    Great to see a Tikka in the lineup. Excellent rifles and glad to see their accuracy hold up with the Gold Dot projectiles. I've read a lot about their accuracy along the whole line of Gold Dots.

    4350 has always been my go to powder for 30/06. Can't go,wrong with it.

    I'm thinking that large drop in velocity had something more to do with the individual piece of brass and its sizing than the primer but longer strings will begin to show the cause!
    Great video, looks very promising

    Glad to see this video. I've been thinking about trying Speer Grand Slam 165gr in my 308win. Looks like the Speer's did a good job.

    Very promising! I’ve had great accuracy with the 168 gold dots and H4350 with F215M primers out of my 300 WSM, also with the 140s in 6.5 creedmoor. The rebated boat tail seems to make them a forgiving bullet, much like a flat base. If that Tikka shoots these sub MOA but hates regular boat tails it might have a less than perfect crown.

  • @conservativesniperhunter7439

    You gotta be happy with the accuracy using brand new full length resized brass .
    I think you have found the right recipe for that Tikka . With fireformed brass resized with a 0.002 thou shoulder bump back those groups should tighten up some more .

    Great video, can't wait to start my testing on my 30-06. But for deer hunting hope I find a lower node. It's for hunting not bench shooting. No reason to be at max velocity. I like the meat.

    I need to try some 4350 in .270 Win. I bought a pound, with out really having a use for it, but I see it's well liked in .270

      4350 is a very useful powder. It works well in a large range of firearms. It will work well in your 270.

    I have 3 30-06 rifles the max load that nosler recommends is awesome. 165gr nsbt not the other options . I use wlr cci seams to open groups. Sub half inch in 3 factory gun. Give it a try you won't look back.

      I just ordered .30-06 dies for my ruger american and picked up IMR4350 and sierra 165gr HPBT. Normally I've shot factory 180 gr hunting loads for Elk and they are painful after 15 rounds. Whats the recoil like with your sub inch groups? I really would like to shoot my 06 more if I could find a cheaper round and load but the case capacity is quite large.

    • @outdoorbasicslevel1825
      @outdoorbasicslevel1825 Před 4 lety

      The recoil is lighter than 180 by 20% , if you are having recoil sensitive issues I would put a whittmachine brake on it makes my 300 win feel like a 243 . Accuracy was improved not hurt buy it and if it worked on my 300 should be great on a 3006.

    @Bolt Action Reloading where are finding the H4350? I can't find it in stock anywhere, or anywhere that will let me buy on back order.

    I’ve ordered the major components for reloading and just need to choose dies for the RCBS MatchMaster FL 30-06. I was looking for what range of neck dies to start with. I have two 30-06 rifles and am purchasing a 700BDL this week. Next I want a Tikka and then I’ll play around with finding loads for each. By the time I’m done I should understand reloading.

      I bought what I knew I would use when I found it a couple years ago. I see it here and there, but I think its in short supply for the moment. Reloder 16 tends to work well as well if you run into it. I am going to try it as well.

      To be honest I have been looking to find some staball 6.5 locally and haven't been able to find it. I think it has some great potential, if you find it, Reloder 16, don't hesitate to try them out. I got too focused on H4350 when I was looking. Don't get me wrong it works well but you have to use what you can find. There is more than 1 option out there.

      @@BoltActionReloading for sure.. I have a few other powders I've bought the the 6.5creed. I will be looking for the stabil. I've tried the shooter's world SW4350 but it didn't do well..

    Why dont you extend your videos and include loading up 5 or 10 rounds of the projected velocity node and we can see how these load work ups finish up.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  Před 4 lety

      Hi Derrick, I do not have the luxury of shooting in my back yard and often I take a trip to the range but once every 4-6 weeks. I have to load enough to figure out what I want to learn, load it and then test it. If I waited I would take 2 months to get out 1 video and I just don't have that kind of a buffer at this point. I try to get a video out a week. When I do the follow up for this I will put the chart from this into that video but there is a little more to learn here before the next range trip. Thanks for watching!

    do you think that is possible reload 30.06 with speer gold dot 150gr blackout?

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  Před 4 lety

      I am not sure if the difference, but I am guessing that the blackout version opens at lower velocities so I am not sure if that projectile is meant to get up to 3000 fps.
