    Timelines - Lots of options: purchase one already put together, make one out of a notebook, put a huge one on the wall that you continually add to, etc. Put anything of historic relevance onto the timeline.     Field Trips - put memorabilia into a scrapbook/notebook, everybody take their sketchbooks to sketch something that they want to put into their notebook, investigate to see if any interesting historic events took place in that area & put them on your timeline, Identify it on the map, etc
    Maps - Use blank, laminated outline maps of the United States and also the World, to identify the different characters, locations, historical events, etc. that you come across. I like to use dry-erase markers in different colors, or you can devise your own method.

    Only recently joined HLA for my kids to do the American High School Diploma in South Africa. VERY excited and looking forward to a more Unschooling approach in our home. Thank you for the tips and discussions, it has been valuable!!

    I'm so glad you posted this video. I've read some books from some of the unschooling authors you've discussed. It's funny, I wasn't sure if HLA would be supportive of unschooling. Wonderful and encouraging video! Thank you for this discussion.
