Just like GTA V, Resident Evil 4, Skyrim or Persona 4.
It's not Mario Kart 9 but I'll take it, this is very exciting!
I hope Waluigi Pinball returns!
Most of these retros are ripped straight from Tour, Waluigi Pinball is in Tour, so you can bet it’ll be in this with little to no changes from the Tour remake.

@Instagram User you have no content lol
The graphical disparity between this and the recently released Wave 4 trailer is equal parts hilarious and amazing because it shows they've actually been taking feedback into account and fine-tuning each new course. Like none of these first 8 courses had any anti-gravity sections whatsoever and were almost direct ports from Tour, yet recent waves have had courses with anti-grav, heavily upscaled graphics (just look at 3DS Rainbow Road, Merry Mountain, Riverside Park and Waluigi Stadium) and even some that haven't been announced for Tour at all :D
Look at coconut mall in this trailer then the actual version. It looks so washed out in the trailer
or maybe theyre just getting more experienced at making these… or maybe they got a pay cut so now theyre trying harder. Eh idk

Here’s an estimate of when to expect each Wave to be released if they are released evenly apart:
Wave 1 - March 2022
Wave 2 - July 2022 - August 2022
Wave 3 - November 2022 - December 2022
Wave 4 - March 2023 - April 2023
Wave 5 - July 2023 - August 2023
Wave 6 - November 2023 - December 2023
EDIT: I made some slight adjustments to the time frames but for the most part they remain the same.
this actually makes sense
They're really milking this game h a r d
For 2022, I'm hoping the 2nd wave will be May and the 3rd one in August and 4 in November and 5 in March 2023 and 6 in May 2023
I think they would probably release a wave in early December 2022 so they can add Merry Mountain with no complaints about it being 'out of tradition'. It would also be good timing for kids who want to get the game for Christmas, so there's a brand new wave out around that time (just like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's release).

Hoping Wave 3 comes out around Halloween and has spooky themed courses like Luigi’s Mansion from the DS and Banshee Boardwalk from N64 👻
even though I don't think Wave 3 will be then, I'd love that
@@osc-omb47896 here’s my math: if there are 6 waves over the next two years (24 months) then I would guess there would be 3 per year separated by 4 months. Since the first one comes in March 2022, second would be July and then third would be November. But that’s if they get released like clockwork, so I’d also guess the gaps between each wave might range between 3 and 5 months so October doesn’t seem too unlikely since it might boost their sales if they make it themed and release before 31st October. The 8 actually means infinite. That aside i would also love to see some more new playable drivers into the mix together with each new course pack, not just some cheap recolors of existing ones but a bunch of returning ones into the fray and maybe a few brand new that has normally never entered the racing courses on the home console, characters such as Pauline, Diddy Kong and Funky Kong would be incredible additions to the roster that would add lots of character into the mix.
There's so many fan favorite characters yet to be added into the game as playable drivers and Mario Kart 8 is now finally receiving a long lineup of content updates in new courses, giving players a much grander range of drivers along the way shouldn't be overlooked addition either.

My main problem with this is how a lot of the tracks have textures that were ripped right from tour. This usually wouldn’t be a problem, but the tracks in base MK8 Deluxe have more detailed tracks. I know graphics don’t mean a lot in terms of the quality of the tracks and I’m still gonna buy it, but the tracks being added definitely stand out from the base tracks. They just look like they don’t belong in MK8. I mean look at the detail in the buildings in Toad Harbor compared to Tokyo Blur. It’s night and day. Again, I’m still buying it, but it’s just something I noticed.

