyment out of driving the car. I realize that NVH is an issue but, there is certain amount and type that is still needed for something that's marketed as an "enthusiast" car. I wound up getting rid of the factory exhaust and went the AWE touring catback exhaust. No drone and I get enough vibration and tone to feel somewhat engaging when driving. I'm guessing VAG received enough complaints and that's why the facelift for the MK7 GLI got a different exhaust.
Good review, looks good with all the blackout exterior. I’ve been car shopping and finding out this GLI is really a good choice , you’re getting a lot of car for the money. Going to wait for 2024 model.
I have the 2024 Autobahn and it's amazing. There is no other car on the market at this price that's fully loaded, with a more powerful engine. Super fun to drive.
yo .. those are real duel exhausts and are actually decent sounding on the outside .. also those 'white lines' you saw on the trunk/rear are reflections bro from the lights above 😂
Just purchased the 2024 VW Jetta GLI 40TH edition with the brand new grey color and black spoke wheels. And the lipstick makes it pop out. THE DSG transmission is crazy and pretty freakin fast for its size.
Just bought this vehicle in manual . . .were happy to find. Hear that 2024 is the last year for Volkswagen manuals being offered in the USA. Not sure? I always loved driving the "illegal" diesels with manual transmissions. Fun!
My 2019 MK7 didn't come with these side "mouths", should I get a newer one with the lipsticks, I will most likely cover them with black enveloping. With the advantage that the change is reversible if I need so.
My 2023 GLI is identical to this minus the useless "40" all over the car and the pattern on the seats, but I'd take the black/red perforated pattern on my seats over this any day
I have the 22 like the one in the video. I hoped they would change it some, so I could get another one. I like the red accents you called lipstick. Once you see it in person, it's so gorgeous in pure grey.
I too, hate the lipstick. The horizontal red line is fine, but why they decided to highlight the fake ducting is beyond me. That's why I like my 35th front end better. As far as the power goes, the GLI will forever be underrated because of marketing tactics. They make more money with the GTI so, the GLI will never get a factory tune for the EA888 that's more potent than the GTI.
This is why here in Brazil most GLIs have their engines re-tuned by their owners, you can yield a fair amount of extra HP easily and for cheap... let alone some guys that really go heavy on modding the car!
I’ve always liked this style of car. Even older Jettas used to be so nice on the road. I feel the wrx is kind of losing its appeal. This is a much more attractive option. Thinking about trading my truck for this for the gas benefits and all around features but gonna have to test drive it first!
I'm having a real hard time deciding what to get next as an upgrade to my 2017 vw Alltrack. I'm considering the gli but im not too thrilled about losing all wheel drive, I think I'm being forced into an A3 which isn't bad I guess.
I like the 2023 jetta more than 2024. The grill looks more classic. I love the 2023 wheels, silver, and black lines. But I love vw so I would buy this car as a second favorite.
I love the brutal honesty haha, but yeah that tiny spoiler is trash, i want a real spoiler. I love my 2017, wouldn't buy a new one cause i think it just looks cooler
What are you after? Drive experince or daily driver? Gli will be a better daily with less maintenance. While a bmw will be more fun to drive+luxury+expensive maintenance.
@@ICEautos11 Ask to the owners of the GLI 2023 what they think. I own one myself. and I am telling you, it's a lie. there's at least 242hp there. Why are they not telling the truth? Maybe the GTI is overpriced? Maybe the performance of the GLI are too close ? I won against a Ford Mustang 2.3l HPP 10 Speed 2021...How could I do that with 228HP?
@@Quadruple-Vaxxed-Boomer I 100% believe you, I just haven’t got to feel the newer Gli’s/gti’s. Those cars really just need sticky tyres and big turbos and they will crush most things
@@Quadruple-Vaxxed-Boomer sad how much those cars depreciate. Also after 100k miles they are very scary to work on. But yea man love these cars and forever will
5:30 the exhaust tips are real, and 2022+ are actually louder than 2019-2021
Appreciate it! Someone corrected me already. It’s a relief that they are not fake!

Glad you like it!!! Keep ontop of maintenance and it will be a dream car
You lost me at fake exhaust tips
Review cars in person, it makes a significant difference seeing things in person vs in pictures.

I bought the same MT vehicle as you! Is it true this is the last MT version in North America?
Beautiful car! ❤😊
1:40 from someone who owns the GLI, this is one of the most complimented parts of the exterior.
That’s good to hear! Yea everyone I’ve ever talked to about it has always done somthing to get rid of them.

Nope, those are real exhaust tips. It is the standard Jetta that has fake ones.
I’ll take your word on it, thankyou for correcting me.

Bought the 2019 jetta ....works great . No problems
I'll buy the Jetta again
I want one, might be buying one soon ...
I wish there were a option to replace the red trim with gloss black.

I want one but the lease price is horrible
I agree lipstick red vent type things , hate that . And the ridiculous pencil thin deck lid "spoiler"., Yet BMW has the same sht!

OK wish you did more
my guy should i Get this or the 2024 330i?

also these two cars are not comparable with the huge price difference what is this lol
Just go to the site yourself can’t review pictures this is just random banter
Wheres the 241hp engine from the gti? :(
Not for Jetta🙄
Sagitar 2024?
The lipstick sucks! First thing I would do is black it out, change rims, and drop it half an inch.
If you own one, you quiclky understand that 228hp is a lie. There's more than this under the hood.
I’ll take your word
