This video took a long while to make but I'm really really proud of how it turned out. I have to hold myself back from showing unecessary details of how it all works under the hood, just because explaining how every single detail works would make for a very boring 2 hour long video lmao. Hope I did a decent job of condensing all of this into an entertaining video

one suggestion: as someone who's colorblind, the blue orb and pink orbs look a little too similar. i'd suggest making the blue orbs lighter like they are in real GD to avoid confusion! or you could do the 2.2 thing

I've got the same type
Here is some stuff you can add in 1.2:
A button to rotate 45 degrees.
A grid in the editor.
A red and black orb and all the pads.
The ship gamemode.
An icon kit.
More main levels.
And death effects.
Also when you save not all the blocks save.
I feel like he should split it up into 1.2 and 1.3. He said that he doesn't want next update to take forever and the ship gamemode is very hard to program too

Suggestion : You can create .zip files, that would store both the song and the level, and you could use a importer, which would be a file explorer popup, that would automatically put the level in the levels folder and song in the songs folder. There could also be a button in the level settings to export the level as .zip!
Please, add The Void, that kills you if you're too high, so that you can't just skip the whole level by hitting a blue orb without spikes at the ceiling.

if you're planning on making this a series (which i really hope you do i really like this) you could make a megahack type screen in it where you can toggle noclip and speedhack and maybe a few other things

You should make a account system so you have different people with different names while no one is stealing. let’s say Viprins level, and people start downloading that level while the original is not getting any it would be very cool making a account system and it might solve a lot of drama between levels

Yoo this is sick! You could also add a playtest level button in the editor, a playtest music button in the editor and a copy + paste button in the editor. These will be super helpful as i have seen some playthroughs of older version of gd and it seems super irritating without these features. Obviously thses dont have to be added immidietally but i think it would be a really good addition!

Awesome job! I think In 1.2 you should try to get a server for user levels (it would be hard but you could always get some help or just “borrow” some code) and I think a rating system would be fairly easy to add once the server stuff is working and then boom now we have a creator point leader board that could be added and possibly one for stars or another collectable like stars. I seriously would love to try and make cool levels in tride dash, it looks pretty good so far and I would really love to see working servers come to the game sometime so it’s easier to find user levels to play and so I can upload my own masterpieces. I know it’s just a gd copy but I think it has some potential as just a fun little “alternative” to gd, and because you are the best creator on the planet your rating system would be completely perfect and everyone would quit gd to come over to tride dash! 🎉🎉🎉
Honestly for update 1.2 these are the changes you should add
1. Add a icon set bc being just the default icon is probably boring
2. Add a playtest button in the editor (probably hard to code)
3. Add a color set my color for my icon is red and black
4. Add triggers (probably very hard to code) maybe you should add 4 triggers the color trigger,move trigger,rotate trigger,and stop trigger
5. Add a new gamemode bc being just the cube gamemode is kind of empty
And that's ALL! and great job for update 1.1 :) amazing work tride.

-New icons for cube (like the first 5 free one the classic ones and the supporter and others are for beaten levels), ship(like the classic and a couple more),ball(like the classic and a couple other too) and ufo(the classic and a couple more)

-4 new levels
-Edit buttons like edit object and edit group
-New triggers like move and alpha and color trigger
-Color channels like 99 channels

Here's a whole list of stuff that NEEDS to be added. Ship, playtesting in the editor, song playing in the editor, more levels, background and ground triggers, maybe the ball, jump pads, red orbs, slabs, those weird pulsing stick things, speed changes, possibly the ufo, black orbs, spider orbs, and green gravity portals. If some miracle thing happens and you somehow see this, maybe scatter these things across multiple updates because that's a long list of things.

In the future, you should add a death animation- I mean vanishing animation :D If the block hits something it will vanish and play a very retro explosion sound effect, just a idea for you here :)
i think you should make a contest for people to make levels in tride dash and pick the best ones for main levels
this would be fun and get a lot of main levels done so the game would be much more expanded, it's a fun video idea as well judging other ppl's levels maybe with some popular gd creator even

decided the editor gave me enough reason to download this, game itself would be not half bad if you increase the gravity / player speed. main issue is the editor corrupts anything i try to save by deleting ever odd-numbered column
Little tip since it looks like you are new to Unity. If you dont want to have to zoom out when editing your UI set the Canvas from Screen Space - Overlay to Screen Space - Camera.
Then drag in your Main cam into the Camera field and you should see that your Canvas scales down to Camera size. This makes it way easier to edit GUI and als way easier to test.

16:39 you can actually change hue of the image if you go the adjustments (button at the top) and press the hue/saturation button. alternatively, you can press ctrl+shift+u to access it quickly.
playtesting and listening to the song would be the most important feature to add imo :33
Oh, also, the reason the structure you wanted to build in profesor umlaut didn't work, because in GD the icon has 2 hitboxes:
- the red (spike) hitbox
- the blue (box) hitbox
the red hitbox triggers when hitting a spike or a saw or any of that and it's as big as the icon,
and the blue hitbox is smaller than the red hitbox and it triggers when it touches a block.
If you want to make that structure work, you need to implement that.
Keep up the good work! Maybe you can add in 2 player pvp into the game :D

20:00 Personally, i would ads exactly 8 bytes to the beginning of each file which specify the size of your block data in bytes. Then when you read all the bytes of the file 1 by 1, you check if you reached this number. All the bytes afterwards just get pushed into a separate buffer from which you create the song. This way, the music will be included in the actual level file. For the level data itself, json can be used, but i would recommend a custom byte layout. So lets say 4 bytes for x, 4 for y, another 4 for id and 8 for rotation (if its in radiants). So every 20 bytes you get a new block. This way you save a ton of filesize and loading time, because the words "pos" and "rot" arent actually needed for your script to know where it is.
We dont talk about custom songs :P

I just made a level with my own song in Tride Dash. I aspire to be one of the OG Tride Dash creators. Also a couple things I noticed / would like to share
- the music is very slightly de-synced after you respawn (the first attempt is fine, but the attempts after you die are off by a couple milliseconds) (and yes, i did make the level sync)
- where can i share my levels? we need like a google doc or something (like for you to play i mean) (first ever Tride Dash level request video???)
- i make some music if you want you could use some of it for Tride Dash! (just a suggestion i don't wanna be annoying)
- when you open the editor, the first object you click/place gets deleted instantly
- sometimes an object gets randomly deselected when i wanna do something with it
- i've clicked the exit and DON'T SAVE button 3 times by accident cuz it's in the same place where the Resume button is in GD. please swap those two :D
IMPORTANT EDIT: I've opened Tride Dash this morning and my level got wiped

add orb movement, ball mode, small spikes, platforms, mini portal, coins, add triggers but make 'em easy like move trigger where you can easily set where there x and y cordnents are to move by putting the trigger in the block and etc.
here's some suggestions on improving your code:
1. use classes. like for example: Make a class "tile" with similar data like position and rotation, and then inherit from it at every other tile and add define some functions like onCollision or onClick etc
this would make the code a lot more simple to use and maintain
2. not really a coding thing but separate main levels from custom ones. Like remove that selection thing at bottom left

A few bugs rq, you can double click blue orbs which is annoying, and the space bar dont work with the orbs, also plz add a button to quick play your level, its annoying to keep going back to the main menu, just to go back to the editor after play-testing

you need to add different gamemodes since in the first video you mentioned that you accidentally made a ufo, you probably could just add ship and ball since all the other gamemodes get pretty complicated
Make, ship, ball, ufo and wave, and also fix things up with the detail I request (Also add more level editor stuff like black, spider and red orbs+ pads and more design and stuff)