@@MGMVE skip to 1:07 and look at the temple and you will see what I mean. @Nintendo I'm actually excited for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. However, I am concerned with the huge lack of additional characters like Pauline & additional vehicles like the Wild Wing & B-Dasher MK. II.
Besides, if you're porting tracks from Mario Kart Tour to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, then you should do the same with characters from Tour like Pauline (who needs an outfit & stunts for Bikes & ATVs), Kamek, Hammer Bro, Nabbit, & Dixie Kong, as well as pre-existing ones from previous games like Birdo, Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, & Petey Pirahna.
The same goes for vehicles for Tour & other preexisting games like the Wild Wing, B-Dasher Mk. II, Carrot Kart, Comet Tail, & the Mario Kart 64 version of the Pipe Frame.
Not to mention any vehicle parts like Tour Gliders & Tour Tires, such as the Dreamy Egg's Rainbow Tires.
And although not likely, I hope to see more additional Power Ups like the Mega Mushroom, as well as features like Character Outfits / Skins & Vehicle Paint Customization, implemented in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well.
Most of all, although 96 tracks does sound awesome, being stuck with the same roster of characters & vehicles since MK8DX's Breath of the Wild update doesn't feel too thrilling at all.
Someday, I hope you implement the aforementioned content, especially more characters, vehicles, & parts, into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, whether within the already existing upcoming DLC (not likely, or through a 2nd DLC pass (more likely) just like with the original Mario Kart 8 & Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
On one hand I'd like the tracks to look more like the other MK8D base tracks graphically, and I also would've liked some DLC characters to go with it since this basically means another few years without new characters to play.
But at least there's coconut mall.
Yeah, I may sound petty because it's a SPECTACULAR deal for essentially a whole game's worth of courses, but they look just like their Tour versions. They're not very.... pretty. I had such high hopes for a stunning update of Coconut Mall. ^^;
Another vote for DLC characters.
Mario Kart needs Piranha Plant back.
I personally think that this was the better move for Nintendo to make. $25 for lots of additional content to a game with plenty of tracks and characters already is better than paying $60 for potentially less content. But that’s my opinion, I do respect the side of wanting Mario Kart 9.
@@itsmii7785 the thing is... Switch is 5 years old and already has good Mario Kart. Even I love MKs, i think this is much better solution than making another MK for "old" console. Especially when Mk8 has been selling well still.
@@duckeh1952 oh I was implying that making DLC was the better move 😅. Sorry if it came off differently
I was expecting 8 tracks, maybe 12.
THEY'RE MAKING 48?! Worth every penny. Glad Mario Kart is getting some much-needed love. The release windows model will keep online populations high for a long time, as well.
They're ported maps from mario kart tour a free game. And I mean ported, the art style, lighting, models are exactly the same as the mario kart tour it's a lazy cash grab.

Just 1 more week till we race on the wave 1 courses!
Yes! Only 7 more days left. We’re getting closer and closer!
Mm-hmm, Coconut mall will be my very first dlc course I'm gonna race on.
Maybe Shroom Ridge or Choco Mountain will be my first course for me.
@@DennisGaming03 I'll probably play them in grand prix more first, so Paris Promenade will be my first
It does sound like a great idea tho 👍🏻
48 NEW TRACKS??! Nintendo really went all out for this year. THIS IS INSANE!!
This ratio is incredible.
Was that sarcasm? Plz tell me that was sarcasm
29 May 2014 was when 8 came out. 2014!
I hope they add more characters with it

@@luisanica9187 I can't wait till this Thursday....
This really puts the “Deluxe” in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! This is shaping itself to be a great addition!
Speaking Of Deluxe.
I still hope Nintendo thinks to make a Deluxe version of Smash Ultimate.
With it having all the old single player modes Ultimate did not get like Break The Targets, Smash Run, Board The Platforms, ECT........
Netcode Rollback.
An actually good story mode.
Characters like Dixie Kong, Krystal From Star Fox, Bandanna Waddle Dee, Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Earthworm Jim, ECT........
New Music Tracks
New Stages
All that jazz.
Please make it happen soon Nintendo!

