    In Europe we would use a side knife, because there would be too much waste of crop. Nice video!

      Not that common in Canada neither actually. Straw stays green and tough, shells a lot out, and can’t combine as fast. It’s just a fad.

    Is there a reason not to use the straw-swather for bales? I suppose it's just a free fertilizer when the cultivator plows it into the dirt?

      Ærik Bjørnsson my dad and I have made bales with canola straw before but the cows really only use it to lay on. It also could be a hassle if you have an large area to farm. Some combines (not really to familiar with these new holland ones) you cant make a straw swath with. Also it looks like this farm only farms grain so there is no reason really for them to make bales. Bales are not worth vary much either. And you are right when it is chopped up good it is a like in this video it is a good natural fertilizer. But overall it is really just up to the farmer :)

      it can be done both way, its up to the farmer who is growing it

      They both have the ups and downs we only straight cut the canola but u can do both

      I forgot to say they also have made new varieties that work better for straight cutting.