It's Dull. It's Dull.
It's boring.
It's bad.
It's lame.
I'm so hyped because I always thought the game was missing a few of my favorite old courses,
it'd be nice if they used these updates as an opportunity to fix some things with the game like:
-adding 60fps in 3/4 player splitscreen
-adding LAN play (like 2-3 switches to have 8 or 12 players)
-add some more characters/karts from the older games
Plus this increases the pressure to make MK9 even more insane for the next system in 2024/2025!
No I think we’re just gonna to get Mario kart eight super deluxe or something like that
LAN play exists - on the main menu, press the left stick button while holding L and R and it will replace the wireless play option.
@@laserdude3643 sadly I think you're right and they wont do any of that. Also I just realized the graphics of these course are not on-par with the rest of the mario kart 8 deluxe maps, they are ripped from MK Tour which is a bit disappointing.
@@laserdude3643 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe+ lol
@@PhirePhlame yes but I wanted to have 2 or 3 TVs with 4 players on each like the older games, I don't think you can do that
Since Australia's eShop is page saying it'll release at 10:00 AEDT (and converting it to North American timezones), we can expect them to release near these times:
4pm Pacific
5pm Mountain
6 pm Central
7 pm Eastern
11pm (Europe)
Japan's gonna be one of the only regions to get it on March 18th. America, Europe, and Australia all get it March 17th.
Although I might be wrong about it releasing on the 17th, so take this comment with a grain of salt.
Moonview Highway is my most favorite course in the world. I just can’t wait for it to come out
You got it
Imagine if we get Mushroom City back.
That course is so underrated and needs to make a return!
I can bet so :D
I agree, especially since I used to play Double Dash back in the day!!
Most likely, one of the few Double Dash tracks that has yet to make a comeback in a future Mario Kart game
Double Dash is the most underrated Mario Kart of all time, and it's also the 2nd best Mario Kart.
It isn't in tour right now so it's highly unlikely.
Never would I thought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would get additional DLC after so long, but better late than never. Also, while it’s great that a lot of these courses are getting remastered, have to keep in mind that these are 48 additional courses, not new ones like a lot of people have been saying. I like a lot of the old tracks, but I wish there were actual new tracks in this pass too. Regardless, I get why Nintendo did this, since this is still the best selling game of the series.
I prefer old courses, especially ones from before Mario Kart Wii.
Best selling in the series? It's beyond that. It's becoming the best selling game for Nintendo, of all time.
“best selling game of the series” is an understatement at this point 😂
Looks as the fandom is very mixed on this matter but I sure no doubt that this Pass will be another success within Mario kart history
I will admit graphics are worrisome but I'm sure they'll pull through
I am a bit worried about the graphics, hopefully this is just an early version of the dlc, Even if the graphics look like this, it won't bother me that much, I just wanna play the tracks
@@TacoLogan08 agreed, at the end of the day we are getting more to our game which means seeing old courses in a whole new light.
We're getting closer, next Friday is the day! I want to see Moonview Highway, Dry Dry Desert, DK Summit, and Toad's Factory from Mario Kart Wii.
I JUST WANT TO PLAY COCONUT EVERYDAY BUT THE PATIENCE IS KILLING ME
Same with my friends lol!
We got DK Summit!
I'm actually VERY okay with this. This is a CRAZY ton of courses, I just wish some characters were also included.
Imagine them only adding Wiggler and Queen Bee...
@@superxavxii421 I mean, at least that would be characters
(I might be biased though because I personally like the fact they added Wiggler and a semi-obscure character)
You never know, maybe they might add more characters? We'll just have to wait and see :)
I wish they added some alts from Tour. That would be amazing.
Pauline should be among them, and more vehicles like Pipe Frame 64, Wild Wing, Sprinter, & many more.
It's not Mario Kart 9, but it's good enough and I'm definitely excited for it.
Love the fact that it has Coconut Mall and MKTour content, can't wait :D
same here man!
Hopefully this ratio is good enough
@@rayon3793 what? *THIS* ratio?
MKTour content? It's like a dream come true!
To be honest, I thought they were done with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because the game has not received any major updates since 2018. It looks like Nintendo is not finish with the game yet.

A while after I got the game, I always wanted DLC. The problem is that the graphics have been downgraded, it looks more like Mario Kart Tour than the MK8 Deluxe itself!
I think most of the courses look really great, only problem was the MK Tour tracks. I know the game flopped and that those tracks are an easy port but I really hope they retouch the tracks to fit in line with the other MK8 Tracks
I just think it’s the background. The road looks fine, as well as the obstacles.
Cool, but why do these retro tracks have such a different art style from the base game's retro courses??
They legit just re-used Mario Kart Tour's art style and called it a day omg
It’d be nice to see new characters in the game.
Yeah hopefully they add like 1 or 2 per wave
I'd be satisfied if it where the ones from Tour (Pauline, Diddy Kong Dixie Kong, Birdo, Peachette, Funky Kong, Kamek and Hammer Bro).

@Bazilla! 🌿🌸 It's very unlikely to happen. I feel it has a 5% chance of happening.
@Bazilla! 🌿🌸 it probably won’t happen. There’s already about 3 or four rainbow roads in the game. Don’t see them all being together.
@Bazilla! 🌿🌸 it takes a lot of trial and error. They are probably all in there but in desperate courses. No point of making a a whole cup of rainbow road.
Rainbow Marathon cup.
All these people are complaining about the quality of the dlc don’t seem to recognize that each course is only gonna be worth 52 cents. That’s rather generous for Nintendo.
Technally its 53 cents per course but it doesnt matter since its only 1 cent
